I literally remember playing with the water like that whenever I was bored while washing dishes. I never knew I was simulating a white hole. I control the universe now.
An object does not take an infinite amount of time to reach the event horizon. The light it emits/bounces on it takes an increasingly long amount of time to reach an outside observer and that time tends to infinity near the event horizon. By the time you see the object about to fall into the black hole, it already fell a long time ago. For a white hole, it means an observer that would be at the singularity (and not outside) would see the objects leaving the white hole takes a near infinite amount of time to leave because the light would be fighting off to get back to the center, but the object would have left the inside of the white hole a long time ago.
Nah he is correct. It has nothing to do with light getting from the object to the observer though the light taking longer to get to the observer is a side effect of the slower time. The "speed" of time is affected by both the curvature of space from gravity as well as the velocity of the object. The faster you go, or more relevant to this scenario, the closer you get to an infinitely steeply curved bit of space the slower time is from an outside perspective. This is why that scene from interstellar was a thing where the people who went down to the planet that was closer to the black hole aged slower than the guy who stayed in the ship farther away from the black hole. The closer you get to the singularity the slower time goes until you get to the event horizon at which point time essentially gets infinitely slow. From the perspective of something not at the event horizon objects will take an infinitely long amount of time to fall in.
@@eaglestdogg From the observer PoV only light travelling from the object to the observer is important. For the object falling in the blackhole, the experienced dilation do not get near infinity, otherwise a blackhole would never be able to absorb more matter as it would take an infinite amount of time to absorb it.

If you have anything having speed more than the speed of light / negative matter, you can escape from one end to another i.e. from black hole to white hole or even can try crossing through white hole. This all really seems like there is a fourth physical dimension, and if we ever found a white hole it would go a long way in proving that. The simulation you did with water was a two dimensional one, with the water flowing from the outside and then observing the behavior on the flat surface you were pouring it into. So to any two dimensional observers in the water, the flow would appear to be coming from nowhere, and the way you put the food coloring in was by dropping it from above. So a three dimensional version of this would require a forth dimension for it to come from. I’m sure you all already know all this, but it only occurred to me just now
His water examples a very crude but understandable analogy - and is unrelated to the mathematical dimension that you are conceiving. Best not to get lost in the symbols he is using. Science does this all the time - like representing an atom as little balls that are stuck together - which is also totally inaccurate. (~ a physicist)
Best explanation I've seen is that White holes are just black hole in reverse time (PBS space time explained it super well). Sounds like a cop-out, but direction of time is relevant. Wildly accepted hawking radiation relies on it.
As I recall Hawking radiation rather has to do with particle and anti-particle pairs popping into existince in the fabric of space time, which is actually not a vacuum, and instead of cancelling out each other back to the initial state of non-existence, one particle of the pair getting caught if it is close enough to the event horizon of a black hole and the other particle of the pair escaping the boundary zone in the form of radiation. Another very weird phenomenon is the Casimir effect, which also experimentally proves the existence of those particle anti-particle fluctuations happening all the time in the so-called vacuum of space-time continuum
What is the big bang ( the thing that made the universe not the tv show ) was just a white hole and everything that came out of the white hole is from a different universe
Just as black hole mass is concentrated at a singularity, and our universe, which is a white hole has been constantly expanding where the mass is distributed..

