I talked to Andreas Rönnberg (the game's creator) proposing to make an Afraid Of Monsters remake and he simply told me "no, sorry. I don't let anyone use my intellectual property." So I'd run it by him first. Unless said remake is not being distributed to the public.
@@noahbrewer2476 i sort of agree with this though, i much prefer the retro graphics as it makes it a lot cooler (in my opinion) and more scary, but it would be cool if there was a updated version that wouldn't interfere with the original
looks really sick but has a too big feeling of abandonment if that makes sense id also really wanna see how this would have looked like if you modeled it after how nordic apartments look like on the inside of the hallways
That hallway section looks great, nice attention to detail! One note though: Around 8:40, when mentioning the photos of the bright lights - the blue light you are seeing is not blue because it is bright, it is because it is daylight. Daylight comes in at around 5500k on the Kelvin scale, which is blue light. Interior lighting tends to be more orange (not always) around the 2900-4000k range. Keep up the great work, hope this tip helps in your endeavors!
4:00 I did this exact process inside Hammer editor to make doors in the source engine and im pretty sure its how rumpel made the doors in the actual game
I just beat Cry Of Fear for the first time, it was amazing even tho I spoiled myself by watching lets plays of it when I was younger. I would probably do another playthrough on the highest difficulty if it wasn't so buggy, thats why I'm hoping for a remake.
Imagine dissing a goddarn Half-Life 1 (1998) mod. For a nearly 30 years old engine, CoF is absolutely stellar. Also many of these changes are just sooo off the mark when it comes to Scandinavian arcitecture and materials. That extra clutter just for the sake of clutter is also a cancer that is ruining modern games' visual design and READIBILITY of the map designs. The apartments are meant to be STILL LIVED, not a condemned building.
a half-life 1 mod that released in 2012, that used a modified version of goldsrc to implement (at the time) modern visual techniques like bump mapping this isn't for a game, its just a fun little 3D render
Also like how it doesn't look *_too_* rundown in the original Cry Of Fear. It's like an uncanny feeling of everything being normal (other than the monsters roaming around of course) Like, it's not supposed to look completely abandoned, it's supposed to be a normal apartment that has very recently been affected by something
Im ngl I thought cry of fear was in the source engine because of how good it looked, since it looks way more like half life 2 than it does the original half life
I’ve been making a slight fan port of CoF to GzDoom and have been given permission by Andreas since it’s a little experiment and not a full “remake” or “demake”. Besides, this is only recreating a level within a modeling program. These aren’t for a playable game its just recreating areas.
Andreas Rönnberg doesn't allow fan games or remakes of either Cry Of Fear or Afraid Of Monsters. I'm solo dev with the capability of easily doing a remake. I asked him for permission to remake AOM and he briefly told me no.
@@obelisk2887 many thanks! I'm making 4 other projects as of now, actually. One is more half life inspired with some very subtle paralells to Rönnbergs work.
Tbh CoF's graphics have their own charm to them, they also add a bit to the horror factor in my opinion
It looks like STALKER but swedish
No it doesnt?
I kinda agree, but better textures and lighting would make it look a lot better
game graphics uncanny valley
@@matt_sa Wow how the hell did I never make the comparison, they are pretty similar in looks
At this point there's gonna be a fanmade remake

Looks really good, I love it! Maybe you can change the light for a slightly darker ambiance

8:17 Bruh, that message got me caught me off guard, haha. Other than that, really nice job !
Amazing job !!!! Will you remake the whole apartment ?
Probably not, there wouldn't really be a point. I can maybe make a few more renders of the same location
Looks pretty good man

Very interesting!
calling Stockholm "city of fear" is very interesting indeed
Liked it!
İt actually looks cool !
AMAZING U KOVE CRY IF FEAR
im really sad that cof source was cancelled,
maybe if valve didnt hate horror games, we would have cof source AND they hunger 2
ur awesome
interesting... I really wanted to know what CoF would look like in something like Blender
very nice
cool video
You should recreate more scene like this from source games and mods
noice
i was here on 2024 before this become famous
Impressive
cool
What are those baby door handles? You open them with your pinky or something?
cool!
Andreas doesn't give permission for a cry of fear remake thats why the remakes are canceled
The two remakes were cancelled because there was a lack of funding, and also because he was burnt out with Cry of Fear. (source: his instagram)
@@TrueKyanite I seen a tiktok comment someone asked to andreas for a fanmade remake he said "No, not allowed sorry"

what 3d software did you use? i would like to try something like this, also how can you make it playable if you can?
It's Blender, and unfortunately it's not playable :(

Hello everyone i finally did a face reveal
You can just see the decals floating off the wall
Could you upload the link to the blender file?
Now do the whole game 🎉

Where did U get the Decals?

Next Felvidek remake
you have to base it off of the source material
Yooo. , you ever plan on making some sort of fan game ?

cry of duty
You sound like Simon
Sadly CoF fandom is kinda bad :(
How so?
Why?
Why?
you could recreate cry of fear or even a better game than it if you knew a simple knowledge of ue5
Honestly probably could, I did actually try, but it was very weird, and I didn't really take it seriously.
