Hey, I’m in Fairbanks! Love it here. Came here from St. Louis by way of San Antonio, TX. So glad to be away from the rat race and MATERIALISM! People are good here. Odd, many of them, but good. Lower 48 is scary nowadays.

I'm way to old to live in Alaska. If I were younger, I sure would. Alaska would kill me at this point in my life. It's a tough state, and you need to be tough! I'm too old... you did the right thing, moving when young. You have years to adapt. It is a beautiful, great state ❤

Alaska Prepper mention your channel. Nice video! Alaska sounds beautiful however I'm not a fan of the coldness, animals or length of darkness. Keep up the good work!

This is an excellent video. I will never move to Alaska because of my situation. But the lure is there for many.

I’d definitely consider Alaska over any other state to be honest Billy. Much the same as Ontario. Pug nation has me up early.

I've lived here over 40 years myself and I can't disagree with anything you said here. What people need to be aware of and understand well before considering moving to Fairbanks is that all the things you are used to getting just by driving a mile or two to a store comes to Alaska only by ship or plane, just like Hawaii. That means everything is 100% more expensive and some things you just flat can't get. If you intend to live in or near the city you will need a job, and a good one at that. Fairbanks is expensive because of it's isolation and the fact that many of the jobs around here pay pretty darn good, and most of the merchants around here are aware of that. If your goal is to live off the land you can certainly do that and I know plenty of people that do. You will have to know what you're doing, though, and you should know it before you get here. During the summer a complete idiot could live off the land here. If you don't know what you are doing, winter will kill you. Don't expect to make it with a backpack tent and a Coleman stove.
Essentially, if you are going to live around here you need to be able to have fun in winter because it is by far the dominant season. This is one of the few places I know where it's not uncommon to hear someone say, "Hey, it's 30 below outside" and your response would be, "Yessss!" because earlier it was 40 below😄
