In this video, I share with you how I cook Fonio in the microwave. This is the traditional way of cooking Fonio in Guinea, except I'm using a microwave. I am using Fonio straight from Guinea. A Fonio that had been pre-washed and dried. Note that this process doesn't apply to precooked Fonio. The amount of water would not be the same. Lastly, a Fonio that hasn't been pre-washed would need to be washed thoroughly to separate all the dirt that may be in it. If you have questions, leave them in the comments. I'll be happy to answer them.

If y'all prefer to use a precooked Fonio, which is easier to cook, I suggest this one 👉🏾 amzn.to/42JCIlP
The Fonio used in this video was traditionally cleaned and dried in Guinea. We steam it a few times to get the best result. This is the traditional way of cooking Fonio in Guinea, except I'm using a microwave.
Note that this cooking method doesn't apply to precooked Fonio. The amount of water would not be the same.
Lastly, a Fonio that hasn't been pre-cleaned would need to be washed thoroughly to separate all the dirt that may be in it.
I hope you find this information helpful! Thank you for watching!
❤❤❤
Thank You
Are the black grain in fonio dirt or it’s part of it ?
Generally, there are some black grains that are part of it.
However, it all depends on the kind you buy.
-If you buy the pre-washed one, then it’s part of it.
-If you get the one that just got harvested, then there is a process we use to remove the dirt. Not sure how it’s called in English though. But you rinse the Fonio a few times, then let it sit in water for a little, then transfer the top into a different container slowly. You repeat the process by adding more water and transferring until almost all the Fonio is transferred. In the end, the sand and dirt will remain at the bottom. We often repeat the process a few times or until there is no longer sand & dirt at the bottom.
Not sure if what I said made sense. Let me know
