Hey lovelies!! 😔❤️ First of all, what would you do? 😯❤️ Secondly, let me know if you have the same issues with your Chanel 22 bag - I need some help!! 😘❤️ Xx
I just try to sell it This problem is gonna continue and make it worse Recently I don’t justify spending in a bag with bad quality issues But If was me I just want to sell it.
Romina, I saw a black one for resale on Vestiare and it nas the same exact issue, to the t. So I believe it is a problem with all 22 bags, not just the metallic leather ones!
Hi Romina, this happened to my chanel white 22 bag, I posted a quick short clip, have a look. Leather is peeling top portion of my bag, could be a design flaw and paint on leather as well. th-cam.com/users/shorts8VqkIfxzfP8?feature=share
. Romina, I am a retired designer, and I’m afraid that when I first saw your beautiful bag my heart sank. I know that a bulky drawstring being pulled through a leather channel will cause stress on every part of that channel. Add to this the fact that the leather is beautifully soft and finished with a superfine metallic layer - and you have a recipe for damage. When I saw you tighten the bag’s drawstrings for the first time, I was pretty sure that the damage had begun. There are ways that the bag could have been designed that would have protected the bag from this damage, but they were not used. Also, the metallic finish, were it “distressed” a bit, would camouflage the inevitable damage. I’m afraid that you will not be happy if even a bit more damage occurs to this beautiful bag - but it will. For what it’s worth, I think you will be happier if you return the bag, not replacing it with the same model. There will be others looking to return their bags - and soon. Best to return it before Chanel is forced to revise their return policies.
It’s proven itself to be a disposable bin bag. I agree on your points. The less you cinch it and the less weight you carry in it you can prolong the life of the bag. It is not a forever bag. Best to return het promptly. Maybe an SLG in the same color will satisfy your appetite for the beautiful metallic purple?
Thank you so much, Melissa!! 😘❤️ This was really helpful & insightful - I will go back to Chanel this week before my one-month return policy ends!! ❤️❤️❤️ Xx
I don't know how many chances Chanel needs. I realise metallic/metallised leather is more prone to wear especially along creases and pressure points - but to see noticeable cracking after 2 wears is not "delicate leather". It's not "leather that has to be babied." It's a design flaw. If they were going to put this design to market in this material, they should have modified the design to reinforce those edges. With how much they are charging they have the money to do proper tests on their designs and leathers. They're not some small business that has to take a huge chance on making a loss. It's Chanel. They are a huge fashion house with people lining up willing to pay. With every release they are guaranteed to make a huge profit. I hope that it doesn't get worse, but if it does, I hope you can show this video as a record of the fact you came in asking about your faulty bag and they told you only to come back if it got worse! So many horror stories of luxury brands essentially saying you should've come in earlier and too bad. It's a beautiful bag and one that you love, I'm sorry it didn't live up to your expectations!
I work in a supplier with 22 euro bags metalic finished (small bags made in leather this lot we have now is made in Italy but we also have Portuguese or morrocan bags) and they do not do this. Southern europe and Northern African know how to work leather we know this is bag quality outrageous. I feel they are taking advantage of people that don’t work with leathers.
This bag was designed for rich women that don't care if it's worn out and have to ditch it after a few months. That's the spirit of this trash bag concept after all.
The bag is too new to the brand for them to question you *at all.* The design is poor and they behave so arrogantly as if it's our privilege to pay excessive prices for flawed merchandise. "Everything is fine with this bag, madam." Give me a break. It should be flawless. Everything they make should be flawless -- as well as their customer service -- at these prices.
I totally agree!! 😔💔 I still have to figure out what to do now - my ideal scenario would be to exchange this one with a new one - I'll keep you updated!! 😘❤️ Xx
I have been using the Burberry Lola bucket bag with quilted lambskin leather and gold plated hardware everyday for the past 3 months and I have had no scratches on the hardware & no wear & tear on the leather till date! It has held up wonderfully!
That’s not a issue if the leather is good quality. In Portugal we’ve been doing leather bags for centuries and they are extremely hard to damage if the leather is treated properly it can be soft. These luxury houses are being reckless unfortunately most consumers (particularly in anglo-saxon countries) don’t know this.
@@AnnaCN78456 good Point thanks ! I also remember shopping trips my family made to northern Italy - the region was famous for its leather goods. Jackets, coats, bags from very soft lamb lasted for a generation !
Many years ago I bought a similar metallic leather handbag from Burberry. I received many compliments and loved my bag until it started with the scratches and peeling. Burberry sales staff said that it would take it back but I decided to keep it. BIG MISTAKE! A few months after the fact, I had to throw it out because no repair shop or Burberry could fix the damage. I learned my lesson and have not bought metallic bags and now I learned from Melissa C. that it is all in the construction. Thank you, Melissa C., for this information.
