    I think there should have been a road only test too. I've found there to be a fairly significant difference on the road as one would expect. The game's stats show a pretty huge difference in cornering G too which is mostly backed up by my experience. However a combination of the offroad tires doing incredibly well offroad (as one would expect) and the incredibly small PI change of offroad tires makes them, in my opinion, frankly unbalanced. So even though I feel rally does better on the road than described here I also favour offroad tires more than described here due to the huge PI difference. I mentally view rally tires as a specialised road tire rather than an offroad tire due to the PI advantage and the performance of rally tire on road.
    Of course I've not found many situations with enough of a mix to warrant rally tires over offroad or road specific tires to matter anyway. I'd also be very interested in how road vs rally tires fare in wet conditions (and to an extent dry) for road specific courses, though that is obviously beyond the scope of this video.

      i wouldnt look at your lateral G honestly its all about tire temperatures lateral G s just a theoretical number which only applies if you can heat your tires up to race temps.

    • @olivialambert4124
      @olivialambert4124 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jakevicknair5262 I simply don't agree here. Tire temperatures are incredibly easy to get right. If you're struggling that much you might want to look at changing your tire pressures.

    • @jakevicknair5262
      @jakevicknair5262 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@olivialambert4124 getting them to heat up isnt the hard part necessarily its more how they warm up and when. you could definitely negate the additional temps by increasing tire pressure but you can only add so much before you get some pretty negative effects in your corner turn in.

    New subscriber, excellent videos. 1 small thought, this can kinda go towards any of these comparison videos, since you said if a circuit has 50/50 road to dirt you think the rally tires would be better, id say you should test that theory, with 1 additional test, and thatd be if the rally tires were better in that 3rd test, to then upgrade the offroad setup to make it the 800 p.i. so itd be a fair additional comparison. Its just a thought as i know itd make a longer video/be more work

      @@ConnerSpeed6 I can already tell you what will happen, with off-road tires, you will absolutely destroy your rally times times.
      I've been doing a bunch of theses tests myself and I've come to the conclusion that there is virtually no benefit to rally tires over off-road tires, which is disappointing actually. There should be a sweet spot where rally tires shine like on 50/50 tarmac to dirt, (or close to), but even Travis like that, the rally tires aren't keeping up.
      Sure they are better on tarmac, but the extra pi I can use to increase power, and the much better handling on dirt far out weighs any gains from better tarmac traction with rally tires.
      Bottom line, off-road tires in every test I've done is a much better way to go. I saw almost no use for rally tires right now. That's too bad!
      I think I'm the next update, some kind of adjustment will be necessary, or else no one will time with rally tires at all.

    I feel like the Rally Tire is supposed to be more of a mixed surface tire. A jack of all trades master of none situation. Rally races in real life take place on mixed surfaces with a good amount of tarmac and gravel. The Offroad tires on the other hand should be used if you plan on NOT being on tarmac, or at least very little. Another thing to note is the ACTUAL rally cars in game (#34 Beetle, 207 Peugot, Civic Coupe, etc) have there own tires that, apparently, have more grip than the rally tires upgrade. might be worth looking into

    • @ConnerSpeed6
      @ConnerSpeed6  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For sure. I have not been using the rally tires for anything at all that touches dirt honestly. They are just too slidy and lack the lateral grip that the offroad tires have. As for the BF Goodrich and Toyo "Rally" compounds, they are pretty damn good overall, but from my tests, the offroad tires still have better grip offroad! It's wild. Makes building and tuning a bit more fun!

      Even more, I "discovered" the stock tires on the Peugeot 207 for tarmac. I had been running Slicks and experimented with the Stock tires. I saw no appreciable difference in its fabulous performance. The Slicks came off, and the PI difference allowed me to bring the power way up. It is now an absolute terror on pavement in addition to rally with the same tires. The handling on stock tires is amazing.

  • @ChaosShadow00x
    @ChaosShadow00x ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Funny, I just did a buncha tests exactly like these and went looking to see if anyone found the same results. Rally tires are, frankly, useless in comparison to off-roads. OR's arnt that much worse than rally on tarmac, but are SO much more dominant off of it. Combine this with the PI the off-roads save and actually using that and I've found that unless the track your on is 80%+ tarmac, the Rally tires arnt even competitive. Even with 50/50, even if the street portion is technical, if theres **any** handling consideration on the dirt, OR's blow rally away. I consistently am 1-3 seconds faster on basically every one of the 10 tracks I tried.
    Basically, my conclusion is Rally is for street cars that couldnt afford semi slicks.

    To be completely honest, I don't think any of the compounds are actually worth it in the most direct sense of the word. They increase your performance index by a metric fuck ton (in some instances literally from the top of B class to the start of S1) without the benefit to back these insane numbers up. @@ConnerSpeed6 yea for any event that has more dirt than tarmac. For an do everything build i think rally tires will be better. Kinda sad seeing how powerfull the ofroad tires feel especially when they offer the same pi as stock tires but with more grip for dirt
      Also i think the pi system doesnt factor in what surface the tire is gonna be used on.

    The rally tires behave more like semi slicks to me because once I take the rally tires on dirt at all I'm wasting time digging into the ground for a bite and on tarmac the rally tires are too grippy which makes no sence off road tires definitely make better rally tires because they give you grip when you need it most and extra down force can be added to make up for the poor grip on tarmac

    They mixed up this a little.
    In fh4 it was sure u went on rally tyre for PG.
    Now it's messed up. Some cars have to go on offroad some other need rally tyre.
    And it's doesn't depends on build or car type, it's just a data record which one is better with rally.
    I'm tuning and testing this for a week now and still doesn't make any sense. I'm a multiple grandmaster in PG in fh4, thousands run on my setups and here no one my setup works.
    All my car is slippy af. I had to build up at least 3 different tune for one car like a trial&error to figure out what works what not.
    In PG (and I think it's true for rally, dirt, scramble, whatever...) , most cars have to use offroad tyre, but some track toy and hardcoded "stiff" car have to use rally tyre.
    In the arena, just the trucks and off-road vehicles can use offroad tyre, the rally completely crap on any car, and the snow tyre is the best, almost like driving in rails.
    At the aeroport, just offroad on anything, except the "stiff" cars. Snow tyres don't works
    At sand doesn't matter which one u put up ?!?!
    At the ruins, again, everything on offroad except the stiffs. Snow tyre crap as rally. Or worse. With nails on it....
    I'm sure I won't be grandmaster in this title😁
    And for more, others using TCR, abs, etc.... U can't compare with them if u like me run with no assists on.

    I'm probably not gonna watch this(I say this politely. I'm sure your videos are great but I'm just video surfing and commenting) but I'll toss in my two cents.
    Off road grips dirt trails and off road like tarmac while rally has a bit more slicker feel, you can drift using those while offroad is just pure grip when off road.
