  • A family shares the loss of a 20 year old family member to fentanyl poisoning.
Naloxone, the active ingredient in 4mg Narcan and higher dose 8mg Kloxxado, along with many generic versions, can reverse an opioid overdose if administered quickly enough. Some areas have Naloxone available for free. Google it.

These videos should be shown in high school health class. Mandatory. One video a week/bi-weekly. So powerful. To this sweet family- my heart breaks for you. As a severe opiate addict, these videos break me when the parents blame themselves. My mom died when I was a 2, my sisters were 3 weeks old, and 7 years old. In spite of that I had a great dad a step mom who did her best and a good childhood. My dad was exactly like this dad. He believed the lies and deception I fed him. Who wants to believe their child they’ve nurtured, loved, and cared for, for 20 years would sink into the pit of addiction?
We have the inclination to believe the people we love, even if the evidence says otherwise. That was my dad. He was the last one besides myself(addicts themselves are always the last to realize they’re an addict) that his son was a drug addict.
They did nothing wrong, I changed, I made the decisions I made and it wasn’t because of them it was because of me. I had to walk that path and making me bring my car keys to them at night or setting a curfew was not going to change that. They say 2 out of 3 addicts have some type of trauma in childhood that can help cause substance use disorder later in life. That means 33.3% don’t have trauma from childhood and had a good upbringing and still turned out to be an addict. No singular decision you as parents made caused this.
I was 30 when their son died. The only reason Blake is gone and I’m still here is because I’m 10 years older. I got sober right about the time fentanyl popped off. I got sober in 2014 then again after a 9 month relapse in 2019. He was poisoned, had I been born 10 years later I’m confident I wouldn’t have lived to see 30.
    I hate fentanyl. Rip Blake🖤

We will lie and be deceptive at every turn necessary. It's not anything I'm proud of, but it's the pure truth. I don't believe I'd be here had this been a problem when I was using either. Short of locking Blake in a room 24/7 there's not a thing this or any other family could ever do to prevent their beloved child from accessing drugs. Clearly, this family is deeply traumatised. Having done all they knew to help Blake to no avail I hope justice is served regarding the drug dealer who caused Blake's death. He knew what he was doing and didn't care. Also, I hope each one of them can now begin to focus on their recovery from this harrowing ordeal. Take care. Great care. ❤

Parents aren't handed a "how to" manual when we bring our babies home from the hospital. I really could've used one while my daughter was in active drug addiction because navigating the overwhelming situations presented by drug use is a complete 180 of our normal instincts. I'm blessed, my daughter has 5 years clean However, every day I know it could change in a moment and back in the abyss we all go.
These Parents are so honest and their enduring the torture of a child suffering from addiction is so apparent, I pray they do realize it had nothing to do with anything they did or didn't do. They loved and nurtured their son to the absolute best they could and now without having any responsibility in his death are suffering so tremendously.
The brothers life has been forever altered as well. Many prayers for all of you and thank you for sharing your experience and loss in hopes of helping others. 🙏 ❤😢

This is how they should ALL BE DONE! Am infact pleasantly surprised that there was an ACTUAL ARREST in this case, all the others that I’ve watched, NADA, ZILCH, ZERO arrests. Is that what you want them to do? Continuously ignore these parents pleas for something to be done until they can arrest say, 100 people at once? Would that be a good enough quota for you? I experienced this almost 30 years ago, and understand the feeling of guilt - nothing you would have done would have mattered at that time. He was using, and the one who was using, was your son. Do not give yourselves this responsibility, it is not. The tiredness is talking through the screen into my motherheart - I know you will be arriving at a more tranquil place in due time. In the meantime, take care of eachother and yourselves, try to leave it in the hands of God. He will keep you and your family safe, and bless you ❤

Every week I try to watch a couple of these horrific stories. I agree with one dad that said, "why isn't there commercials and public service announcements? Why was his son's death the first time he heard about it." This is out of control and this is NOT about drugs, it's about poison.

If you are taking/considering taking drugs PLEASE DON’T! I went down that route it is NOT WORTH IT! You will lose your money, job, place to live, addiction takes everything from you if you let it! And it is really easy to let it! Definitely easier said than done to quit but you can do it! Please quit or never start because this is what happens to your family after you’re gone.

Total admiration for you as parents in so many stories I hear it was the wrong crowd, so called friends but I never know who the crowds are. You did the best you could at the time. Kids are not always open, so you had to work with what you thought you knew. May you find peace knowing he was more than this as a son a brother and a friend.

Same here. I thought my son’s marijuana use was a phase. Turns out he was schizophrenic and had psychotic episodes due to marijuana. My son passed at the age of 31. The last 15 years of his life were hard because he wrested two forms of mental illness, schizophrenia and addiction. It is suspected that he overdosed on fentanyl. This happened two months ago and we’ve yet to get the toxicology report which can take up to 6 months in NY.
    You have my condolences.

We cannot afford to overlook the scope of this tragedy, which has become one of the largest and longest-lasting public health crises in our nation's history. To address this crisis, we need to prioritize raising awareness of the dangers of illicit fentanyl, expanding access to mental health care, and taking action to combat the illegal production and distribution of this harmful substance.
