- Of the 1.14 Lakh cases of snake bites last year in India, there were 19,012 cases in rural Maharashtra and 7,619 cases in Karnataka. Prasadam, an NGO who works for farmers welfare, wanted to find a way to protect the farmers without endangering the lives of snakes. Agriculture being the primary occupation in these areas, combined with a high population of snakes makes farmers more susceptible to snake bites leaving them wounded and in extreme cases even causes death. Due to these incidents, farmers started killing snakes in large numbers. We had to find a way to avoid these incidents and create a barrier between the two. We came up with an easy to use & affordable solution - an ultrasonic solar powered snake repellent which looked and worked exactly like the walking stick used by the farmers. All the farmers had to do was place it in the ground and it would send out a burst of sonic waves every 40 seconds, keeping the snakes away. The device worked for up to 50 meters from the farmers, ensuring their safety. We placed dozens of these walking sticks in each village, with the Sarpanch. All a farmer had to do was pick up a stick when he left for his farm, place it close to where he worked, and return it at the end of the day! As per a survey conducted two months after distributing the snake guards, the number of snake bite incidents substantially reduced. The demand for the Snake Guard has increased in rural areas across Maharashtra and Karnataka. We are currently in the process of taking this initiative to other parts of the country and working closely with the government to educate farmers about the use of The Snake Guard.

How I wish that Indians many of them so talented that they may contribute to global transformation to sustainable living. Just like this one, but being in the states and I have a farm in the Philippines, im sure its not available for us to be bought in the US or in the Philippines, I wish they would be like the Chinese but in a more responsible way and made their goods available for all. 1 thing that I would like to ask them to do is produce an affordable electric rickshaw, cars and tractor to be available for the World to buy.
One more suggestion,in rural areas if somebody droned in pond, river, or any water source it is difficult to search n found the dead body..... Sometimes it takes 2/3 days... Is it possible to use ultrasound device is used in this case by using sound navigation
