Can you move only 1 Matchstick to fix the equation? This brain teaser is for those who enjoy solving analytical puzzles and games. Brain teasers are mainly a trickier version of riddles and puzzles, as these brain games are solved with lateral thinking. While solving these, you need to analyze a little differently and out of the box. For coming on to the solution, you need to use a creative mind as the answer won’t be right in front of you. So, we have come up with an interesting brain-teaser where you have to move only 1 Matchstick to correct the equation in the image.

Thank you very much

Some of these have several answers.
#6 is one of them
@@The787200 And #13 (7-4=3)
#13 7-4=5 also 7-4 =3 by moving top vertical match of the 5 to oppsite side forming a 3 is another solution.
alternate #9 : 0 + 5 = 5 (take one stick from the 9 to make it a 5 and change the minus to plus)
alternate #11: 9 - 2 = 7 (take one stick from the plus sign and add it to the 1 to form a 7)
alternate #15: 3+5 =8 (move one stick from the 9 to form a 3 and add it in the middle of the 0 to make an 8)
*** For #16, that's more of a grammar issue, "6=6=6" is not AN equation but 2, while the premise was given to look for one equation. If you used the singular "equation", you should not have 2 equal signs, therefore "6=6=6" cannot be the correct answer, according to the rule stated.
for 16: 6 - 6 = -0
#24 -> 3+5=8
@bytemark6508: "* For #16, that's more of a grammar issue, "6=6=6" is not AN equation but 2, while the premise was given to look for one equation. Just a clickbait...
Take the center stick from the eight and put it in front of the first six as a minus sign
6+6=8 becomes -6+6=0
@@MichaelClark-uw7ex Great! You're sure
Anyone else get mad at the 6=6=6 equation?
quite a few of these have more than one solution
Alternate solution for Number 11 -- Move the vertical match from the plus sign to the number 1, thus going from 9 + 2 = 1 to 9 - 2 = 7
Probably rare to have two+ solutions? I think a computer program can be written for the Match Stick Puzzle (move one stick) since it is a finite tree.
@@Philski9 I can see that being possible.
Number 15 also have an alternate solution. See if you can find it.
@@eastafrica1020There is ... moving the vertical stick from the 9 to convert it to a 5 to go from "9 + 5 = 0" to "5 + 5 = 10" ... the number 10 will look aesthetically weird, but it works arithmetically.
@@eastafrica1020 The one I found before the reveal: -5+5=0
#11 could be also be 9 - 2 = 7
#22 could be also be -7 + 8 = 1
#7 alternate: move the vertical match from the + sign to the upper right of the 5 to make 9 - 7 = 2
nice, I saw that first - a more elegant solution too
That is EXACTLY what I concluded for the solution to number 7; when I saw it.
that was the only one I could do!
The video should’ve shown both possible solutions.
7:22. can't you also move the stick from the plus sign, and make it 9 - 2 = 7?
yep thats what l did, still works, two solutions
and an alternative for the second last one is 3 PLUS 5 equals 8
Answer:
- 6 + 6 = 0
Shift the middle stick of the 8 to left of first 6 on left hand side..
Also 6 + 6 != 8 Keyboard does not have symbol for difference but is just put stick in the middle , vertical to the equal symbol
@@TajurasI think that they don't allow that symbol in those games.
This was my answer too
15 could also be 3 +5=8 btw nice video
It REALLY makes you think!!!!! Good on the brain!!!!
Wonderful , congratulation
#20 : was the solution supposed to be
6 + A = 0 ?
Seems a little cheaty using variables (esp considering in a 7 segment display, the segments making up the 1 in 17 are not in the same element as the 7, so forming an A would mean moving 3 sticks). Just saying...
Additional, if you're going the variable route, it would have been better to swap the bottom of the 8 to the 6 making it an 8 and have the solution be
8 + 17 = A
To be honest this makes any problem with a 0, 6, 8 or 9 easily convertable to an A and bypassing actual solutions.
I think the A was supposed to be a 1-7 just far too close together. 6+1-7=0.
@@bradleyreed8876 ah, i think you're right. Yeah they should have animated the spread. I wouldn't consider that moving extra sticks.
I was so confused by 20
A big help is whether or not there is a place for a match after the equal sign. This can be seen in the picture. If there is space, then something will come, if there is not, then nothing will come.
In one of the solutions the number after the equal sign was moved out to make room for a negative.
#13 also has two solutions - the one not shown is 7 - 4 = 3 (move the top left stick in the 5 to the top right)
In some cases there are alternative solutions. For example, in the 6-6=1, someone can remove - and not move elsewhere, this choice should be given - one stick from the second 6 so it could become a 5 and 6-6=1 would correctly become 6-5=1.
6/6 = 1
Hey, long forgotten math, thanks !
Alternate solution for #8: 0 - 9 = 5,
You can move a stick in 9 to turn it into a 5,
and use that stick to turn the - into a +
Thus: 0 + 5 = 5
0-5=-5
#9 alternate: move stick in 2nd number to make it a 5 and move that stick to the answer to turn it into -5.
