  • A mother, a brother, an aunt, and a friend share their story of losing a 19-year-old loved one to illegally manufactured fentanyl. Illicit fentanyl is a dangerous, life-threatening drug frequently found in other illicit drugs and results in the death of 200 people per day in the US. This is just one of those stories and delivers an urgent warning to avoid all illicit drugs.

    Naloxone, the active ingredient in 4mg Narcan and higher dose 8mg Kloxxado, along with many generic versions, can reverse an opioid overdose if administered quickly enough. Some areas have Naloxone available for free. Google it.

    The aunt hit the nail on the head when she said people need to learn how to deal with their emotions without medication. All these young people just can’t cope, so run to whatever to ease their feelings, so, so sad 🥲

      Many people depend on medication (that is properly prescribed to them.) Many people cannot function without this support. Perhaps you cannot relate, and if so, you are fortunate.
      There is nothing worse you can tell a mentally ill person than, "you just can't cope." So disgusting and insensitive. And we wonder why there is a percentage of those struggling who are afraid to ask for help... Please, have some empathy.

      @@babydemon666 all these kids using illicit drugs aren't mentally ill and that's not what the aunt was talking about.
      But who are the ones that need to teach them how to handle feelings and how to react to them: parents.
      So many parents are protecting their kids from any disappointments, they end up not having the tools to face them.
      But many kids live in an environment where everyone, including their parents, are using drugs, so they learn to cope that way.
      This aunt was not talking about mental health issues. That is a totally different thing.

      I'm sorry but the comment about dealing with emotions without medication isn't so nice. Some people have actual mental illnesses that require medication to help balance it out and treat it properly. I know first hand what it is like. I have depression so you're telling me to just learn how to deal with them? I have dealt with them my entire life and it's been agony. I don't sleep like I should. I don't eat like I should. I'm sad a lot and shouldn't be. So before anyone says that really stop and think about how some of us try to deal with our emotions but sadly they win and we take our own lives and stuff because it's torture. Please try and understand addiction doesn't discriminate and sometimes it's not even addiction that kills it's the simple drug itself not just the amount of it.

Sheltering them like that is only going to end up bad. • @TexasPictures
      @TexasPictures  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +72

      Naloxone is the active ingredient in Narcan and is also available in many generics as a nasal spray. In fact, the brand name Kloxxado delivers a higher dose of naloxone than Narcan (Kloxxado-8mg per dose, Narcan-4mg per dose). Naloxone can reverse an opioid overdose if administered quickly enough. Some areas have Naloxone available in the brand name Narcan or generic versions available for free.
      It is important to recognize that Naloxone is the drug, Narcan is just a brand name. Whenever someone uses the word "Narcan" in place of "naloxone", they're devaluing all the other equally effective brand options and promoting a specific pharmaceutical company.

Illicit fentanyl came up on my radar in November 2017 when one of my favorite musicians Lil Peep died from taking Xanax laced with illicit fentanyl. About a year later another one of my favorite musicians Mac Miller died from taking Percocet that was laced with fentanyl. I used to take Xanax from the streets for a couple years. Sometimes they were legit from a prescription most of the time they just came in a plastic bag. I quit using Xanax in January 2017 and have been off of pills completely since February 2017. I am blessed to still be alive today. The world has changed a lot and no drugs coming from the black market are safe.

    I live in Montreal, Canada. Narcan is available in all our pharmacies. Anyone can receive free Narcan and keep it in our first aid kits. It is very easy and fast to administer Narcan.
    In the CPR/first aid course I took last year, we were told by the instructor to have Narcan on us in case we were in a situation that we are the first responder before the police/ambulance arrived.
    This should be the same everywhere.

    First off I would like to say I’m so sorry for loosing such a beautiful motivated young lady and second you got it right on the head about people taking these pills to mask their depression and anxiety! That’s exactly it and as a 4 months clean today actually off opiotes and alcohol I know first hand that I too was masking my severe depression. As soon as I got sublocade monthly injection for opiote addiction my severe depression has fully gone away and I haven’t touched drugs or liquor for four months or have I felt better ! I’m so sorry that your daughter never got that chance but just know this that I will LIVE MY LIFE CLEAN AND SOBER FOR DESI’REE and she lives long in my beating heart ❤❤❤ RIP sweet Angel.

    I’m in tears watching this. My heart and prayers goes out to this family. As a parent of young adults myself it’s so hard to make them understand the dangers that lies upon them. She was a beautiful young woman. I can’t imagine the pain this family and many others are suffering with losing a child to this.

    I am so very sorry and extremely touched by what happened to you. My stepson, Sullivan (Sully) passed July 22nd 2019. My biological son has been to rehab twice for these pills. I am doing anything I can to help him but he is 23 and I have to work and sleep. I am terrified of going through this with him. He is not using now but he has lost 2 friends in past month. I wish I knew how to stop this from happening. Our government needs to take action!!!!!! Enough!!! These are our babies!!!! They NEED TO DO SOMETHING!!!!!!

    • @lauriemoore8440
      @lauriemoore8440 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Who needs to do something? What does that mean? The "government" is you. You and the taxpayers are the government. Stop looking to other people to blame for your own family members wanting to take drugs, knowing full well, they might die, if they do. It seems like so many people these days don't put any onus on the one choosing to do the drugs, they just want "the government" to save them while they continue to use. This has nothing to do with the first responders not having Narcan. The Narcan has actually just encouraged more druggies to keep using, cause "the government" will save them so they can continue to use.

      The majority of drugs don’t come from the border . The cartels send them by ship, tunnels, private jets and trucks and cars . Research before posting racist posts!

    I am sorry for your loss. Once we find out that our kid is doing drugs, as loved ones, we need to get the life saving meds, keep them in our cars, houses, purses, etc., to administer them!!! Her deathcould have been prevented!!!

      @executivewoman - I believe Dez’ mother could have and should have had Narcan at home, in her purse and at the ready!!! Don’t blame the whole sad situation on First Responders! Mom doesn’t mention once why she didn’t have Narcan at the ready. Plainly, she has no excuse. She knows - she don’t wanna go there.

    • @executivewoman678

      @@killereverb3928 No. I am definitely not blaming the Mother. I am saying that this has been happening all over this country and for a while now. I don't know of anyone going through this but I know about the millions of kids and young people dying from this stuff. I watch this channel and others, as well as Dr. Phil (back in the day) has been screaming about this since the late 90's, early 2000's. A lot of people think "not my kid/child" but it is! If the "authorities" aren't going to do anything, then gosh darn it, we as citizens have to save out progeny!! The young people are this country's future! I am not involved personally with anyone taking pills or doing drugs. I have a VERY SMALL CIRCLE. Yet, I don't think I can take seeing anymore of these youngins die like this! It's truly unbelievable.

      Good job!

    You are not alone. I lost my oldest child my 27 year old son on August 26, 2022. He was in a drug rehabilitation center, and his roommate had someone deliver some fentanyl then gave my son some. They kicked him out he died, laid there dead in there grass overnight!!! I am just now getting off of medication, anti depressant and all. I am trying to deal with this and I am in trauma therapy. No one should have to experience this pain. I am so sorry, I wouldn't wish it on my worse enemy. God please help us.
