To anyone who was paying attention, Amazon already tried to make a "GoT-style" show. It was Wheel of Time, and they literally made all the exact same mistakes, fucking with the lore, trying to make everything a college-brochure rainbow of diversity so that even families don't look related, and reducing men to subservient roles and turning it all into a vehicle for girl-power (which is ironic because the WoT already had a pretty progressive view on the roles of men and women in the world, but evidently men having any important role that women can't fulfill isn't good enough, only women are allowed to be special). This was the template, it was a spectacular mess, and they chose to learn nothing, so they deserve everything they get.
I mean, yeah, but you are painting it with broad strokes. WoT's failings are a bit deeper than Girl power and fucking with the lore. There are series that have played with the lore, added in girl power elements, and still pulled off competent story telling.
Congrats you have actually made a script that with some work could be a viable seasons 2. Throw in some smart harfoots who settled down in a nice place called the shire. Who hate their hat foot kin and thus call themselves hobbits. And have female harfoot join them becoming the first baggins or something. Have Gandalf fuck off to Rhun to investigate the weird magic ladies and everything’s in a good place. Also don’t even try to make something work between Black Legolas and town wrench just cut them totally from the script. Embrace the non canonical nature of the show. Humanize Sauron and the orcs and demonize the elves. Have the elves bicker and fight over the crown. Throw in some more elf kin slaying. Meanwhile Sauron helps lead the races of men and orc together towards greatness. Where Sauron works to lessen the evil he brought into world by giving the orcs the chance to be something more then mindless cannon fodder. Season threes conflict will be a mix of elvish infighting Sauron’s rebuilding. Morias still healing from the civil war but are mining Mithril freely and sell it to anyone who can afford it. And the big center piece Numenor and which faction they side with. Cut out the other evil counselor guy. Have the Queen be healed by some elf medicine or something. And the conflict will be between Elendil who sees the future in Sauron’s new world. And the Queen who remains staunch in her support to Galadriel and the elvish cause. Boom everything’s fixed. Portray ethnic groups in realistic ways. We can throw in some fun interesting easterling lore. And boom there’s out show.
@@21TheRonin Sure thing! First off there is the Boys. They changed a lot of aspects from the comics. And added in more prominent roles for the female characters in the show. While still keeping the show awesome. That's probably the best example of improving on the source material while still giving female characters in the show their due. And is probably the gold standard. Then, in the world of animation, there is the She Ra remake. It lacks a lot of the nostalgia of the old Hanna-Barbara cartoon. But I'd be freaking liar if I tried to claim that they didn't improve on the characterization and over all animation quality of the show. Those are the two stand out examples. Where the lore was tweaked and more female characters in prominent roles were added. But they kept the soul of the show intact. And improved on the source material in many ways.
Mordor should be a strict meritocracy, standing by the noble principles of "You don't work, you don't eat. Also we got free drinking water. Drinking the tapeworms inside it is completely optional." And put the Harfoots in heavy labour.
Why not hire a competent group with a proven track record to write and film this ? Why not ditch Amazons diversity hire list ( yes Amazon has diversity list with percentages of specific groups that they must include) and hire competent actors with proven ability ? I see a theme forming here .

Rhaenyra was an idiot, selfish, deeply flawed but far more fascinating as a character than the psycho Galadriel became. She supported her absent gay poc husband and helped him escape with his lover, which is more interesting than the entire show. It's just better.
A bad ass, heavily masculine Conan show would have been a banger. Nothing but action. Conan wanders the land making money as a sword for hire. He gets tasked with helping protect and transport a woman to her home, she is being pursued by bandits and assassins. Lots of blood, boobs, and fights later the woman he was escorting turns out to be a witch queen who takes back her thrown and banishes Conan and crippling him to a corner of the world. He eats steak, drinks whiskey, and works out all to buildup for him later to take revenge. Finds his way back to the castle, with some friends they usurp the throne and one beheading waiting to happen later, he becomes the king of the land. Then more boobs and fighting.
Goblin-Harfoots, Sauron becomes a full-on jock, and Disa( or Disanberg now) as a villainess. This is already better than whatever Rings of Girl Power season 2 is going to be. Thanks Despot!
The answer is for season 2 to start with Galadriel waking up distressed. She says, 'I just had the most awful nightmare, where I had fallen into hubris, evil and madness!'. Then the series can start again, with proper scripting.
I would actually watch your version of Rings of Power. My only critique is that I really want to see Galadriel as the psycho genocidal villain that she actually is, so please don’t give her a redemption arc in the third season!

