I'm with you on this. I must be the only person in my street that still uses a rake and a broom to keep the yard tidy. My neighbour had synthetic grass laid for 'low maintenance' and now vacuums it and moans about the living weeds that grow up through it.
You are right. A lot of these companies have a crew of 3-4 guys running backpack blowers all day long, just moving leaves around, and have no idea what they are doing. Wasting fuel and making noise. And if it's windy, it takes them twice as long. We prefer to bag/catch/vacuum as much as possible, which is helpful in reducing the volume of waste and not make as much pollution while respecting the neighbors. We still have to use machines, just not as long.
