    We made the pie filling because we had some frozen crusts someone gave us. The filling was super delicious. The crusts were hurting because they had been in the freezer so long that parts of them dried out and other parts got sticky when we thawed them. So it wasn't the most attractive pie, but it tasted great with some butter pecan ice cream.

    I think when people want to make their first apple pie they run out and get apples, well it makes a difference what you buy -DON'T buy "red delicious" your apple pie will turn to mush.

    Additionally, I incorporate my ice water 1 tbsp at a time, using a fork and a bowl. A food processor seems to overwork the ingredients.

    I'd add some ice cubes to that water .. and a bit more water .. it just falls apart ..
    and i would never roll the dough first .. prepare the apples first then roll the dough or i'll dry out or the butter will melt inside the dough and making it sticky

  • @TomyHun
    @TomyHun 14 ปีที่แล้ว

    I tried this recipe and it tastes and looks great! BUT: next time I'll heat the apples so that they are shrunk when I put them in the oven and so there's no huge hole in my pie. Nevertheless, this one really works out well!

    I don't think you have to but it might taste to salty with salted butter so then you probably wouldn't want to add salt.
