Cryptid Reacts! Epic the Musical: Mutiny

The last react video received SO much love and support and I am absolutely in awe of how many people showed appreciation for it.
Mutiny is the next song in the Thunder Saga, after Scylla's Song. There's A LOT of things I feel from this song and in this song, and I loved it just as much as I loved Scylla's Song. I hope you guys enjoy the video!

I think there is an irony in how Eurylochus was willing to abandon his crew before and how he's mad that Odysseus just sacrificed people like that. But also the crew that were going to be lost to Circe also were lost due to their own actions and choices. Sure they were sent out to scout the area, but they chose to trust Circe and that gamble didn't pay off - they gambled with their own lives. But with Scylla, it was Odysseus paying for passage with the lives of people who didn't even know what lighting those torches could do. Up until now, Odysseus' orders were with the intention of keeping people alive, so the people who lit the torches trusted that if they died it wouldn't be on purpose. So I think that's why Eurylochus feels so much more betrayed in that moment and doesn't feel that sense of irony that he wanted to let people die before.
After finding out that Odysseus' orders are no longer being made with the intention of keeping his men alive - that some of his orders are guaranteed deaths and some are for staying alive. Of course you can't trust him anymore. When becoming a monster "to everyone but us" doesn't include your own crew - or you don't know which of the crew counts as "us" and which do not, then you can't trust the person calling the shots anymore. And that's something that scares me about this kind of mindset because a person like this is great at protecting you, but at any time this person can decide that you're the threat to whatever it is they've built up and whatever goals they have. Then suddenly it's your head on the chopping block.

@@TheRPGCryptid But I think this makes it all that much more tragic too. Because even though Odysseus betrayed them like that, he still chose the option that he thought would result in the fewest deaths of his crew. And Eurylochus and the crew's reaction is completely understandable and justified! And when everyone involved has reasonable and justified actions that set them as enemies despite having the same goals, it's just so tragic. Odysseus faced the trolley problem and chose to switch the tracks to kill less people - but because it was him who killed them and not just a powerful foe they could never have defeated, it's untrustworthy and immoral and results in a completely reasonable mutiny because the crew doesn't know if they're just going to be picked off one by one so that their captain can make it home himself. There was just no winning. :(

The build up to Mutiny was so tenderly woven and the callbacks to Luck runs out and Just a man really sell the name EPIC! I love it so much