I mean there should be no survivors which would explain why there was NO KINDS OF HOBBITS in middle earth this age. They died out completely and everyone forgot. Same as all the black people apparently since they dont exist once time comes for lord of the ring.

Fun fact…interesting fact…a fact of some sort: I found Despot’s random choice of Maglor intriguing because as one of Feanor’s sons, Maglor was actually among one of the greatest villains among the elves, involved in the kinslaying and other evil deeds perpetrated by the sons of Feanor and their followers in their pursuit of the stolen Silmarils. Maybe it wasn’t such a random choice after all?…or maybe just luck.
This actually made me hyped for season 2 despite what amazone have produced so far. To be clear, if amazone produces this it would redeem them for season 1

The Ide to make harfoots the ansestors to goblins is a really good one. That would surprise everyone and make a lot of sens. The non cannon drew elf and drew dwarf dont need more plot. Just kill them together with all the other non cannon people who was created to annoy the fans. Also make "not Gandalf" to really not be Gandalf. It would be better and make more sens if he was Saruman. But he can still be just about anyone or anything.

I thought this woupd be a serious rewrite, only to be pleasantly surprised it was mockery, only to realize that this is unironically the ONLY way to save the show: turn it into utter parody.
The only "problem" with this plot is, that the black elf is portrayed as villain. Encouraging racism. We cannot portray black people as villain in modern media. So his sublot needs a slight alteration of not being that much of an evil selfish lunatic, but more like switching the girls, because he is an elf. He is fully aware, that humans die so no point on long relationship with them. Just f*** the girl, then leave her. Otherwise it is not bad.

Still a better love story than Twilight. :P How about making it so that the real Galadriel was imprisoned together with her husband Celeborn (who we know is still alive due to him being in Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship) and the Galadriel we see the entire first season was actually an evil shape-shifter. One that is a Sauron fangirl who didn't take well to Sauron's attempts to redeem himself and become good and wanted to guide/force him back into being the evil dark lord she fell for. And while she's doing that, she also used the opportinity to undermine Galadriel's good reputation. At least that way her arrogant, insulting, disrespectful and confrontational behaviour makes sense.

The Ide to make harfoots the ansestors to goblins is a really good one. That would surprise everyone and make a lot of sens. The non cannon drew elf and drew dwarf dont need more plot. Just kill them together with all the other non cannon people who was created to annoy the fans. Also make "not Gandalf" to really not be Gandalf. It would be better and make more sens if he was Saruman. But he can still be just about anyone or anything.

The only "problem" with this plot is, that the black elf is portrayed as villain. Encouraging racism. We cannot portray black people as villain in modern media. So his sublot needs a slight alteration of not being that much of an evil selfish lunatic, but more like switching the girls, because he is an elf. He is fully aware, that humans die so no point on long relationship with them. Just f*** the girl, then leave her. Otherwise it is not bad.

How about making it so that the real Galadriel was imprisoned together with her husband Celeborn (who we know is still alive due to him being in Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship) and the Galadriel we see the entire first season was actually an evil shape-shifter. One that is a Sauron fangirl who didn't take well to Sauron's attempts to redeem himself and become good and wanted to guide/force him back into being the evil dark lord she fell for. And while she's doing that, she also used the opportinity to undermine Galadriel's good reputation. At least that way her arrogant, insulting, disrespectful and confrontational behaviour makes sense.
I would be a hundred percent invested in this show.