SURFACE finishes, like ANY leather that is surface painted, and not deep dyed, is a bit more vulnerable to wear. A MERE SCRATCH can can reveal a different UNDER SURFACE. But most painted bags, at least USED TO, do some fancy chemical things, not just heavily layering the paint, but chemically bonding them to the surface. BUT THESE TRANSPARENT metallic finishes ARE NOT THAT. Think of it as a top coat on a manicure. Unless SOMEONE has done some fancy chemical footwork to adhere it, to the leather, is just about as temporary as your manicure. WHICH WASN'T $5. THOUSAND DOLLARS...I"m not exactly sure why all you STRONGE WOMEN allow yourselves to be intimidated BY A BUNCH OF CLERKS. IT IS NOT THEIR MONEY. IT IS...YOUR MONEY. AND YOU DESERVE TO BE HAPPY. Isn't that, afterall, WHAT YOU PAID FOR???
Am I the only one who saw this design flaw from the get go? The tension from the drawstring was bound to do that. It gets worse the more you carry unfortunately.
I have a few bucket drawstring bags and everyone of them has steel rings for the drawstring chains or leather straps to run through - the cost of that Chanel bag they didn't even think about wear and strain of a chain running across the leather, they seem to have made the bag as cheaply as possible for a massive profit! Its not like a couple of metal rings would have cost them much! 🤔🥰
Metallic leather doesn’t wear well period. I just *knew* this would happen with a metallic bag where the leather at the top is scrunched/wrinkled and the strap is weaved through the leather. Bummer.
I have been a Chanel lover and buyer for 2 decades. I recently asked someone who works for Chanel head office why the quality wasn’t as great as even 3-5 years ago. I was told that 1) they don’t necessarily source the same high quality materials as they used to (this is obvious if you have been buying from them for a while) 2) they don’t hire the the same quality of people that they had for decades to make the bags anymore as well - cheaper labour and just in general. Very disappointing.
I don’t have this bag but I did see a bit of a thing going on social media where someone’s lettering was coming off, not sure if you saw that. They should not release a new design until the prototype has been properly tested for design flaws, this is obviously a design issue as the weight it all in that area. These bags are too expensive to be having issues with them so early. So sorry to see you having this problem as I can see how much you love the bag x
Romina sorry to say that it is ur fault from the begining as u did a video about the quality issues of.this particular bag. And u went and buy it. So please never blame Chanel anymore please. Always talking about issues n go for the bag
Romina, how disappointing. I was so happy for you when you got to pick up this beautiful bag in Paris. I think because of the construction of the drawstring design this problem will only get worse over time. I hate to say it, but it might be best to return it before it gets worse. Especially since your intent is to use this bag on a more regular basis. Definitely keep us posted. Happy weekend to you.
This is so upsetting and unacceptable! I almost bought the blue metallic on launch day in Paris. I Immediately had concerns about the chain pulling directly through the leather. I feel it needs rings or some type of reinforcement. I question my SA and she assured me it would be ok. I opted not to get the bag and picked up a large 19 instead. I have regretted not getting that blue 22 until seeing your video today. Thank you for your honest feedback.
Glad you didn't get the bag!! 🥰 I still have to figure out what to do with mine now!! 🤔❤️ I wonder if Chanel reinforces the design in the future!! ❤️❤️❤️ Xx
I think it's to be expected right? Especially since there is a lot of claims regarding Chanel's quality issues nowadays. To be honest I am surprised you purchased the bag since you recently made a video about Chanel's dropping quality and that same bag of other youtubers being broken almost instantly after use... I hope you can get it fix Romina I know you really like the bag
Maybe it's not about the leather, it's about Metallic! Almost all the sales told me don't buy leather goods with metallic colors, and this is why, easily cracking.
under The Consumer Rights Act 2015 you have a right for a repair or refund. Call Citizens Advice and report them. Do it as quickly as possible. "Your consumer rights within six months If a product develops a fault within the first six months after purchase, it’s assumed it has been there since the time of purchase. This means it’s up to the retailer to prove it wasn’t there when you bought it. If a repair or replacement has failed, you have the right to reject the goods for a full refund or price reduction"
Hi Romina, I am so upset about your experience with the 22 bag. I just bought the small size in white on Wednesday and wore it all day. I absolutely love it, most beautiful bag ever. Mine does not have the stitching on the side but I noticed that the chain link is not perfect in a couple of areas. I don’t know if that is happening to other people but I am not returning it. I love this bag so much!!
As a bag maker when I choose my leather I do what I call a scratch test. If I can scratch it and it leaves a mark or flakes off as in the metallic treatment I steer clear of it. It is beautiful but the wear is not worth it to me to sell or even use in my personal collection. From what I can see it looks like it's just the metallic treatment that is cracking. I would expect so much more from the brand that's for sure. In regards to your "edge" stitching when the leather is quilted it is not quilted one bag at a time but rather a whole or maybe even a half of a hide at a time, so when the pattern is cut there will be some bags that have that feature and some that will not depending on where the stitches land during the cutting process.
I think that you should carry your bag as often as you'd like and when it needs repair, take it in for repair. It's crazy that we pay so much for bags and barely use them! I've come to think of signs of wear on bags as character.
@ kristal maner Smith. PATINA is the glory of aging. Like CHIPPENDALE FURNITURE. ..PEELING in a twice used bag is gross incompetence in quality. BUT TOLERATING THIS IS GROSS STUPIDITY. YOU'VE BEEN HAD. BY PEOPLE WHO KNOW THEY CAN.
This quality issue is appalling because these bags cost thousands each. The Chanel bags are made in factories but Chanel is charging "handmade" prices.
