If you are a career criminal with a history of violence and you try to kill a police officer with a car, you are absolutely responsible for anything that happens. The family should be aggrieved for what happened but they must know that this was completely his own fault.

Because the car was blocked in front back and sides and unless the driver was going to play bumper cars and attempt to jump the cars in front it wasn't going anywhere.

Nobody on the side of the deceased mentions that he had plenty of time to stop and submit to the police demands. He wasn't armed he showed his hands on the driving wheel that was seen on the live cam. The police smashed the car windows and if he had a gun then why didn't he attempt to shoot them? This action was putting police officers lives at risk as there were several officers surrounding the car. The jury heard all the evidence and in effect decided the officers action was reasonable under the circumstances. It’s sad some guys life has ended but he surely had plenty of opportunity to end the confrontation by submitting to police custody.

However, we have armed police to respond to the threat of armed criminality. The individual officers have to make split second decisions in the Field. They have to consider the record of the person they are being asked to apprehend, the threatening actions of that person and the likelihood that that person could be armed. On this occasion, the young man did not have a firearm but, the officers on the ground had reason to believe he likely was. We know tragedies happen but, the officers have to be able to respond to the threat posed by, potentially violent criminals.

Lack of diversity or equality on the panel discussing this subject, let alone the absence of a representive from the ethnic community identical to that of the Kaba family. Is enough evidence of Racism, this was a hate crime.
