I love the post-show interview where Jake says he was hoping to end up on a Peridiam challenge hack video with his speed-walking through the final immunity challenge that ultimately got him ejected 😭
from what I remember, according to what Jake has said in exit press, he assumed the ropes holding the challenge up were bungee cord, so that they wouldn't snap. as it turns out, he assumed wrong.
I have rewatched every season, some (pearl islands, panama, tocantins, and cagayan) close to 10 times if not more. I have only watched Thailand once and probably will never rewatch. I have however, watched the attack zone on youtube possibly more than any other Survivor video ever. The attack zone is my 2nd funniest Survivor moment ever only losing to Bob Dawg and Bruce in the outhouse. I could watch this one challenge 1,000 times and still laugh every single time. It is the only bright spot on what is likely the worst season ever
@@Captain-Sum.Ting-Wong the fake merge was interesting but also resulted in Shii Ann being totally fucked ruining any chance of Brian not steamrolling the rest of the game.
So, when Jeff told Ben that he was the first player in Survivor history to be ejected from a challenge, I'm pretty sure he's referring to the fact that the Sook Jais were disqualified for explicitly breaking a rule that was not really up for interpretation (and part of that rule was that you would be kicked out of the challenge for breaking it), while Ben was ejected at the sole discretion of Jeff. That's always been my thought on the matter.
Agreed, I love a good callback to the attack zone but I’m not sure that it’s quite the same category. As Luke said, surprising how few ejections there have been
Chris from Season 9 is a pretty good example of that. Cirie in Exile Island, Parvati in Micronesia, Cochran in SP?, Andrea in Caramoan, Carolyn in WA, Abi in Second Chance, Donathan in GI, Nick in DvG, Emily in 45.
Jake being disqualified was so relatable. Making a mistake, throwing a tiny tantrum by obtusely stomping your way through a challenge despite being warned... I can't blame him! I'm surprised this hasn't happened more often, I'm sure I'd have at least a few challenge tantrums if I played Survivor. Sometimes I throw a hissy fit just watching at home when the person I like doesn't do well 😭 we love to see childish emotional outburst representation
The lead up to that final immunity challenge that Jake got ejected from was great too; losing a puzzle piece in the final five immunity challenge, not getting Dee out in the final five tribal council, and then knocking all the bowls over. Quite a rough stretch just in that finale 😆
7:18 In Sumo at Sea, they run it in best of 3s, but only 1 round is shown due to airtime constraints. So it's likely they had one clean round where Natalie won, but Val got disqualified sometime after.
I hear how much of a fan favorite Jake was, but I feel like he was just annoying, like a more likeable, less sobby bhanu. Annoying and I wanted him to leave.
@@savageguineapig5857 I feel like it's easy to feel pity for the guy. Like he tried his best constantly but similar to Owen things just never worked out. I feel like it'd suck to realize the only reason you are still around is cause you have no shot or impact.
@@savageguineapig5857I feel like comparing him to bhanu is a stretch lol. Jake actually had strategy and knew what he was doing, he was just quite possibly the unluckiest person to ever play.
Of all of these, the only one I truly feel bad for was Jake. After spending all that time on the island trying to work with Bruce and Katurah, and then getting completely dogwalked by Dee's alliance, I'd be pissed too.
That Attack Zone challenge is one of the most hilarious moments of the entire show. Also, Jeff talking down to Jake like an upset parent with no sympathy was hilarious. Jeff's sass is so perfect. 😅😂
Jake wasn't ejected as much as he was disqualified just like Frank in Africa. He broke the challenge and therefore couldn't run it. Natural consequence. I really don't recall Dee being the person who was the source of Jake's problems. I'd give more credit to Katurah and Drew for that.
@jennabos2292 I'd say an ejection is you're being removed from the game for violating rules. Disqualification is you've been removed for being unable to complete the challenge (such as equipment breaking or physically unable to continue).
I feel like Jeff was correct to say Ben was first to be pulled out of a challenge. The attack zone challenge had a built in mechanism of "if you do X you will be kicked out of the challenge". The Samoa challenge didnt have specific a rule like that, Ben got pulled for reasons entirely different from the attack zone challenge

Love the video, I think there was an ejection in the gabler win season though. I think Owen broke a challenge when he got upset he was losing, similar to Jake, and got disqualified
I’m all for keeping players safe but some of these are just the shows fault. The attack zone was just a bad design and the pit challenge just has unclear rules. Jeff might have said to calm down but you have guys running head first into each other and then someone gets ejected for tripping. They are just asking players to guess what’s allowed and what isn’t.
a technical 'ejection' from a challenge happened at the final 4 challenge of season 43 with Owen breaking his prong in frustration after his stack of bowls fell over. However, because Cassidy won the challenge not longer after, they glossed over it. Had Cassidy's bowls fallen over, there's a good chance that Owen is ejected from the challenge due to breaking his prong and making it impossible to stack his bowls
I think an interesting video would be one talking about when people voted wrong and it benefitted them (JT voting for Erinn when Coach was voted out in Tocantins for example)
You were actually right. But you most likely meant more than half the Sook Jai members that were competing. Jake and Erin were sitting out. With Ken, Robb, Jed and Stephanie being disqualified, Penny and Shii Ann were the only ones running the challenge.

I loved Jake but I didn't really see a possible way for him to continue in the challenge when his contraption broke, for me it had less to do with his tantrum (i for sure would be throwing one)