Nothing to do with the topic, but I was watching your video and my son (14 years old) came to give me a kiss and he heard you. He said immediately: “Is she German?”. I said “yes” and his answer was “a German recognizes another German”. It was very cute. 😊😂
Hi Romina. Thank you for sharing. I do understand your distress. This should not happen. Here are my very first thoughts. From what I can see and understand from the construction of the bag itself, there are two issues here. The drawstring is made of a chain and the hard metal rubbing against the leather, is causing some wearing, but this is the design itself of the bag and therefore it can not be changed. However, ideally the stiches should NOT come right to the top of the opening edge where the pulling action takes place, because this - in combination with some weight (when the bag is full) -will definitely going to put some strain on the stiches and pull them apart in due course. The drawstring should pass through an half inch of double leather unstitched, it should be stitched only along the the bottom. Now, the particular leather used for this bag is calf skin with a metallic finish glaze. In my experience, all the metallic finishes, regardless of what leather is used underneath, are very very delicate, especially if they are used for a drawstring bag. It is very hard to maintained the glaze on any leather. I am going to do a quick research on the leather finish and leather stitching used to make this bag in particular and I might get back you know with further observations. For the moment, here are my thoughts. Please don't let this stopping from using the bag you love. Enjoy it. Speak later. Love, Cat xxx
Hi lorna here i think you should try bring the bag back to the store in dublin ireland the staff are much nicer there an the store is not as busy as the stores in london there is a high chance that they could have the bag best of luck with it an its not good enough form chanel the way they treat there customers so shocking dont let them away with that 😀
@@RominaRoseMay the staff are lovely there so much nicer than in london they would look after you there you chould give them a ring to see if they have it in stock just ring brown thomas dublin store an they will put you on to chanel its worth a try 😀
My stitching goes to the top edge - size small. No problem with that and have been using it every day. Wear will at some point show though, I guess. I can live with that. If it were to “break”, I would try to enforce the warranty.
I have the 22 large in matt black and there's no cracking to the finishing - definitely an issue with the metallic coating. I'm pretty sure i was advised not to use the chain as a drawstring as its going to crease the leather. I'd just leave the opening fully extended and not worry about any tiny imperfections. Nothing nice really looks like photoshopped/filtered perfection if you look close up...
Hi Romina, thank you for sharing this issue. I have just bought the Chanel 22 in black, so I checked my bag whenever I heard this happen to yours. Luckily, my bag doesn’t have that stitches on the edges, they’re about 1/2 cm from the edges. It’s supposed to have the same structure to make the luxury bags like Chanel. They’re thousands dollars, so we deserve to have them in perfect conditions
I say wear the bag as much as you want and see what happens. If it cracks and gets worse, use the 5 year guarantee and send it in. If you baby it you'll never know. Use it as much as you intended to and if it gets worse, send it in.
Good advice!! 😘❤️ I was thinking about doing that - if it cracks though, there's not a lot Chanel can do to fix it!! 😔💔 It's either the bag or money back I guess!! 🤔💔 Xx
All Chanel metallic bags.. I was told by all SAs that it wont last and its not meant to be daily carry bags. So I would say at least they have been upfront with their quality on metallic bags 😅
Makes me so sad when people use “im so OCD” so flippantly. Being particular isn’t a serious mental health struggle. I really love your content, this comment isn’t intended to be criticism.
Once I was looking for a mini flap and they only had a couple of pastel shades. One was a mini pale yellow flap in a store and it had color transfer on the back and a mark. I asked why it was still there for sale. The SA replied that they don't discount bags and that it's so popular someone will buy it anyway. Same for a crinkle patent black mini at a different store (passed on it and got the perfect silver one). I was shocked by her candor. Had such attitude! But you know, as long as people pay their RIDICULOUS prices for their lower quality products, they will continue to exploit it to their advantage. And consumers deserve it for not having enough dignity to say "NO!"
Romina, ignore the people that are criticising the look of this bag in the comments; it does not help the situation and if you like it, that’s your business. My primary issue with Chanel is that you have reported the problem and they have given you absolutely no solutions to rectify the faults in your bag. The item is faulty, regardless if you purchased this in France or on the moon, they should take responsibility for the fact this item is not fit for purpose. I would consider going back into store and explaining that this is not good enough and this does not comply with their in house returns policy. Of course over time things deteriorate, why should you have to wait for this to get even worse before they can make it better? This was not the outcome you desired, I really hope you return to store and address this with a manager. Please keep us updated on the outcome 😘🎀
Imagine a local business posting a bag with a stone missing or charging a few hundred dollars for bags with a few quality issues. Everyone would bash them and nobody would shop there. Chanel does it? Repeatedly? Charges $$$$? Nobody really cares and continue to worship the big CC. I really do wonder why.
Because they think us consumers have lost our mind and will buy anything. We need to be smarter than them and not give them our hard earned money for mediocre quality especially for newest styles they release… also the chanel SA blurted out that that bag above chanel sent alot of them for FREE to so many influencers 😒
Ask yourself is the color or wear-and-tear more important to you? At this point you can’t have one without the other. So keep the bag and expect more cracks or return and get your money back for another bag down the road. There will always be new bags to love.
