I pondered on the idea of the highest suspension bridge in the world being built in 1929. It scares me half to death NOW, much less back then with lesser safety features. I’ve said before, Iron Workers are a unique and special breed. Thankfully, I did not have to make my living that way. Safe travels, D & S! 💕🛣️🚘
Yes, that crossed my mind, as well. The thing is, you once could drive across it, so it was apparently built very well. There was a fire there a few years back, and that was also in my mind when walking across it. But since it was years ago, and thousands of people have walked on it since then and before we got there last week, we figured it would be okay. It is very scenic.
The bridge is way up there, the view is beautiful. I am like you, I wouldn't go on the rides either. I bet rock climbers love it. Have a wonderful day. ❤❤😊
We took the little incline down into the gorge last time we were out there, and the train was coming through at that time. When it blew its horn, that sound was so loud, being down in the gorge like that. We were standing on the outside of it. That incline was destroyed in the fires several years back, we found out.
I thought Grandfather Mountain bridge was high..yikes! I think we would enjoy the thrill of crossing this one too, but Wow! Really enjoyed your video. Safe travels.
Derrick and Shawnasi thank you for taking me across this bridge. There is NO WAY that I would be able to do that. You remember what I told you about my experience on tbe mile high swinging bridge on Grandfather Mountain. That view is amazing. You can see how the flood carved out that out and created that beauty.
Glad you enjoyed it! This one doesn't swing nearly as bad as the one on Grandfather. But this one is also a lot higher up...over 1,000 foot drop. Thanks for watching! Hope you all are doing well!
@@amymclemore6551 it has really skyrocketed in price since the last time we were here. In my opinion, it's too high for what you get. It is a nice view, however.
Hi there you guys hope you enjoy your trip there is no way someone pay me to get on the bridge i will look at a video im a chicken but im glad people enjoy it God bless you both
@MegaBait1616 We already posted the Pikes Peak video on July 4th. Look for "America The Beautiful". We're flying home today, so we won't be able to do the museum tour. But we definitely weren't going to miss Pikes Peak.

@cathymcgee1674 Thank you. You have a wonderful day, also.
There is a great scenic train ride that goes through the canyon below. "The Royal Gorge Route" train. Lots of amazing sights. Enjoy

Yes, Royal Gorge is very high above the canyon floor. It swings as well, but not as much as Grandfather's bridge does.

Beautiful views. I don't know if I could do that bridge. God bless.
It's not bad. The view is beautiful. Just don't go in the rain like we did.
Thank you i love it
@@markdale6784 Thank you!
Great views! Sorry about the rain. We'll watch several times for you. That admission charge is pretty steep. The gorge is beautiful, though.

@dpmart3275 Yeah, I figured I might as well make the best of a bad situation, by trying to add some humor.

If you ever saw the costume character Gorgeous, the Chipmunk, around 86-88, that was my wife!
Oh, wow. I haven't seen that. Was she at the Royal Gorge at that time?
@@NCMemoryMakers yes....I'll email you
Now that’s a bridge….a little higher than Grandfather Mountain, sorry you got wet. 😂
@@DonnaAnders-w4dYeah, the skies opened up about 2/3 of the way out, and there was nothing to do besides run to the nearest shelter.