Or use the stick from the 5 to make the minus a plus. 0+5=5
There were at least two with more than one solution.
The one with the number 17 in it was a blatant cheat and there was one other where the solution given moved more than one stick. Apart from that it was kinda fun.
Yeah, I noticed that too.
Ya, I didn’t understand that move, it was cheating or off
تمارين جميلة ومفيدة لتنشيط خلايا - عصبونات- الدماغ . شكرا جزيلا .
6 + 6 = 8 becomes 6 - 6 ≠ 8
Alternatively, 6 - 6 = 0 because what you do to one side of the equation must be done to the other.
They told you at the start of the video that the "does not equal" sign is not allowed. 😉
-6+6=0 works
10:49 6=6=6 is considered a *number of the beast* but the answer is wrong. You should have 2 equations.
EXCELENTE, PARABÉNS.
#24, the solution 9-9=0 is fine. but 3+5=8 is also a solution. Shall we add another rule that the equation number will be maximum?
Wonderful congratulations.
The '5 + 7 = 2' could be also '9 - 7 = 2' instead of '5 - 7 = -2' and the second one '9 - 5 = 8' could be '3 + 5 = 8' instead of '9 - 9 =0'
yep
Thumbnail #9: 0 - 9 = 5 can also be solved as 0 - 5 = - 5
Question 20 must be reviewed, the answer given is not true.consider the segments of any number, let's take 8 which has seven parts .we can label the parts from top, left side, bottom, right side and the middle part as a,b,c,d,e,f and g.number are created by removing one or more segments of 8 ,example 0 is created by removing the middle segment of 8 which we labeled as 'g'. 3 is created by removing two segments from the left side.Take note of this,a simbol or sign given to any number is always outside of the seven segments of 8,eg -8 +3 or -5.Now my argument about question 20 is that when we follow the order of creating or writing numbers - sign given to number 7 in the equation is within the segments of 8 infact the middle segment. According to the game we are supposed to move one segment/stick or one stick from the signs =,+ or - .I hope someone has understood my argument by now. thank you.
I don't think that to solution to #20 was an honest answer.
4:47 you could also move 1 from the plus and add it to the 5 to make 9 - 7 = 2
I always hated these cause they dont say "Move and/or replace 1 stick". I never knew you could replace it to somewhere else. I miss read it all these years to REmove.... Thank you, now I feel like I can solve anything! lol
An alternative answer for equation #7, there is also 9-2=7
yeah thats what i though too
#11 I solved like 9-2= 7
0-9=5, I came up with 0-5=-5.
or 0+5=5
Change the five to a three by moving upper left match to the right side 3-2 =1
We could just do equal signs for all then say it's absolute value
4:25 5+7=2 can also be changed into 9-7=2
Very nice puzzles😂😂
That's very interesting and enjoyable.
10:00
Wrong equation : 9+5=0
We can not take stick from 9 and add it to 0?
It will be 3+5=8
Video solving = chaning plus sign to minus and making 5 become 9, so : 9-9=0.
also can solve it by 5+5=10~~
#7: 9-7=2
Couldn't you just make a slanted less than or greater than symbol?
Move one of the sticks in the + sign, and replace it over the = sign at a 45 degree angle, to signify that 6 minus 6 in fact does not equal 8 lol
Does not equal is not allowed.
Muy ingenioso, me encantó
at 4:21 , I think the correct solution is to make the equation as 9-7=2
That was fun!
I'm not going to lie. I thought I was done after 6 but somehow caught on. I guess I'm not as slow as I thought. This was fun.
For the thumbnail, my answer was 6+6>8, and for the 1st question appearing in the video was similar, 5 minus 2 > 1, the 2nd one is 3+3=6, the 3rd one was 5+4>2, the 4th one is 1 minus 2 < 7, the 5th one is 6+3=9, the 5th one is 5 minus 6 = negative 1, the 7th one is 5 minus 7 = negative 2, the 8th one is 2+7=9, the 9th one is 0+5=5, the 10th one is 9 minus 1 = 8, the 11th one is 9 minus 2 = 7, and I decided not to watch the rest of the video because I got bored and wanted to do something else.
Love these, can’t believe there are so many. ❤
Plus loved the guy who complained about the background music 😂
There are two solutions for the thumbnail. 1: Remove one of the sticks from the equals sign and throw it away. 6+6-8 can be argued to be correct in that it isn't incorrect. 2: Take the center stick from the 8 and install it in front of the first 6. Neagative6+6=0. I didn't watch the video...
One could also take the vertical stick from the plus sign and put it diagonally across the equal sign turning the equal sign into a not equal sign making it 6-6 not equal to 8 (I don't know how to type the actual not equal sign). This has the advantage to be used on almost any types of these puzzles that has a plus sign as the operator. This also would work when moving a stick changes the number and instead of using it to make a different number just use it to make the equal sign into a not equal sign.
Same here didn't see the video but what about move one of the center ones and make the 6 into a 8 then would be 0+8=8...
