The "Enchanted" squeal was filmed in Ireland and it was a big deal,we don't normally get movie stars around here and the crew built a beautiful film set in two villages in Wicklow and they let people tour the sets before they started filming whch was awesome to see.
Wicked is probably the one I’m most excited for, I just hope they learnt from Cats mistakes

The fact that 27 is considered “too old” is pretty crazy to think about. Heck, I could have sworn he was older.
Also it’s funny because in the theatre world, people rarely play their age.

The way I see it if Rosario Dawson can play the 19 Mimi (who looks 16 according to Roger) in her mid 20's while the rest of the cast is supposed to be close to her in age and in their actual 30's at the time I'm okay with it.
People need to go back to having suspension of disbelief sometimes if the performance is good enough or we're going to end up with them de-aging 25 year olds digitally in Broadway adaptations before too long.
@@ianjohn2648 Many had problems with the casting of the *Rent* film. Apart from purists, everyone else, including critics, thought that everyone was a decade too old for their characters (who came off as whiny, immature thirtysomethings instead of the fresh-faced, recent college grads they're supposed to be) and felt that the casting of most of the original Broadway cast came off as a gimmick.

As someone who can’t afford to see every stage musical I want to see, I LOVE movie musicals. But I don’t think all stage musicals, no matter how successful, work onscreen. I think for some reason Hollywood thinks musicals are more lucrative than they are. There are a lot of choices here that I feel don’t need to happen.
As much as I love musicals and the idea of these are exciting, I do agree. Some of these are musicals and don't have the pomp and circumstance to be Hollywood blockbusters. They can be incredible Broadway musicals without hitting a movie theatre and flopping.

Listening to excerpts of modern musicals one hopes composers will realize there is a difference in screaming and singing. Seeing the lovely screen version of "King and I" one hopes sanity will prevail and less bombastic more soulful musicals will return....
I love King and I. Although I wish that the would have gotten a Thai actor to play the King instead of Yul Brynner who was Mongolian. But the fact they cast an Asian actor to play an Asian in the fifties surprised me.
@@ashleydowney1222 Brynner is so iconic in "King and I" it would be interesting who they'll get to play him in the re-make. Deborah Kerr was a delight but her singing was dubbed so that will also be an interesting casting decision. One 'dream' re-make not mentioned, probably because it's been in limbo for so long, is Hugh Jackman's wish to make "Carousel". a dream project of his. For me R&H masterpiece... if only.
I’m a huge fan of Jennifer Hudson! I saw Respect on DVD. My mom is a bit of a celebrity, that’s how I watched it and I loved it. She’s born to play The Queen of Soul

I just watched Vivo. I loved it. Also, it was originally pitched to DreamWorks, but they cancelled it, along with other projects, because of I think company reconstruction. Fortunately, it was picked up by Sony Animation, which I think is beginning to take over DreamWorks' place as Disney and Pixar's biggest rival.

I couldn’t believe Stephen Spielberg directed this remake. After watching it, I’m like wow. It’s amazing, it’s one of his best works

@@arrow_of_ravenclaw5155 Even more so *Hairspray.* It started out as a 1988 film (now a cult classic). It was adapted to Broadway in 2002. That stage musical was made into a movie in 2007. The musical was later done as a live TV presentation in 2016.
That *Heathers* TV series was canceled because it got horrible reviews and nobody watched.
Saw Cinderella last year on Amazon Prime. It’s not like the Disney film but I liked it. It was uplifting and a breath of fresh air

What movie am I looking forward to the most? Oh my, so many choices. I don't know where to start. But if I had to pick just one, it would probably be Fiddler on the Roof. My mother and I loved watching the movie together when she was alive. Our favorite scene was the part where Tevye’s third daughter eloped with a non-Jewish man. It reminds me of how my mother met my father who was working in a movie theater and they fell in love and eloped at the courthouse on January 28th, 1987.
That part is my favorite too. I relate to it as when I left my parents religion, my dad nearly disowned me.
I can’t wait for Wicked! It’s my favorite musical. Honestly, I don’t know who is gonna play who, all I know is I’m looking forward to it
