I want to see that thing done, and rockin' Mike. I bet that humbucker will lay down some rock and roll, once it's done. I like this guitar.... in pewter grey. Bee looking at it for a while now. Good project guitar.
I want it done also. It's lying around in parts, and will be well into January I think. I'm keeping it HSS. Not thrilled with the Ss but not worst I've gotten.
Tuners are a pain on this one eh? Listen, I still have the tuners from my EART Tele. They are really good and like new. If you think they would fit and look ok on your Kramer, shoot me your address and I put them in the mail for you tomorrow.
Very nice of you to offer him like that, and offer to go to that trouble, J-Man. You are one heck of a guy! Merry Christmas to both of you - and to your Families! Hope all is well.
@@jimmyz2098 Thanks, but it's nothing really... these tuners are just sitting in a box and I enjoy Mike's videos. My wife works casually for the post office so it wasn't really a problem to ship those out. You need a set JZ? LOL Merry Christmas and a happy and Covid free New Year :-)
Great videos Mike - looking forward to your Part 4 of this project. I just purchased the same Ruby Red Kramer at Best Buy (here in Canada) during their boxing day sale, and my serial number is 15 numbers above yours! I'm waiting to see what new tuners you will be using on your Kramer VT-211S so that I can change mine too. The original tuners are really bad and I cannot play more than 2 mins without it going out of tune. I've been looking around to see if Grover, Kluson or Ping tuners would have a fit-for-fit replacement model; but have not found yet. I'll wait to see what you find. Happy New Year to you and everyone on this channel... Cheers!
Hey, where are you located? I ordered a set of kaish off AliExpress. Tracking information is there in canada and expected delivery is 6 January. I have finished the rest of the guitar today. Just need the tuners. I'm hoping I can make them work. I did all the same research for an up branded name but none. Seems Gibson went for really poor and few options for good tuners of the same type. If the next set is crap I'll likely bite the bullet and modify to install typical Wilkinson s that are on most guitars. I'll let ya know what happens. Happy New year
Montreal. I lived there 41 years. My final leaving was 2006 when Bombardier closed down the development of the c series aircraft and I moved back to the Haviland division to work on the global Express business aircraft development of a new version. Haven't been back since except for a couple of days flying in and out for work. Still have a sister up there in machine. I'm down here in St Thomas Ontario fully retired now
Good news Guitarman. I got the new kaish tuners today. Between the originals on kramer and kaish I was able to make rock solid set. Order these, www.aliexpress.com/item/1005001418892925.html By the time they come, my video will be published to show what I've done. The new kaish do not have the exact mounting hole footprint. So I plugged the screw holes so I can drill new ones. Existing will be hidden under the new tuners. Result will be awesome.
hi Mike! just wanted to let you know that I made the decision to pick up a set of locking tuners on Aliexpress for CDN$22 to replace the cheap ones on this guitar. I filed down the frets so that they would be smoother and oiled the fretboard and back of the neck with regular mineral oil. The guitar has yet to go out of tune and plays great. First time I use locking tuners and they work like a charm. I constantly check the tuning with a digital tuner and it's surprising how stable locking tuners hold the strings. Just wanted to let you and your fan base know, and hopefully you will all find this information useful for future projects. Enjoy the weekend all! G.
Thanks. I would have done something like that as well if I couldn't have made the standard tuners that come on the guitar work. But I was successful in finding a way to make a set of tuners that were original. I'm happy to hear that yours is a turned out really well. I was playing with mine again yesterday and the tuners I made also hold very very well the tuning. And the guitar feels so good in my arms when I hold it and play it.
Sean, worked in this case though. Was a gearing loose misalignment. I haven't found goto in this style. Where have you found them. I ran into these shit ones on the Epi special ll also. Again same gearing issue. Never want to get these again. Was accidental on the Epiphone. Didn't know it had these on it. There weren't any pictures of the back of the headstock and then I 😕 found why. Thanks for watching
New subscriber. I just bought this guitar from Scar my Guitar. Can you let me know the tuners you used? Were they drop in or add extra holes? The pickups could use.mpre punch? Any recommendations? I am ignorant to changing out factory parts. I am watching your series of vids on this guitar now
I did a video on how to create a good tuner from The originals and the set I bought off of Amazon. It's in the playlist for this guitar I think. That way I was able to keep the original tuners with the original footprint
@2bikemikesguitartopics145 I found it and watched. So, it's the original tuner going into the aftermarket piece that mounts to the back of head? I got lost when you showed how they go together as it's my first time, but I'm apt enough to figure it out. I'm ignorant on these things. Wondering why 10mm, 18:1 tuners, of any kind wouldn't fit? See, I'm ignorant on these things haha
Mahogany is another term in guitars that manufacturers have applied to SO many species of unrelated woods that it means nothing. If a company tells you Honduran or African mahogany then at least you can narrow down what types of wood they are talking about.
The tone potentiometer control needs to be replaced with a new one. If you can't do that then you need to find someone to do it. In the meantime the guitar should still be playable minus tone
@@2bikemikesguitartopics145 yeah it’s still playable (it fell off a few months ago but I ain’t a big fan of the guitar so I didn’t really care much, imma replace the tuners in it though)
@@leoncorbett4553 I wanted to keep the original style tuners, so I had to make a good set from two different sets. I have a video on that. Now that I've corrected all the issues this is a sweet guitar.

Nice work, Mike! Thanks for the video. Hope you have a nice Christmas!👍😎🎸🎶
Thanks
Merry Christmas to everyone over there
Another great work bud. I used to have a mahogany tele.
Thanks, I'm getting there, BUT, slowly due to parts supply
Most likely a dull router but cause the inside to be like that. Good work!
Thanks Ken. I appreciate your support

Thank you Tom. Merry Christmas

Should have just grabbed some gotoh tuners, good for the money. Trying to upgrade cheap budget parts with other cheap budget parts seldom works out.

The tone knob fell off completely what do I do
Leon can't you just press it back in place, or is there something more than the knob falling off?