@@Eric-mx1eh≠ sign is prohibited. See beginning of video.
I found the background music great. I liked it. It seems to move with the same rythm as the flow of the brain.
I love this video
Amazing. I´m an old mathematician.
I could not make the sticks move. I also think that a few had more than one possibility
#7 ; in plus sign the vertical line could be placed at 5 to make it ,so it can be; 9 - 7 = 2
#3 move the vertical match from the + sign to the lower left of the 5 to make 6 - 4 = 2
6 + 6 > 8 and so on. This works for every one.
The goal is to create an "equation", not a true statement.
6:05 #9 Alternate solution: 0-9=5 to 0+5=5.
Lots of fun! Thanks!
Wonder how many people were able to solve more than a couple without pausing the timer. Suspect not many.
Actually, I solved most of them and skipped ahead, tired of waiting for the timer!! LOL 😉 Also, there were alternate answers for at least a couple of them. 👍
P.S.
I absolutely SUCK at math...but I LOVE puzzles and pattern recognition. 😉😁
I saw alternate solutions (as others did):
Eq11) 9 - 2 = 7;
Eq15) 3 + 5 = 8;
Eq22) -7 + 8 = 1;
Eq24) 3 + 5 = 8.
I would change the equalls sign to the greater than dign since it's not specifically denied
Number 11 equation can also be 9-2=7 remove one stick from the + sign and put it with the number after the plus sign to make seven
ACERTEI QUASE TODOS.
Number 19 could have also had the solution of 9 - 8 = 1 by removing the horizontal stick from the 9 and placing it vertically on the 6 thus arriving at 9 - 8 = 1.
Muito bom top
Well, you could do the following for almost every one of these - move a stick that leaves a number behind, and put that stick across the equal sign, changing it into a ""does not equal" sign.
The instruction in the beginning says this is not permitted.
At least two of these have 2 acceptable answers. Example: # 15, you could also.move the stick from the top front of the 9, to make a 3, then move that stick to the 0, to make an 8. 3 + 5 = 8.
Yeah a few of them have multiple answers
En la 13, hize 7 menos 4 igual a 3, solo movi el del 5 para armar el 3.
9-1
6:10
Is "0+5=5" wrong?
3 - 2= 1 make the 5 a 3 by moving 1 stick
Allahumma Sholli'Ala Sayyidinaa Muhammad Wa'ala Ali Sayyidina Muhammad 🤲🤲🤲👍👍👍🙏🙏🙏
There are at least four with alternative solutions
The rules are not clear for the equation #17. There are a total of 5 characters including the symbols and one is expected to chop and change, re-arrange within those and keeping to those 5 characters. By putting a minus sign in front you are creating 6 characters. This rule is not clear. One can then add extra symbol or symbols in between anywhere, e.g. between equal sign and a numeral. Is that acceptable? Also can a division sign be acceptable? Rules have to be clear and explicit. Clarity and fairness.
3 -- 2= 1
# 5 @ 3:23 could also have this solution: 6 + (-3) = 3
8.44 7 - 4 = 3 as alternative
5+4=9
3-2=1
Game was amazing
6/6 = 1 also works.
Turn the 8 into a zero, then use that stick to turn the first 6 into -6.
At 12:40, I took the top stick from the 1 and put it on the 6 to make an 8, so that it's 9 - 8 =1. Yes, it's a short "1" but it's still a 1. (ʘ_ʘ)
Got them all but #16. Tricky bastards.
It is tricky but I can't come up with what actually happened there. 6=6=6 . Can you please kindly explain
#7 - At minute 4:49 the simplest solution is to use the same match to obtain 9-7=2 instead of the one proposed by the creator of the quiz which gives the result 5-7=-2 (my solution only uses 5 elements between numbers and symbols , while the author's uses 6).
---
#9 - At minute 6:03 the simplest solution is to turn the 9 into a 5 and use the match you took away to turn the - sign into a +. Thus we would obtain: 0+5=5. This solution is better than the one suggested by the author, because the match I used travels less... and also because it does not alter two values but only one.
---
#11 - At minute 7:20 the simplest solution is to transform the + sign into a - sign and with that match transform the n° 1 into n° 7. This solution (9-2=7) is better because the used match travels less... and also because it does not alter two values but only one.
---
#15 - At minute 9:58 the best solution is the one suggested by the author: 9-9=0, but there is a second one where you take a match from the first factor (9), transform it into 3 and then use that matchstick to change the result from 0 to 8, so we will get: 3+5=8.
several of these have alternate answers
Many of these tasks have more than one solution. What does that mean for an IQ?
#15 3+5=8
#22 -7+8=1
Merci, j'ai beaucoup apprecié!
Numbers 7, 11, 15, 22 and 24 have two solutions
#22 can also be -7*8=1
six plus six doesn't equal nine ... move one stick from the right to the equal sign ... easy
#11: 9 - 2 = 7
7:23 And 9-2=7 Stirring just a toothpick too