This just supports my personal theory on the universe! My theory is that at some point, everything is one black hole. The entire universe has been consumed. Now, it starts spitting it out, becoming a white hole. This is how the Big Bang starts! This universe is either the white hole spitting stuff out or the remains of that! That’s my theory.
I love that the idea of white holes existing is an attempt to explain away the perceived edge in SpaceTime created by a singularity instead of just admitting that singularities probably don't exist...
I personally like these longer, more theoretical videos more than the cool brief experiment based videos, but either way, love it as always. Thanks for the enlightenment!
You have extraordinary talent for explaining science to people with no scientific background, and without butchering the concepts. As a scientist myself this is something I admire.
Theory that is unrelated to anything- all matter is reused, if you go back in time before you were born and touch something it would explode or sum. And that's why Ms whatevermyteachersnameis I am dinosaur bones.
What you must not know is, that gravity doesn't exist. More accurately, it's an outdated concept; it's not a "force" - today we know it as curvature in space-time. So it's pretty clear with this knowledge that "negative gravity" could exist, as it would just be curvature in space-time, but in the opposite direction to usual
There is nothing more practical than good theory. If you know only bad theories then I am not surprised you think that "theory is unrelated to anything".
Actually kugelblitz is a special type of black hole created at extreme heat I don't remember the exact temperature but it's around 148 nonillion degrees Celsius.

Hawking's argument against the possibility of time travel to the past is the most convincing I've ever seen. At least a little energy would flow through whatever portal you're using, which would mean there would be more energy in the present, which means more energy would flow through, which means there would be more energy in the present... etc. Creating any kind of time travel to the past would blow up the universe with an infinite energy feedback loop.
@@arianaa3887 Well, neutron stars are the remnants of a star that has depleted the fuel in its nucleus and exploded in a type ii, ib or ic supernova. They're called neutron stars due to the fact that their strong gravitational forces have pulled atoms so close together that protons and electrons cancel each other out and form neutrons, this is what they are mostly composed of, and as I mentioned before, these neutron stars have great gravitational forces, however, they are not strong enough to compress mass into a singularity (and form a black hole) yet. (Their density is equivalent to that of a Boeing 747 compressed down to the size of a grain of sand!!). This is why I said they could be considered "gray holes", they have enormous gravitational forces, but not strong enough to form a singularity at the center. (Though I still wouldn't call them gray holes, it's an interesting thing to think about!) PS: Keep in mind I haven't been to school for any of this. This text was constructed purely off of videos I've watched and wikipedia entries, so forgive me if I made any mistakes, I would appreciate being corrected by someone with greater knowledge, thank you in advance!! PS 2: English is not my first language, so I apologize once again if I made any grammatical/ortographic mistakes!
@Ghulam Rasool What I think would happen if a white hole and a black hole were so close together is that the black hole would just compress the mass that once was in the white and is now being spewed. I don't think the black hole would move away from the white hole unless it got to the event horizon, but I feel like if the black hole were *really* close to the white hole, we would just see the latter, as the black hole would be surrounded by copious amounts of light and matter, it would be almost impossible to see it in there.

White Hole: Leaf Blower

This just supports my personal theory on the universe! My theory is that at some point, everything is one black hole. The entire universe has been consumed. Now, it starts spitting it out, becoming a white hole. This is how the Big Bang starts! This universe is either the white hole spitting stuff out or the remains of that! That’s my theory.

Hold on. You're onto something
Great thory
It's crazy, I had NEVER heard the expression "white hole" before :o super interesting thank you!
So innocent
Theory- In order for a white hole to expel all matter, it would have a negative gravity. Therefore, negative gravity exists.
Theory that is unrelated to anything- all matter is reused, if you go back in time before you were born and touch something it would explode or sum.
And that's why Ms whatevermyteachersnameis
I am dinosaur bones.

White or black holes, what about "Grey holes" 😶😮🤔😉
Perhaps a neutron star could be considered a gray hole?
(Though I still wouldn't call them gray holes, it's an interesting thing to think about!)
PS: Keep in mind I haven't been to school for any of this.
Maybe Grey holes come in between of black and white holes. Just kidding
Cube-nyx Productions white is a shade of gray
@Ghulam Rasool What I think would happen if a white hole and a black hole were so close together is that the black hole would just compress the mass that once was in the white and is now being spewed.
I don't think the black hole would move away from the white hole unless it got to the event horizon, but I feel like if the black hole were *really* close to the white hole, we would just see the latter, as the black hole would be surrounded by copious amounts of light and matter, it would be almost impossible to see it in there.
