When I was a child, many years ago, living in Missouri, we had no access to cod, or other ocean caught fish, but my mother would make us take a large tablespoon of cod liver oil, every day, especially in the winter. We would have salmon patties (from canned salmon) several times a month. We had freshwater fish at least once a week, (more in the summertime since we caught them) and a salad with every meal. There was always fruit available. We also had grass-fed beef, pork, or chicken with at least one or two meals daily. Green veggies at least twice a day. Home-made bread and usually fruit-filled pies or cake most days. My mother was intuitively smart about our diets and she set us up to eat properly. I still eat well, though less meat now. With my handful of supplements (including krill oil, no meds) I am a very, very healthy 77-year-old.
Dr Berg notes: Dr Berg talks about fish oil benefits and the importance of omega-3 fatty acids. Both cod liver oil and fish oil contain omega-3 fatty acids, with the addition of vitamin A and vitamin D in cod liver oil. Around 25% of the fat in your brain is the omega-3 fatty acid, DHA. Most of this fat is in the frontal cortex, which supports memory, focus, concentration, and attention. DHA supports the integrity of the membranes around the neurons and supports the retina. It also protects against inflammation, UV radiation, and macular degeneration. Omega-3 fatty acids keep skin smooth and protect against acne, psoriasis, eczema, dry skin, red skin, and ultraviolet light. They can also help remineralize bone, decrease the risk of osteoporosis, and improve arthritis and joint inflammation. Taking cod liver oil or fish oil for 30 days has even more potential benefits, including the following: •Supports liver health •Helps regulate blood sugar •Helps reverse insulin resistance •Supports inside of the arteries •Reduces symptoms of asthma and allergies •Supports fertility •Helps eliminate soreness and inflammation after exercise Avoid choosing fish oil based on price alone. Some fish oils are poor quality and may be rancid or oxidized. Know the source of your fish oil to avoid getting a product contaminated with heavy metals such as lead, arsenic, or mercury. Fish oil and cod liver oil may taste like fish, but they shouldn’t have a rancid taste. To minimize the taste, try looking for supplements in pearl form. Omega-3 foods include fatty fish such as wild-caught salmon, herring, mackerel, and sardines. Shellfish and grass-fed dairy products also contain omega-3 fatty acids. Thank you Dr Berg! 😺👍

Dr. Berg, I totally respect you as a medical doctor and I truly enjoy your videos... but the title of this video is indeed misleading (many complaints below). I choose to give you the benefit of the doubt that it was an honest mistake and perhaps it was your staff who came up with this title as a click bait and not created by you directly. I have always loved the taste of fish. I grew up on a dairy farm, so we used milk from the barn. My mom always gave me cod liver oil to supplement the raw milk. I remember licking the spoon and begging for more. Your good advice should be easy for me to follow!
I've stopped taking Fish Oil from supplements because of the new studies that show that fish oils are very sensitive to oxidization (not being stored in low temperatures can cause this as well as overtime oxidization and others) and when this oils oxidize they release harmful components that have been shown to have negative impact on our body and health like bad skin elasticity and others. Instead I just eat fresh salmon or fish once in a while, and I have been adding flax seeds to my diet to get Omegas ever since, I just add a daily tbsp of blended flax seed mixed with some water and it works great!, I've been giving this mix to my mom and it has greatly relieved her Peripheral Neuropathy, I just think this is worth mentioning and useful information to look at. (BTW I threw away my vitamin A and Beta-carotene supplement pills and just bought some carrots lol, sometimes natural sources are just the best option)

Omega-3s, primarily DHA, are crucial for brain function, supporting memory, focus, and protecting against inflammation. They also benefit eye health by supporting the retina and protecting against UV radiation. In the skin, omega-3s promote smoothness and protect against conditions like acne and psoriasis. Additionally, they aid bone health, reduce inflammation in joints and the liver, balance blood sugars, and support cardiovascular health by reducing arterial inflammation. Fish oils may also alleviate symptoms of asthma and allergies, support reproductive health, and aid in post-exercise recovery. However, caution is advised in choosing fish oils to avoid rancidity and contamination with heavy metals.
I don't believe Dr. Berg answered the question in the title of this video. Did He? He taught us the benefits, but I didn't hear him say what happened to him.