Romina, I’ve been shopping… and came across the Lanvin Lambskin Happy Bag Pm in “Grape”. It’s a lovely bag, and looks like it would be good for everyday use. It’s different from your Chanel, but to me, it looks like it would suit you. Cheers,
Agree did no one in the dozens of people in PR care about the missing crystals in photos. I guess Chanel might not care about the quality issues in bags as well
That bag is beautiful! Such a shame about the cracking - I wonder if inserting some kind of felt to pad the inside would help alleviate some of the strain?
It’s such a beautiful bag! I hope it will last forever for you! 🙏I thoroughly enjoy all of your contents Romina, please keep making them! ❤️Thank you for discovering all these ‘interesting’ facts about Chanel for us😅
I just check my new 22 after you said this issue. I do not have edge stitching(but close to the edge, it have little space). I think Chanel need to improve their quality otherwise it not worth the price. Hope you can exchange and get the new one.
Never buy metallic color, as the coating will fade, on the past where the bags rubs on your body. Another material to avoid is patent leather, color will transfer easily and the leather gets sticky and sometimes patches appear over the years. First time leaving a comment here, loved all your blog.
NOT ALL leather is created equal. I have a large georgeous Arcadia ( another small boutique brand) in black patent, and it's wearing beautifully it's 3rd yr. But you should store it stuffed, and not touching another bag. And be a little more mindful not to scratch it. Reminds me of my patent Maryjanes when I was little...
As someone who manufactures clothes and bags, you really can't expect a bag to not wear over time. With the design of the bags without rivets, its really going to have some cracking in that area. Dumb move from chanel to be honest. They should've just added rivets not like it will add 500 usd more to the price right? The leather of this bag looks like crap too. Just because you paid thousands of dollars on a bag, don't expect it to not wear. People really expect perfection when they spend thousands on a bag. Ladies, at the end of the day, it is made with LEATHER. This is why i only spend thousands on jewelry cause i dont have to baby it.
Hey Romina, Im sorry what happened with your bag, because I know how much you love it. I would definitely return the bag and ask your money back. Come on, this bag costs over 5000 EURO and after wearing this twice the corners are tearing. It will only get worse, and you deserve a better bag. Much love.
Hi Romina, i have caught up with Dacob live and watched your exchange about the bag. I think Dacob's advice is very sound. I would try to get either a refund or credit from a London boutique, but not another ( the same) bag at the moment. I would simply say that you want to return the bag within your statutory right of the 30 dd return policy. I would not elaborate too much over the reasons - I would keep it really simple and to the point, something along the line that the bag doesn't suit your life style or yourself. Then see how they react to the fact that you bought the bag in Paris. They might fuss over that a bit because of the out of EU taxes and currency exchange. The alternative would be to get back to Paris and exchange the bag directly there where you bought it. BTW please read the Chanel T&Cs as stated on your LaFayette receipt, I am pretty sure you have kept all the paperwork. When in Paris you could ask for a refund or a credit note to be spent in the UK - I am sure you are aware you might lose a bit of money. When in London (I live in Somerset), I usually go to the Chanel concession in Selfridges or the Chanel boutique on Bond street, I have always find the staff there very helpful over many (20!) years now. Personally, I would not get another bag, let's wait and see the feedback about wear & tear from other clients. Let's the dust settle for a moment, I would cool down and try not to let emotions run high. This is my personal opinion. Please keep us posted. Lots of love & good luck, Cat xxx
BIG thanks for making both the elaborate videos. After watching them, I ran to see the edge stitching on my caramel 22 small and mine does have the common thing with the bags showing problems. Am out of the return window and the bag hasn’t been used yet. I’ll try to avoid or lessen damage to the leather near the edges by putting a Velcro around the straps. One great lesson learnt is do not buy anything newly launched from Chanel in the FOMO.
I believe the Chanel quality issues are because they are outsourcing they all get the leather from the same manufacturer in Italy then they outsource factories to stitch the quilted leather then they get it shipped to France to manufacture into handbags that’s why you have so many different quality issues and as far as the hardware that’s been coming off I believe it’s also outsourced from China! Luv you! 🌹🌹🌹🌹
I personally would expect that where the chain is rubbing and you are constantly scrunching it against the chain. I don’t know how it could be avoidable unless they make a different edging there.
The Chanel 22 saga continues, so disappointing. However, I’m glad I’m not the only one who stalks insta and zooms in on problem areas on other peoples’ bags, Instagram is such a good resource for that. Personally, I would take a tape measure and periodically check to make sure the cracks don’t worsen with use.
I might go back to Chanel this week and try my luck again just to know I did everything I could - if they won't let me exchange her I'll just have to live with Miss Frankenstein haha!! 😘❤️ Xx
I always knew the wear and tear will be bad on the chain loop and the corners. This bag was not designed to last... the metallic colors this season are beautiful tho
Hey Romina! Thanks for the video! Quite a lot of cracking on that area considering the fact that it has only been worn twice. This is something that I would wait after years of wear. However, glad that you discovered the cause of the issue and that the SA at Chanel was kind. The edge stitching looks nice but I doubt it will last well. Chanel might have to come up with a solution. I wonder if the first generation of Chanel flap bag owners had similar issues ; )
@@RominaRoseMay Great! It’s super hot here in Abu Dhabi today. So I am spending a lot of time at the mall, or in the pool at my apartment building. I hope that u too are having great weather in London!
