I couldn't agree with you more. My everyday watch has turned out to be a PAM560. It hasn't come off my wrist for the past 3 years, been everywhere with me and suits my casual style. I don't know what it is about Panerai but I just love them. The beauty is in their simplicity.
You made that beautiful piece of horological history shine! The close-ups are just as good as it gets and they go hand in hand with your voice overs. For those who are on the fence about buying a Panerai: I challenge you not to buy one after watching this video! Instant upvote!
Your watch content is infinitely more interesting than your contemporaries on TH-cam, especially combined with the majestic Venetian backdrop. Bravo Maestro 👏
Love panerai watches. I bought a limited edition panerai Luminor submersible 1950 3 day automatic 47mm Titanium. Must of been around 2015/16. At the time I only had this and an omega. Left the watch in the hotel room. Come back no watch. Stolen by some cleaner/ member of staff who knows. Could not afford to replace it at the time. Maybe I should get another one. Anyway I don’t leave my watches in hotel rooms any more. An expensive lesson to learn .
The Panerai really looks fantastic on you! I also have a Panerai 380 Radiomir that I absolutely love and recently had the pleasure of wearing it in Rome and visiting the Panerai store while there I picked up a new strap as a way to remind me of my trip
I just spent 2 Weeks on the Amalfi Coast and I took my Panerai Luminor Marina and got many approving nods from the locals! Classic and recognizable for sure
This is so true, I have a smaller wrist (17cm) and I wanted the Petit Prince IWC but my wife loved how the smaller IWC Spitfire looked on me, I trusted her opinion and have never looked back, I happen to be wearing that Spitfire today so I really resonated with your opinion.
This Panerai summary and the watch journey resonates with me a lot. I too am a bigger, solid guy. I used to consider watches the community would put forward. Most of the time because it looked good on them and suited their smaller frames. Gradually realised you have to buy for yourself and what suits you. A 40mm Rolex is well and good but pointless if it doesn’t wear well on you. Bought the Panerai 210. Never looked back. Perfection for my wrist. And personality.
Totally agree with you, the collecting stuff is ultimately nothing else but a journey to the right watch. Some find it sooner, some later, some never. Excellent content, as always. And by the way, as I commented on your white Speedy video, and you asked to let you know when I finally get it, still waiting. Cheers Udo
I just got back from Venice, my first visit, absolutely stunning. I thought of yourself whilst walking around as I was recognising some of the locations in your videos. Great stuff, love the relaxed delivery.
Love this video. Great point about others opinions of what you wear. I have a similar watch, the 372, and Panerai is the one that got me in to watches in the first place. I love the simple aesthetic. Enjoy it!
Great video, smart and original insights and synopsis. Like the look of Nove Marine, worth the shoutout. Have owned a Panerai. There’s something about them. Definitely suits you. Agree with the theme, often others know what suits you best, often what you’re looking for is not what you need, and what you love and resonates with you the most can save you £000s ! Great job
Hello from Los Angeles. The Nove watches are intriguing. I can see many design cues from other brands assembled into these . P.S. I enjoyed seeing you together with Sean on Instagram. Cheers ✌🏻
I mostly wear either my Tag Heuer F1 Calibre 5 or F1 Quartz Red Chrono. Both 43mm watches, and they fit my 7.2" wrist perfectly. A lot of popular watches 40mm and under look too small on my wrist.
Great video, Oisín! I just got back from my first trip to Ireland and only took my 44mm Luminor for the entire time - seeing it in photos certainly provided the perspective you're talking about! I also got to see several spots mentioned in your Dublin video!
Agree it's a journey! I would also submit that in addition to 'You're not wearing the right watch" - "Who are you wearing the watch for? Great advice to have someone come with you who knows you well and can offer another perspective. This happened to me recently when I picked up the PAM 716 Mare Nostrum a model from Panerai I never thought I would own or would look good on me; but it does. Fascinating. and all part of the journey. The Nove Marine is a cool piece!
Panerai watches are definitely your style. I have a large collection of watches and you have inspired me to look in different directions. I now own Tudor, JLC, Vasheron, Patel and now looking in the Panerai and Nomadic catalogs.
You originally inspired me to buy your old favourite omega 2255.80 which I love. I actually then bought the original rubber OEM rubber strap and and clasp which has the same adjust on the wrist mechanism as the Nove watch. Amazing I then saw a paneria 2231 that I just knew was me all over so had to have it. I love the stealth of it and wear at my work in the water industry during the day before donning the omega at night👍
Such insanely great points. I have a flat, 7” wrist and I’m hyper aware of what works and what doesn’t. So often I see a watch I love, but has no business being on my wrist. I see many people online that are completely wrist blind and wearing watches (typically) far too large for them. Style is subjective, but maths is maths 😂 - anyway, great content. New sub 😎👍🏼 oh, and gorgeous PAM. Looks fab on you.
Agree with everything here. I like watches that are as big as I can where, ideally 43 mm. I have some smaller watches that are OK but I prefer bigger watches. Also agree that gold doesn't suite fair skin but looks great on slightly darker skin. In the jewellery world people talk about being either a silver or gold person and this comes down skin colour or complexion.
I’d come to the same conclusion as you after collecting watches for about a decade and owning watches from almost every brand, and I have about 70 watches right now in my collection, I appreciate the beauty and simplicity of my Panerai 587. I have mine on a super thick Dirk strap.
This is so true. I did not realize it, but after watching this I took pics of my watches on and it did look different from the other angle. Some looked small and others just right. Great insight.
First time long time the watch that makes you happiest truly is the one! I have had many but I’m an Omega man no not the movie a planet ocean. Gotta love yours.
Watch content! And your special way with discussing this stuff. I've been wearing good mechanical watches for decades - (first interested in my fahter's Hamilton "Wilshire" by the late '50s (I have that 1940 one now) But you're already better at talking about them than I.
I thought that would have been 44mm before you said 47! You really can pull that off no problem. The thickness of the crystal on that model is wild and looks amazing.
quite like the Nove Atlanean the inner rotating bezel is cool. I quite like the Panerai also as it has a normal crown and lugs I do like it and the size.
Ditto on the rehauts they are an eyesore and they are an intrusion of space- like carrots popping up in dishes they dont belong in such as lasagna , The story I heard was they disbanded the frogmen after the glass bottom boats arrived , making it much easier to observe Italy's navy...
Hi Oisín, I always liked your videos and today I even have a reason to post a comment for you... =) If you like the 47mm size I would strongly recommend you to check out the Sinn U212, it is really a great watch and in my opinion highly underrated ... I got the black version the U212 SE and I with the brown leather strap it is just stunning... I just love it. best regards and keep it up! J.

I love the simplicity of that Panerai, not boring, but well executed design that works. Elegant, proves that less is more, like a well-tailored suit.
