Just did my nephew's 2006 is250 same problem on right side no need to remove the caliper. Hammer caliper back a little and spray wd40 and let it work itself in. Sand off rust and apply lubricant. No need to open brake lines.

I think that I would just replace the caliper with a decent looking used one complete with replacement caliper carrier. It probably functions OK but looks terrible still and they look so nice when they are in nice condition. You have done a functional decent repair though and its very well filmed. Thanks for taking the time to do it

That's what I did. After about 10 years, the caliper was so rusted that it was easier to replace the caliper and mounting bracket when changing rotors and pads.

Had same issue with my 2011 Lexus is250 awd. Poor design. Bottom should be same as top. Like on hondas floating caliper design. Much better.

I repaired both rear calipers by myself.
    Many thanks to you 😅😅

Before removing the stuck caliper, watch what happens when you have someone else apply the brake pedal hard or constant pushing. The inner pad does 98% of the work and the caliper flex 30% away from its center. I don't know about the Federal, but Toyota car owners will be in trouble when the stationary pin snaps off at its threads. Companies should be stopped producing this caliper by a recall and go back to 2 removable pins fasteners. Camry is the best test subject, it is less beefy than Lexus.

I do know that the 2nd gen lexus is350 and is250 have different front brakes since the is350 have a bigger brake at the front but does the fronts also have caliper pins too or just the rears?

Use a pair of vise grip pliers with rubber hose around the tips and clamp down on it or use the actual hose clamp pliers

Even a Lexus needs a torch.. the fire-spanner. The action at 3:42 however, repeated 1 million times, looses any bolt.
If Lexus-designers had pressed in stainless-steel bush, and used appropriate thick grease, and seal to keep that grease in place, the problem would not occur. Does that really make the car far to expensive?
Are there any "good" cars left? I do not think so.
Conclusion: Lexus is simply " a car ", like others. It does not distinguish it self technically from others.
(Alto-front-calipers have exactly the same problem.)

Mine slid up and down but wouldn’t come out. Like you could jiggle it back and forth but it wouldn’t slide out. Might have to do this i see. A lot of work for something so simple. Shit system.

The guide pin for the caliper in my car broke inside the caliper. So what’s the name of the part to buy with caliper that has the pin on it. The part you took off and then worked to separate from caliper. I hope I explained it correctly. Thanks in advance.

Sds chisel or air hammer makes this a complete non problem. Rebuild the pistons and getting them back in also sds drill makes it child's play. This car NEEDS caliper bebuild kits (ebay) slider dust boots, piston seals, grease, slider pin rubber o ring, DOT4 flush, They are very cheap to do.