Dr Berg notes:
Dr Berg talks about fish oil benefits and the importance of omega-3 fatty acids.
Taking cod liver oil or fish oil for 30 days has even more potential benefits, including the following:
•Supports liver health
•Helps regulate blood sugar
•Helps reverse insulin resistance
•Supports inside of the arteries
•Reduces symptoms of asthma and allergies
•Supports fertility
•Helps eliminate soreness and inflammation after exercise
Avoid choosing fish oil based on price alone.
😺👍
THANK YOU !

1. What Oceans Are Safe Sources for Cod Liver Oil?
Cod liver oil typically comes from cod caught in the Atlantic Ocean, particularly around the North Atlantic region, including the waters of Norway, Iceland, and Greenland. These areas are known for their cold, clean waters, which are ideal for sourcing high-quality cod liver oil. The safest sources generally come from:
Norwegian Waters: Renowned for their strict environmental regulations and sustainable fishing practices.
Icelandic Waters: Known for pristine, cold waters with minimal pollution. Alaskan Waters: Cod from the Bering Sea and Gulf of Alaska are also considered safe due to sustainable fishing practices and clean waters.
2. What Brands Are Processed in the USA and Not in China?
When looking for cod liver oil brands processed in the USA, it’s essential to choose those that explicitly state their country of processing on the label or website. Some brands that are known for processing their products in the USA or Europe, rather than China, include:
Carlson Labs: Often cited as a high-quality brand, with products processed in Norway and the USA.
Nordic Naturals: This brand sources its fish oil from Norwegian waters and processes it in Norway, though they have some processing facilities in the USA.
Green Pasture: Their cod liver oil is fermented and processed in the USA.
3. What to Look for on the Label?
When selecting cod liver oil, here are key things to look for on the label:
Source of the Cod: Ensure the label specifies the origin of the cod, such as “Norwegian cod” or “Icelandic cod.”
Purity and Testing: Look for certifications like IFOS (International Fish Oil Standards) or third-party testing for heavy metals, PCBs, and other contaminants.
Processing Method: Cold-pressed or fermented oils are preferred as they retain more nutrients.
EPA and DHA Content: These are the beneficial omega-3 fatty acids, and higher levels indicate a more potent product.
Vitamin A and D Content: Cod liver oil is naturally rich in these vitamins. Check the levels to ensure they meet your nutritional needs without exceeding safe limits.
Additives and Flavorings: Choose products with minimal additives and natural flavorings if possible.
4. What Happens After 30 Days of Consuming Fish Oil and Cod Liver Oil?
After 30 days of consistent consumption, you might experience several potential benefits, though individual results can vary:
Improved Heart Health: Omega-3 fatty acids in fish oil can help lower triglycerides, reduce blood pressure slightly, and improve overall cardiovascular health.
Enhanced Brain Function: Omega-3s are vital for brain health, potentially leading to improved cognitive function, memory, and mood stability.
Reduced Inflammation: Cod liver oil’s anti-inflammatory properties can reduce joint pain and stiffness, particularly in individuals with rheumatoid arthritis.
Better Vision: The high vitamin A content in cod liver oil supports eye health and may reduce the risk of age-related macular degeneration.
Stronger Immune System: Vitamin D in cod liver oil can boost immune function, helping your body fend off illnesses more effectively.
Skin Health: Cod liver oil may improve skin hydration and reduce symptoms of eczema and acne.
It’s important to monitor for any adverse effects, such as gastrointestinal discomfort, an unpleasant aftertaste, or potential overdosing on vitamins A and D if consumed in excess. Consulting with a healthcare professional before starting any new supplement regimen is advisable to ensure it’s appropriate for your specific health needs.
The subject matter of Omega-3 fatty acids is incredibly important and I am reminded once again to take them more regularly. In my book, you're all good... but you really should change the title to reflect the actual message of this video, cuz I'm curious just like everyone else as to what happened after 30 days of taking Omega-3 fish oil. Keep up the great work, doc! :) cheers!

A fish oil with DPA (docosapentaenoic acid), the third most prevalent omega-3 fatty acid, is a fish oil with integrity! DPA omega-3 plays an important role in the gut and microbiome. Thanks a bunch! Have a great day, y'all!.
You mean DHA? Docosahexaenoic?
