- The King's Indian was a favorite fighting defense of Fischer and Kasparov in years past, and nowadays enterprising players like Nakamura, Radjabov, and Ding Liren have taken up Black's cause. Here White chooses a line with 5.Bd3 and 6.Nge2, and I try to react as best I can in unfamiliar territory!
Nice game John, nice play to keep his bishop ineffective and the endgame was just crushing, awesome to watch!

6...e5 was decent. Bologan really likes 6...Nc6, as the whole Bd3 line leaves d4 weak. Black may follow with ...e5 when ...Nd4 is not uncommon. Black may even emphasize this with an early ...Nh5 (even before ...e5) to have the dark squared bishop hit d4 too.

i know what the engine says, but if u check the theory and lines very deep, black is equalizing in the absolute main line (if only here) in all the white tries objectively speaking for sure except in 9 Ne1, 9 b4, (and 7 d5 maybe) this is debatable. practically speaking remembering the details to any number of sidelines is not easy for players on either side. robin's (van kampen) series for c24 is quite good on derailing the non-critical lines for white.
elvenbread191 I believe it. I think there's a reason why the King's Indian doesn't score incredibly well, though. It's a difficult opening to play; Black needs to possess a great memory and be a skilled counter-attacker.

btw, with the dark squared bishop off, u really do not want to allow white to go f4.
i think white really is better tho a bit with the dark squared bishops off and white uncastled. when white is castled kingside and with f3 f4 inserted unless white is making rg1 and g3 going quickly black is fine.

Why were you planning on Rg2 after Be2? Rg1 seems to win a lot faster I think
JayLue Yes, it does. ...Rg2 just seemed like the natural move to me :) Defends h2 and attacks along the second rank.