Hey Romina how are you , i hope you and your family are keeping well and staying safe , I’m so sorry about your bag I can’t believe it , is there away you can have it replaced at all , that is what i would do that is if you can do that , oh by the way end of this. On the i shall have my dream bag being ordered can not wait !!!!!! , .I’ve your videos by the way , and i did see another bag in your last video i saw which was the Chanel bag teddy fur in the pink i love it i automatically fell in love when i saw it lol x , going back to the Chanel 22 bag I can’t believe how many different type of stitching there are i find that very weird , what I don’t understand is that why can’t they all have the same pattern stitch on all type of chanel 22 bag ? X Love your videos Stay safe From luke ☺️ xx
It is really weird indeed!! 🤔💔 I wish I could replace the bag with another one but they didn't offer me that option - I might have to go to another boutique again and ask there!! 😔💔 Xx
This is really disappointing! As soon as you started explaining the wear, I wanted to jump up and run to find my 22 bag that I just received this week. You are right that we are essentially the guinea pigs for Chanel with this style. The only reason I jumped to buy a 22 up from 22A was due to the Brown color being re-released again this season. After I finished watching your video, I checked my 22 in the 22A Brown and saw that my stitches do not go to the very edge of the sides. They end in a point at the top of the bag that’s a few millimeters from the edge where the straps come out and pull up the leather. So I think I will be all right and not see the same wear as your 22 and stitching. I wish I could say that I will wear it out immediately to see how it actually wears, but I’m a bit homebound at the moment. So here’s to hoping that if there is substantial wear, Chanel will repair the bag later.
@@ada4030 Very true. Would it have been too much trouble to put a band of leather to reinforce the edges? Come on, Chanel. I’ve got a few days to decide if I’m going to return the bag instead of trying it out.
@@Born1986 You must be so disappointed! I like the idea of the style. I noticed right away that there weren’t any grommets or reinforcement like Chanel has on other styles. Having owned a (high street brand) of bucket bag, I know firsthand that cinched leather will tend to crease and show wear more than a structured style. I have avoided investing in a more expensive offering of unstructured bag as I’m afraid I won’t get much cost per wear and or longevity. Then again, we love what we love and sometimes it’s about our obsession and cost per wear investment.
😣 how frustrating! It’s such a beautiful bag. I hope if it gets worse they will be more helpful. Though right now if not pointed out I would never notice it 😀 continue to enjoy Romina! Have a wonderful weekend!!
Another comment: I ran and checked my navy small 22. I’ve been wearing it for about a month off and on. I don’t see anything yet but I do have the stitching that goes over the edges. 😬 I hate worrying about their quality all the time!
weight of the bag is going to stress that metallic Finish to crack, return it if already not happy it will get worse. Maybe get in regular purple without metallic if. they have. good luck.
Honestly there should not be any quality issues with a bag this expensive. Chanel need to sort out their quality. This is one of the bags I talked about in my video today that I won't buy. I don't really understand the point of it. I love the colour you have though. Are you going to return it? I am not sure about spending that amount of money only to have issues after wearing it twice :(
Love the video very informative. When you showed the still photo it was easier to see the cracks and when you tried to get close up they get close up on that type of color it's kind of hard. It always shows up better right in front of you with a naked eye lol. The company should do better if you're going to make a bag that expensive jewelry whatever whatever don't have stones missing don't let the material crack and crease..
Romina. The 22 bag is pretty. But the quality is lacking in my opinion. I would ask for a credit. So u can get a different style u like in the future. I would use the beautiful. Purple patent lady Dior you. own that. One is so magnificent 🌸
Thank you good luck try to get the credit. Another one will probably have the same defect 😕 use the purple patent Dior. The Dior one is pretty also on the outside the Chanel letters May fall off. The wear on this new Chanel. Bag Is unacceptable. Hope to hear the . Outcome. Remember. These are only Sales Associates. Not Chanel. Headquarters. Or the manager
It does make sense that when your scrunch the leather because of the drawstring that the leather would crease just thought maybe they overcame this design. This is so sad my heart is sinking for you. I did think the leather looked off when I saw it in person…
Regarding the pearls falling off the item; this goes to show Chanel isn't real jewellery. It's costume jewellery and it's what we can all expect from costume jewellery sadly - only that it's rather pricey for costume jewellery - which is why I've never purchased Chanel jelwes and only stick to buying Cartier and Mikimoto.
I'm so sorry Romina, one of my bags has colored hardware and the hardware that holds the chains to the bag the color is wearing off after wearing TWICE. It's my dream bag and now im super upset as well.
@@RominaRoseMay i didn't, i know they won't do anything for me unfortunately bc i don't know how they would be able to prevent it. I also got it preloved. Im so upset i legit carried it twice.
Such a shame that the designers didn't put some sort of protection around the drawstring area. Stands to reason that the rubbing would both rub off the metallic coating and in other non-metallic bags, rub away at the leather. I feel for you, I don't see a happy solution, the colour is devine too.
