In this video I show you a weird gravitational anomaly I found in my kitchen that makes things roll uphill instead of down! I talk about things like gravity road and the Santa Cruz mystery spot where water seems to flow uphill and balls roll uphill and things don't tip over like they are supposed to. The only reason I figured it out was because he wasn’t starting it at the bottom because it would stop rolling if he did and it also slowed down at the end or some of its rolling

I’ll save you some time. He weighted the top of the styrofoam disk to make it’s center of mass unbalanced and cause it to roll forward.
I figured that was how it rolled up hill before he disclosed the trick and so did you!

I feel so smort that I figured it out beforehand, including the center of gravity stuff. I'm so proud of myself that all my time learning made this difference. I don't really mean that in an ego way or I hope I don't, I've just spent so much time that I could come to the conclusion.
I didn't actually figure it out but I was just like, what if the centre of mass of the wheel isn't in the centre?(I was actually thinking a semi disc was fit inside making its centre of mass go up by 2r/pi but was close enough lol.)

I've been to the "Mystery Spot" In Santa Cruz, and while its a great place, and a lot of fun, it is also a massive Optical illusion, build up to look like something other worldly, through carefully placed objects and construction in the area. So much in fact that Universal Studio's and Knotts Berry Farm, also had their own versions of it using similar visual manipulation techniques.

This happens with my refrigerator door in my house. It swings back into the fridge but it is at an angle where it should swing out. The house is also spooky as all hell and I’m pretty sure it was made over 100 years ago.

Hah! I actually wasnt fooled by the styrofoam wheel going up the ramp, since I noticed that there was a spot which seemed to emit red light, so I guessed it was a piece of metal that probably reflected the orange color from the book at the end of the ramp. :D

I love watching these. But so-called "soft" sciences like linguistics have their charms as well. 3:06 , 3:10 , and 5:35 exemplify a phenomenon I have been observing in American English for some time. Notice how he says "mountain" and "button". Where is the 't' sound? It is absent in "button" and the first instance of 'mountain'. I have been noticing that intervocalic 't', that is, 't' between vowels, seems to be less common the younger people are. Americans of my generation pronounce all of them. This is evidence of the language evolving. Languages are systems subject to evolution over time, like many other systems. I would predict that, a few generations from now, intervocalic 't' will not exist, or be very rare, in American English. A real linguist would go out and gather data, to verify and track a trend like this. They might also try to construct theories to explain what rules govern the presence or absence of the 't', and check predictions based on the theory against real data. Linguists see languages as systems governed by laws, which they are trying to discover and codify.
Linguists do not see these as examples of "mispronunciation". The correct pronunciations are the ones native speakers use. Dictionaries merely document what speakers do, not prescribe what they should do. As languages change, dictionaries change to match. A dictionary 50 years from now might show a glottal stop rather than a 't' in the middle of "button".
I don't mind you going off at at a tangent (so to speak) seeing as Mr Action Lab was having a joke on us this time. Interesting that when he says "mountain" first time it's without the 't' (3:06), but a couple of seconds later he repeats the word with a 't'. Maybe he's in transition. When I did linguistics at uni this was known as a glottal stop, the point being that the 't' isn't just being dropped but replaced with a different consonant formed somewhere in the back of the throat. Quite common in the UK, where in some parts (like northeast England) they even say 'gravity' like that. Will we all be talking like that one day? Wha'ever.

I figure whoever transcribed it was using those 't's to spell a glottal stop, since many Brits would pronounce it that way. The 'l' was unvoiced--how would you spell that? Eventually Americans will again replace the t with a glottal stop if current trends continue. How to get us to palatalize the vowel and devoice that syllabic liquid at the end, though?

I visited a "gravity hill" road here in Sweden som time ago, very close to the ski resort Idre Fjäll.
We actually tried leaving the car and walking around on that hill, and that felt super-weird;
it looked like we were walking upward, but we were actually walking downward, and this tricked our brains and caused a lot of confusion, and it was a very dizzying experience.

At first, I actually think that experiment shows something real mystery, then I figure out what going on at last. It is such an practically physical analysis!
If the screw was positioned before the 12.00 position then the foam wheel which has little weight would have gone down hill. It is weight distribution and not mass which will affect the direction the wheel travels.
The mystery in Santa Cruz mystery spot is just that the direction of gravity(down direction) isn't obvious from the looks of the surroundings. You bring a gyroscope with you and you will know the down direction. There will be no change in the gravity as you approach the mountain.

The water flowing uphill is called a "false flat." Cyclists often encounter them. They're optical illusions where the road _appears_ to be uphill, but is actually flat or _appears_ to be flat, but is actually uphill.

In a Brazilian city called Belo Horizonte, there's a street with an effect like this. (Although there I think it's more of an optical illusion...) You stop your car at the bottom of the street, put it in neutral, and it starts going uphill. The popular name of the street is "Rua do Amendoim" (Peanut Street) because peanuts are believed to be aphrodisiacs so... things go up.
