great time mike ! you wont like our winter field day. Boston NY. gets cold snowy windy. can be fun. got a heated cabmen tent. my girlfriend keeps me warm. DX commander tells me they work great in the snow. will put that to the test. the snow can enhance ground plain. will use the new Pota flex coax. I may try to bring my AL572 tube amp and melt some snow. will try RTTY and some outher digital modes for Pota. Olivia is one of them. may send some SSTV pics of our snow. 73's

I heard someone on the air yesterday doing Herbert from Family guy with the whistle in his voice and everything lol. I looked back and our club (W5NS and me as the operator) worked your club on 40M. Nice to see inside the operations center there! Maybe we'll work you again on FD, 73!
Many years ago I was able to go to the Texas Fireman's Training School at A&M. Two summers I was at the summer training school there. Had a great time on the fireground all day long for a week in July. What a time to go fight fires in Texas

@@hamradiotube Yeah, but you're not there now. Here in NH, the high today will be 33F, and I'm sure glad that WFD was last weekend and not this weekend, when the Saturday forecast is a high of 15F, and a low of -11F. That's what the tents with the propane heaters are for. We did have two club members stay over night (not me).

When you are invited by a club to enjoy field day with them because your usual plans got canceled you don't complain. But yes, every other field day I have been outside in a literal field. I don't nit pick too much. Get on the air and have fun. We were still on emergency power.
That was great when you called CQ with a girls voice… Lol. Curious? Are the stations running bandpass filters to eliminate interference?
We were not. Def had a bit of qrm.

Mike, what is the ABR equivalent for RG8X? Also, what (MS) logbook were you guys using? It appears all laptops seen had the same…thanks, Alex K9YTT
I hope Mike doesn't mind me jumping in and answering, but I bought the RG8X equivalent from ABR, which is ABR-240, and their coax is stamped with both ABR-240 and RG8X. I'm actually thinking that the size is equivalent to RG8X but the coax is made similar to Times Microwave's LMR-240. From what I have heard, ABR Industries is going to move to a new location, and they will sell their coax only direct to customers and not through other vendors. I don't know when all of this will take effect though. 73 KD5YOU

Logging was done with N3FJP Winter field day application. We have been using all their stuff for many years for this type of activity. 73 KF5WGJ
Well, you just saw it in this video. ABR makes LMR-240UF, which they also label as RG8X, but it's really better than RG8X.