Querida Romina, I don't believe in it... I bought a handmade bag, 4 years ago, in a medieval market. It makes with "delicate leather". I used it 6 days a week for 2 years and now it looks amazing. Like Shani_nah said: it's a design flaw... A terrible design. What Chanel is doing is unacceptable. 😔
You need to put some leather conditioner on the bag immediately you don’t know how long that bag has been manufactured sitting in a box dry rotting it needs moisture ASAP!
Metallic bags are always going to be more delicate and it is also a softer leather. Looking at how the chains are, I can see them rubbing against the leather. I would go to another store and return the bag.
I think it would be better for them to experiment better on the structure of the leathers of their bags, like maybe 90% soft calf skin leather and then for the part that holds the chains and where the most stress is they should use their caviar leathers which is very very resilient (I have one and i dont think its possible to break this caviar leather flap bag 🤣🤣🤣)
I am very sad and disappointed that my Gold Chanel 22 is peeling on the back! I have only worn it 4 times. I went to Chanel and she said they cannot fix it. I am shocked, this is an expensive bag with obvious quality issues. I love my gold and I do not want a refund, I simply want them to fix the peeling!! How can I continue to wear this bag I am afraid it will peel more
It will peel more - I had to accept that as well!! 🥺❤️ Chanel won't do anything about this issue - they are simply ignoring it since the bag got released!! 😔❤️ Xx
@@RominaRoseMay Did they give you a refund or are you stuck with it? I also figure, maybe if I am stuck, I will still use it since I love the colour anyway and take it to a bag spa when the peeling gets unbearable. But isnt there a coating or spray we can apply to limit peeling?
First, I just want to say; I think you are lovely!! I’m so sorry this has happened to your bag, I watched your videos and know how long it took you to decide to get one! My experience with soft leather is that it doesn’t wear well over time. But, your bag is brand new, Chanel should do the right thing and replace it with a new one!!
That cracking is absolutely unacceptable. It’s not a museum piece, it’s a bag. And the fact they’re trying to gaslight you into treating it as such is utterly ridiculous.
Hey lovelies!! 😔❤️ First of all, what would you do? 😯❤️ Secondly, let me know if you have the same issues with your Chanel 22 bag - I need some help!! 😘❤️ Xx

But If was me I just want to sell it.

It was an ugly bag in the first place
Romina, I saw a black one for resale on Vestiare and it nas the same exact issue, to the t. So I believe it is a problem with all 22 bags, not just the metallic leather ones!
Hi Romina, this happened to my chanel white 22 bag, I posted a quick short clip, have a look. Leather is peeling top portion of my bag, could be a design flaw and paint on leather as well.

Very informative. Thank you for sharing your fashion wisdom❣️
100% this bag in metallic bad idea
Excellent observation, advice and feedback!
I hope so too!! 😔💔 Thank you so much for your feedback, lovely!! 😘❤️ Xx
Or collectors that buy it to sit on the shelf.
That's good to hear!! 😘❤️ Xx
One lesson I learned from experience was to never buy bags with soft leather. Paid a lot of money and will just give you worries.
Soft leather is just so tempting because it feels so luxurious!! 😔💔 Xx
@@RominaRoseMay this isn't soft leather 💜💜 weather conditions ☀️ play a huge role in this.
I’ve had Ysl bags with soft leather for yeeeears …
That’s not a issue if the leather is good quality. In Portugal we’ve been doing leather bags for centuries and they are extremely hard to damage if the leather is treated properly it can be soft. These luxury houses are being reckless unfortunately most consumers (particularly in anglo-saxon countries) don’t know this.
@@AnnaCN78456 good Point thanks ! I also remember shopping trips my family made to northern Italy - the region was famous for its leather goods. Jackets, coats, bags from very soft lamb lasted for a generation !
My SA asked me not to get this bag for the reason you mentioned. And this is since last season, so perhaps it's a flaw that Chanel already knew.
Some self-reflection: Isn't it crazy how we want to reward ourselves with nice bags and end up with ones that worry us...
So true!! Xx
My lovely Romina, so this is quality content !! The research you‘ve done is truely amazing! Nobody talked about this issue ! Greets from Germany❤️
Glad you liked it!! ❤️❤️❤️ Xx
So sorry to hear that!! 😔❤️ Xx
I thought that exactly when I first saw this bag. I also would not purchase matt gold hardware. I bet it rubs off very quickly.
I wonder if Chanel changes & reinforces their design in the future - I'm guessing with time there will be a lot of people complaining!! 🤔💔 Xx
So true!! 😔💔 I wonder if Chanel will change & reinforce the design in the future!! 🤔💔 Xx
Metallic leather doesn’t wear well period. I just *knew* this would happen with a metallic bag where the leather at the top is scrunched/wrinkled and the strap is weaved through the leather. Bummer.
Bummer indeed!! 😔💔 Xx
Thanks for letting us know!! It's very disappointing indeed!! Xx
So why they still do price increases anyway? Poor quality, but more high prices, where the logic?
