Hey! If you're new here, welcome! We're a group of indie game developers that have been making videos about our games for a pretty long time now. We're currently mainly working in Unity but have been known to use other engines as well like Construct 2. We've done a bunch of things like game jams, music, and all things related to game dev.
Looks awesome so far! :) Love the Gameboy palette! 💚
I love your simple style. Stay motivated to finishing the game!
Thank you!
Oh yeah, it’s all coming together
jumping attack: proceeds to teleport to the sky
What can I say, he's got hops.
Cool game Im making a 2d shape and beats game but it's a platformer and realizing now I should learn how to make sprites cuz of this video
Nice game. I was wondering if you used a completely new scene for the world map. Just want to know what the best way to do that logic is. Thanks :).
Good question. We do have a separate scene for the world map and we just pass the variables like which levels have been completed between scenes.
Do you use a static class for this? I was thinking that may be a good way to transfer lots of data, but there may be some other ways I am not aware of.
We actually did a video on this topic, it's not super in depth but it should give you an idea on how we do it, we're planning on doing a bigger tutorial on this on our second channel soon. th-cam.com/users/shortsY4kY7HUYr7M
oh ok thanks.
The addiction to sand it’s overwhelming
Couldn’t have said it better myself.
Here's some ideas that... Yep it's 2am but do I care? Nopee! I like this game and have ideas for it's future lol. I do warn you, this comment is long, I am sorry, read at your own risk!
For later boss battles, hide the health. Or, to break the fourth wall, have the boss destroy it's own health so you can't see it. Kinda like in Undertale how the Mercy button is destroyed y'know?
Random easter egg that is only obtainable via... Uh... No idea... Is that once activated it inverts all the games colours. Because honestly, why not... (Found a good use for this in a later idea. I spent half an hour writing this comment. I formally apologize.)
A bad effect you could add is having the screen flip upsidedown. I think a lot of people can agree that having your screen (if you wanna be evil, your controls) inverted backwards upsidedown all wonky is the WORST effect under high pressure.
A possible new enemy? Fake items. Just... Items that randomly spawn in weird places that ARENT items at all, rather, mimic items that hurt you if you interact with them...
Possible new level or world start? Floor breaking below you, but it's a surprise... Like. You're in the middle or start of the level/new world, you're enjoying your green life, a cut scene just oh so rudely interrupts you, then the floor just says peace out and you dramatically fall to your death- nope nevermind a well placed mushroom saves your butt and you get to act like nothing happened while you explore this new cave level/world! Yay!
There's throw BRO, but why not throw SIS... or.. girl.. or... Uh... Y'know. You get the point. Either it's an evil counterpart, or a mirror world where shes on one side, you're on the other, and she copies your exact moves and you have to trick her into ceasing to exist to continue through the level.. or maybe it's the total opposite? Maybe she's your new friend and has to help you on your quest? So many ways to go with Throw Gal... Okay yeah Throw Gal sounds better... I'm sorry about this btw.
It's spooky, it's scary, look out! Is it a bird? A plane? Noooope it's just the teleporter. You can... Guess what it does.. it makes sandwiches! Jk it teleports you and you get to play a game of catch the teleporter.
You haven't touched Throw Bro in awhile, you're leaving him idle in the level or map? Well, he's gonna take this time to do his own thing. Maybe he pulls out a book and reads, or takes a jump rope and starts skipping. Heck, he can put on a chef's hat and start scrambling some eggs with his GoAnywhereKitchen. Unnntilll he gets tired of waiting and sleeps.. how lovely.. the level enemies are surrounding him.. and they take him down below the screen/map... Where... Your colours can invert! It lasts like 1-2 mins or something! Hahah, idea from before gets used!
Okay, I'll stop. Lol I love the idea of this game and I wish I knew how to code now. I'm sorry! XD
Wow, thanks for the creative and detailed suggestions! Love the innovative boss battle. It's funny, we had actually already been planning something with a Throw Gal character. Keep on practicing and you'll be coding in no time.
I think ik why boss bro is so angry...
His head is on upside down!!!!
That would make me angry too...
Golem kinda reminds me of Hormozi of how he eis built😂
He is actually inspired by me in real life! 🙀
neat game!! the colors look a lot like “slimekeep” from benbonk tho..
Thanks! Yeah, we are both using the Gameboy color palette for our games.
@@plasmastudios oh, i get it! nice :)
❤
Why does the thumbnail image say "boss bottle?"
It's a promo for our new merch line. The Boss Bottle coming soon to stores near you!
(That's actually just what the "a" looks like in that font.)
@plasmastudios Random segue, but you can make your own font with Fontforge if you want something super custom >u>
It has a high learning curve, but there are a bunch of tutorials, and it's compatible with vector graphics programs like Clip Studio Paint and G.I.M.P.
I've been trying to make a font of my handwriting, but I procrastinate too much :/
The golem looks amazing
Nice vid but please turn up the volume cause its a bit hard to hear you talking
Thank you for the feedback. We will see what we can do for future videos.
