@fp470 did any of these sort of tactics ever worked? because they all got killed. Wouldn't it be better if they had laid down and crawled forward in to firing position or something. BTW i don't know anything about militairy tactics but they were walking extremely slow and chill while being under fire.
@DanVielwerth Exactly. They hadn't adapted their tactics to the change of weapons in war. They were still thinking old style of fighting, which is absolutely useless when facing machineguns and artillery.
I don't think you would have defeated the French even without the Americans (They only contributed 2 divisions at the time [if i remember correctly]) but I do agree that a draw may have been possible without the advent of the American entry into the war. The storm troopers lost cohesion when they started to loot allied supply depots this sealed the fat of the St Michael offensive.
How long can you run carrying all that gear without getting exhausted, Which is only increased due the fear of being shot at? Stopping would only ruin the initiative of there advance and allow the guns to zero in and blast them to heaven. All they could do was move forward.
No Germany was blockaded into starvation - OK Russia had been defeated due to the revolution but Germany was in no position to win the war because its Navy was inadequate to the task at best Germany could have hoped to retain its integrity as an EMpire and to occupy the lands ceded to them under the Brest Livtosk treaty. The St Michael Offensive had and would peter out as the German troops lost cohesion and the allies reorganised.
It was praised for it's historical accuracy. Read up on history and you will see how realistic it was. And if you want to see a movie with "blitzkrieg" being used in WW1. You'll have to wait until Australians make a movie about it. As it was Australia that invented the technique in WW1, to devastating effect against the Germans. According to one WW1 German Field Marshall. The two times Australia used the tactic ended Germany's ability to make war. He said. "We have gone from a position of bargaining to one of total surrender"
just another britisch/american/canadian Heroe movie :) To be honest I would be really ashamed to see such a crap from german side, isn´t it embarrassing ? I believe instead praising oneself all the time it is better to ask the former enemy for his opinion. "To put an end to force and warfare and to curb their battles, all the great nations of the world had to fight against them, nearly twenty million left their lives or shed their blood before pulling the sword from this terrible hand. Surely you Germans, that's enough for the rest of the history!" Churchill 1927
ok, that´s really funny now, the Countries with the smallest contributions that have to be present themselves this way :) It is unbelievable, but there is really a book "How Canada Won the Great War" written by Robert Child ( I guess a Canadian, what else :) and he really means that ! But this is true for all the countries involved, every one, though still so small, wants to have defeat Germany alone ;)
The only bad parts of this film is how long it took for the officer to adjust the fire mission and that the Germans were walking through the kill zone. Other than that, this wasn't that bad.
totas2000 Perhaps a bit late to answer... But neither the Australians nor the Canadians effort to the first world war, can be called "small", in fact that would be rather insulting, given that they in effect turned out to be shock troops, and some of the most active units in the "British" army. And of the shows/films I have seen, none are portraying themselves as being the sole reason Germany was defeated... They do however often look to particular campaigns where they did contribute in a big way...
@@totas2000 Funny how you try to imply that you have read books on the history of WW1 then call Australia's contribution "small" When many of the larger important were won because of what they did. Look at the battle of Hammel. Where Australians first used the tactic that would be later be coined "blitzkrieg" in WW2. And its later use at Amiens. Where German General Ludendorff later said: "Our fighting machine was no longer of real value. Our capacity for year had suffered harm even if the far greater majority of our divisions fought bravely. August 8 marked the decline of our military power and took from me the hope that...we could restore the situation in our favor... The war had to be ended." Between 8th August to 11th November 1918 alone. The Australian Army Corps destroyed no less than 39 German divisions. Though only making up only 9.2% of allied forces. The Australians took 18.5 per cent of the German prisoners, 21.5 per cent of the territory and 14 per cent of the guns. The Australians broke the back of your mighty german army.
shitty movie that they would portray the Wehrmacht advancing across an open field. unbelievable. pandering to an audience that doesn't know anybetter. poor film making
Even more a poor grasp of history on your part, weenie. The Wehrmacht didn't exist in WW1. It is the term used for the entire German armed forces post-war, up to and including WW2 and after. The army was and is the Heer; the Navy was and is the Kriegsmarine; and the air force was and is the Luftwaffe.
The war is full of battles where advancing across open fields and taking huge amounts of causalities was common practice on both sides. Go snuggle your hitler doll.
Were you there in WW1? Nope, so shut up. It's a low-budget 1980s TV Series and based on WW1 Soldiers' diaries etc. At least they used real guns and bombs, unlike today's movies all cgi
Its a TV show from Australia in the 80s ...... anyone who uses it as an analyse of WW1 needs to get their brain around that...... :)
But this is youtube what do you expect?
Mate ur a dick head full blown
A tv show praised for it's historical accuracy.
Just a reminder for the experts 😉. This was for entertainment not historical accuracy.

This is absolutely not a landscape of Hazebrouck !
The region of Hazebrouck is flat !
yeah but they dug trenches.
In front of the forest of Nieppe where the battle took place, the landscape is slightly hilly.
@KongoOttov2
Meiner war beim 151 Inf Reg. Also praktisch in der Nähe des Schlachtfeldes. Er starb 1978 und hat mir davon erzählt.
34 comments mostly in German. Look pretty OK to me? Heroic Australians driving back Germans. Then going on to win the war. So what is the issue?
This goes to show , the Australians are not to be fucked with
But they can F…k up the history of WW1.
The only scene in WW I movie in which Germans take some casualties
only 5 of 5?

@DanVielwerth Still a shitty movie, regardless. and no, I'm not "Jesus" LMAO
why did the germans walked in super slomo towards the enemy lines even when theyre gettin shot? xD thats...dumb :D
Reasonably good tactics,,,,
they retired rather than get slaughtered
bad editing and placed the wrong part in the slot of the movie. gees
How long can you run carrying all that gear without getting exhausted, Which is only increased due the fear of being shot at? Stopping would only ruin the initiative of there advance and allow the guns to zero in and blast them to heaven. All they could do was move forward.
they all died due to a rocket being fired
all dead mate
deader than dead

Unreal und Verlogen deshalb. Zudem glauben viele solche Filme

well Sad........
sehr erbärmlich die wehrmacht würde nie auf einem offenen feld laufen einfach lächerlich ^^
Der Krieg war (tragischerweise für beide Seiten) voller Kämpfe, in denen beide Seiten über offene Felder stürmen würden
Pretty bad movie but its better than Finding Nemo...... o3o
It's one of the best war movies ever made
it was a low-budget 1980s TV mini Series. Gees get over yourself.
Strewth
@fp470
:( lol
nice fake team, suer every army will move this slow Oo i´d just wanna see one "Blitzkrieg" Movie were Germans win, not this stuff of unrealistic shit.