Best review by far!❤ May I ask what size is your Chanel 22?!❤
Medium!! 🤗❤️ Xx
They should definitely do that!! 😔💔 I saw the letters falling off - I wonder how many people will have issues with this bag!! 🤔💔 Xx
Thanks, Stephanie!! 😔💔 I really need to think about what to do next!! 🤔💔 Xx
Thank you for sharing this video. I was considering the silver metallic but now not anymore… thanks to you I consider this video a warning…
❤️❤️❤️ Xx

Maybe it's not about the leather, it's about Metallic! Almost all the sales told me don't buy leather goods with metallic colors, and this is why, easily cracking.

Thank you so much for letting me know - this is really helpful!! 😘❤️ I will go to a second boutique and talk to them about it again!! 🤔💔 Xx
Good luck with that. IT'S A FRENCH BRAND.
So happy to hear your bag was produced properly!! 😘❤️ I still have to figure out what to do with mine now!! 🤔❤️ Xx
Thanks, Sonia - very insightful!! 😘❤️ Xx
I think that you should carry your bag as often as you'd like and when it needs repair, take it in for repair. It's crazy that we pay so much for bags and barely use them! I've come to think of signs of wear on bags as character.
I totally agree. That’s exactly what I would do.
I agree
I will try my best to do that!! 😘❤️ My OCD just likes perfection unfortunately haha!! 😅❤️ Xx
YOU CAN'T FIX PEELING. TAKE IT BACK. COMPLAIN BITTERLY.
So true!! 😔💔 Xx
Agree it’s not Hermes, they can at least point to the fact that they’re handmade
Nothing to do with the topic, but I was watching your video and my son (14 years old) came to give me a kiss and he heard you. He said immediately: “Is she German?”. I said “yes” and his answer was “a German recognizes another German”. It was very cute. 😊😂
Haha 🤭❤️ That's indeed very cute!! 😁❤️ Sehr süß!! 😍❤️ Xx

Hey Romina, i have the same issues after three times of wearing my Chanel 22 in white leather ... Nix metallic. Greetings from Germany. 💝💝💝
So sorry to hear that, Kati!! Imagine how our bags will look like after wearing them for a year - it's gonna be a nightmare!! 💝💝💝 Xx
Oh no, that’s not ok, but if it won’t wear well in metallic why make it in metallic? Why do SAs take faulty bags so personally?
I don't think she took it personally - she just didn't care enough to do anything!! 🙃❤️ I'll try my luck again in another boutique this week!! 🤗❤️ Xx
Hi lorna here i think you should try bring the bag back to the store in dublin ireland the staff are much nicer there an the store is not as busy as the stores in london there is a high chance that they could have the bag best of luck with it an its not good enough form chanel the way they treat there customers so shocking dont let them away with that 😀
I wish I could beam myself over there haha!! 🤭❤️ That would be ideal!! 😁❤️ Xx
Good advice!! 🤗❤️ Xx
Love the sunglasses you wearing towards end of the video! Where are they from?😂
They are from Gucci!! 🤗❤️ Xx
So happy to hear your bag was produced properly!! 😘❤️ I still have to figure out what to do with mine!! 🤔❤️ Xx
🤔💔 Xx

You just purchased this bag and only used it twice, have them send for repair or replace with a new bag. Do not wait, it will only get worse.
You know there are other youtubers who have this bag. Have the same issue. Might want to check into this
Thanks for sharing! Yes that's a big concern
Makes me so sad when people use “im so OCD” so flippantly. Being particular isn’t a serious mental health struggle. I really love your content, this comment isn’t intended to be criticism.
Also watch the leather that runs through the chain. I think I noticed in one of your photos that there was some cracking beginning on the strap.
I totally agree!! 😔💔 I'll definitely try my luck at another Chanel boutique again this week - I'll keep you updated on what happens next!! 😘❤️ Xx
So true!! 😔💔 Xx
So true!! 😔💔 I really need to think about that!! 🤔💔 Xx

I guess Chanel might not care about the quality issues in bags as well
I'm sure by now they don't care!! 🤔💔 Xx
Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if Chanel is selling everyone replica bags from China
Frankly, a knockoff, at this quality point, is a totally better deal...I can't believe I said that. I can't believe I HAD TO SAY THAT...
That bag is beautiful! Such a shame about the cracking - I wonder if inserting some kind of felt to pad the inside would help alleviate some of the strain?

I just check my new 22 after you said this issue. I do not have edge stitching(but close to the edge, it have little space).
I think Chanel need to improve their quality otherwise it not worth the price. Hope you can exchange and get the new one.
Thanks, lovely!! Glad yours is without the edge stitching!! Xx
Never buy metallic color, as the coating will fade, on the past where the bags rubs on your body. Another material to avoid is patent leather, color will transfer easily and the leather gets sticky and sometimes patches appear over the years. First time leaving a comment here, loved all your blog.
So happy to hear that!! 🥰 I've never had issues with patent leather yet luckily!! 🤗❤️ Xx
Much love.
