@@8mmmausermanplease make a community post or response video on what RTI says about your rifle! I would really like to know how their process works as I just picked up a carbine myself
I imagine they'll replace that given the barrel issue. They occasionally sell rifles with serious issues like that at a much lower cost and it should've been part of those listings.
John, shooting a bulged barrel can be tricky, as when the bullet reaches that spot gases can escape some as the bullet in no longer sealing them behind it. Enough velocity can be lost causing the bullet to get stuck in the barrel forward of the bulge. Trust me, I know. Always make sure the bullet exited the barrel when shooting a bulged barrel is my advice. Also, although rare, a few of these 1891's were converted in Austria to 6.5x54mm MS. Usually you can tell if the rifle is stamped AZF on the barrel, for the "Artilleriezeugsfabrik" or Artillery Arsenal Factory in Vienna. This was applied to captured and reworked arms.
So much resemblance with the 'Dutch' and 'Romanian' Steyr Mannlichers (6.5 mm rimmed) and the en bloc clip was also similar. In reenactment in the Netherlands they sometimes use Carcanos instead of Steyr Mannlichers.
I got 1 of those 8 months ago before they had the in different grades. I don't always have time to completely disassemble them when I get the guns I just quickly check for missing parts and a functioning bolt. Well I finally got to taking it apart and found when I took it out of the stock the barrel was not tight in the receiver! I went to take the pin out and remove the trigger assembly and the receiver turned.. I got ahold of them well long story short take everything apart when you get it because they will do nothing about it if you wait.
Great video. Sucks that you got a bulged barrel that happened to me with a K98 yugo I got from them a few years ago. I recently got an M 88/90. That was also B grade on sell, but had a crack stock all the way through. I emailed them two weeks ago but haven’t got a reply and I also called and left a message last Thursday or Friday and never got a call back or anything either. Make sure you post to video and let us know if they reply back to you.
Nice a carcano 6.5 I think have one for 25 years second gun I got for 100 dollars ammo can be had i had original world war II Italian ammo what used it stupidly it came with three clips still have those
I see your collection of military bolt action rifles is growing. I wish to collect these myself one day. I am worried though that the window of opportunity is closing now, since a lot of people like these rifles, there are finite number of them and I haven't even started yet. I would like to move to the US and collect historical firearms, but since I am trying to get in legally it is difficult, apparently people such as myself are no longer needed/welcome since I'm white and I'm not trying to swim across Rio Grande.
I’ve ordered a Carcano 1891 it had a loose barrel had it sent back and received a replacement and that one had a loose barrel, did the same thing, I did it 3 times and all had loose barrels I’m currently waiting on a 4th replacement
I know this was a year ago. Hopefully you see this. I have a B Grade long Carcano from RTI. It’s a fantastic shooter!! 3lbs trigger pull, light recoil, takes the enbloc clips. I recently picked up a B Grade Lee Enfield no1 mk3 less the bolt and magazine. Received a complete garbage rod! Missing the safety, rear hand guard, new to rifle front hand guard, the stock is so worn NO hand guard will be able the match up to the stock. Usual rust and grime. For the love of God if you’re not going to include the bolt and magazine at vary least make sure the rest of the rifle is complete. Have no idea the condition of the bore being full of dirt. On top of everything else it took 5 weeks to receive this piece of crap. Reaching out to them to see what they are will to do to make this right. Would love to know what they did for you.
They offered to let me exchange it, but they never sent the shipping label. I called again with the same problem. I sold it at a gunshow, and the guy was still willing to buy it despite the bulge.
Hey John, have you gotten 6.5 to fire this yet? I recently got an 1891 Carcano rifle (Carbine is ordered but not yet shipped) from RTI also. Brand new ammo, getting primer strikes but not firing. Maybe I need an extra spring piece like yours to get that firing pin hit harder? Good luck!
Say what you will about RTI. They are extremely slow to respond to customer service inquiries from other TH-camrs I watch, Namely Readiness Reviews. He had similar issues with RTI regarding a Mannlicher he ordered. RTI was very good about the issue when they did eventually get back to him, giving a store credit for the grade difference between rifles. Granted, he didn't seem to push the issue, so you likely could ask for an exchange, and RTI would probably take greater care and send a hand select for quality to make up the inconvenience. At least your rifle is 100 years old. I had an issue with a Rossi R92 made last year before I even shot it, and Rossi needed 4 months to even offer me options in regards to replacement or a refund
I will Never buy another Thing from Them........... I rather spend more to get a decent rifle that I can shoot....There's other places to get Milsurp's in better shape....be well.
What’s ridiculous is you’re buying rifles from them that haven’t been taken care of. So you never know what you’re going to get. Their grading system is way off and they overcharge you. Now I do know they get some rifles in that are in good condition, but they usually aren’t out of Africa, lol
Booo RTI!! 👎 you better do John right! John, great vid as always love your reviews and unboxings. Your update on RTI will def sway me to buy or not from them. Good luck, good sir! Philippians 4:13
I would tend to believe they just missed it. As someone who sells a lot of used vintage items on the side, the way the phrase their descriptions and the array of pictures they provide all seems very unprofessional and ill thought out.
Send it back.......I will Never buy from them again.......Just Not Worth trying to rebuild a Carcano even though it's cheaper.... Milsurp parts are Very hard to get these days.. I was just in Sarco's in Pa. and their inventory is very low......... Everyone is looking for parts for their RTI buys...... Good luck.. MB.
@@8mmmauserman If you don't hear from them tell them you're doing a charge back on your credit card. You shouldn't have to pay for an inferior product you don't want.
American are too fussy. In the hand of Eastern European this gun will kill many deer and wild boar. Rifle like this is real treasure for country where people are not allowed to own guns.
You realize that with a bulged barrel this will likely be about 2 foot group at 25 meters, and the bullet will be tumbling? It would be inhumane to try and shoot an animal with this.
Actually, you can be both "conservative" and "liberal" depending on the topic. For example, I am both pro 2d Amendment and pro choice. That is probably the definition of a moderate. I tend to be "conservative" on fiscal matters and more "liberal" on social issues. And I know folk who are pretty liberal on most things but are "gun" folk too.
I bet they do something for you. Keep us posted. I love these videos because it gives the rest of us a chance to see what we might receive.
Glad to help!

I decided to roll the dice on one of these B grade 1891s as well. Though I have a lathe and milling machine, so I can generally repair most things.