I'll try my best to exchange it - I'll keep you updated!! 😘❤️ Xx
🤔💔 Xx
Wake up all consumers boycott Chanel
Lucky I haven't bought tk my wife as in singapore the metier is coming next week
That's definitely a good lesson for all of us!! Let me know in case you'll experience any wear & tear!! Xx
Luv you! 🌹🌹🌹🌹
That's very likely!! 🤔❤️ I'll keep you updated on what they say at Chanel this week!! 😘❤️ Xx
😘❤️ Xx

Love your videos
Stay safe
From luke ☺️ xx
It is really weird indeed!! 🤔💔 I wish I could replace the bag with another one but they didn't offer me that option - I might have to go to another boutique again and ask there!! 😔💔 Xx
@@RominaRoseMay I do hope your sort your bag problem out also I really hope you and your family are well , love your videos always

I’m concerned about it being a flawed design despite the details of the edge stitching.
So happy to hear your bag was produced properly!! 😘❤️ I still have to figure out what to do with mine now!! 🤔❤️ Xx
😣 how frustrating! It’s such a beautiful bag. I hope if it gets worse they will be more helpful. Though right now if not pointed out I would never notice it 😀 continue to enjoy Romina! Have a wonderful weekend!!
True!! 🥰 Wishing you a wonderful week ahead, Theresa!! 😘❤️ Xx
Another comment: I ran and checked my navy small 22. I’ve been wearing it for about a month off and on. I don’t see anything yet but I do have the stitching that goes over the edges. 😬 I hate worrying about their quality all the time!
I hate that too!! 😔💔 Let's just keep our fingers crossed for our bags - I still don't know what to do with mine now!! 🤔💔 Xx
weight of the bag is going to stress that metallic Finish to crack, return it if already not happy it will get worse. Maybe get in regular purple without metallic if. they have. good luck.
Thank you!! Xx
Honestly there should not be any quality issues with a bag this expensive. Chanel need to sort out their quality. This is one of the bags I talked about in my video today that I won't buy. I don't really understand the point of it. I love the colour you have though. Are you going to return it? I am not sure about spending that amount of money only to have issues after wearing it twice :(
I know!! 😔💔 I'll definitely try to exchange my bag at another boutique again this week - I'll keep you updated on what's happening next!! 🥺💔 Xx
I totally agree, Donna!! 🤗❤️ Xx
Romina. The 22 bag is pretty. But the quality is lacking in my opinion. I would ask for a credit. So u can get a different style u like in the future. I would use the beautiful. Purple patent lady Dior you. own that. One is so magnificent 🌸
I totally agree, Barbara!! I will do my best this week to either exchange her or get store credit - I'll keep you updated!! ❤️❤️❤️ Xx
The wear & tear on mine has actually gotten really bad now - will make another update video soon!! 😔❤️ Xx
Likely the metallic coating cracking it does wear off eventually
That would be so sad though!! Xx
You’ve got 5 year warranty so just enjoy it xx 😘
Do you think Chanel is using genuine leather instead of full grain? so many speculations?
Some leather experts even said they might be using bonded leather!! 😕❤️ Xx
If they had cover those ends with metal then it would just be metal scratches. I wonder why they did cover those edges??
I also really wonder why they didn't do that!! Xx
Oh no!! 😯💔 We're sitting in the same boat then right now, Stacia!! 😔💔 Did you bring it in - what did they say? 🤔💔 Xx
@@RominaRoseMay i didn't, i know they won't do anything for me unfortunately bc i don't know how they would be able to prevent it. I also got it preloved. Im so upset i legit carried it twice.
If they used the same material to fix it im sure it would rub off again considering it was perfect and i only used it twice.
SO SO Sorry about your Beauty Cracking ... but I am looking forward to seeing you Tomorrow in the Fashion Bunker, we will give you Love + Support! XXX
Thank you so much for all the support!! 😘❤️ I loved your little IG story!! 🤭❤️ Xx
@@RominaRoseMay : You have it always My Dear! And I love that you loved my Silly IG Story; You two together make me Happy! Xxx
If you really want to keep this bag in this color, I would go ahead and have it reinforced now. Because the cracking will continue .
Chanel themselves said they can't do anything though!! 😔💔 I wish they could somehow reinforce it!! 🤔💔 Xx
@@RominaRoseMay That would be admitting their design flaws.
Then I would take it to one of the purse spa’s and have them do it. I did this with my vintage Diana bag when Chanel refused.
It really is!! 😔💔 I'll keep you updated on what I do next!! 😘❤️ Xx
You need to put some leather conditioner on the bag immediately you don’t know how long that bag has been manufactured sitting in a box dry rotting it needs moisture ASAP!
I love the Purple
It is not actually cracking but delaminating..the layers are peeling awaiting and the top layer flaking off. Very serious craftsmanship error.
Good point!! Xx
Babe, they've been doing this for decades.THEY DON'T CARE.
are you returning it?
There will be an update next week!! 🤗❤️ Xx
did you return or keeping
@@tntoverpower4608 The update video is coming out tomorrow!! 🤗❤️ Xx
@@RominaRoseMay I am actually waiting for your update so i can decide whether to buy or no :(
I am very sad and disappointed that my Gold Chanel 22 is peeling on the back!
That's what I'm hoping for - I'll definitely go back again this week and I'll keep you updated about what's happening next!! 😘❤️ Xx
That cracking is absolutely unacceptable. It’s not a museum piece, it’s a bag. And the fact they’re trying to gaslight you into treating it as such is utterly ridiculous.
So true!! 😔💔 Xx
