This Netflix special was amazing, I've never seen such an intimate performance before in my life.. I couldn't imagine being there live... Goosebumps just thinking about it..
Such a sad song Where he once lived and no one with that name no longer lives here anymore. So sad when you move out knowing you can't go back to the house you once lived in. RIP DAD MISS YOU
"That guy on stage...that's how I see you" I've never been a huge rock star nor will I probably ever be, but I feel that line. I felt the same way about my father for a long time after he passed. For so long he was my hero, but I was also angry at him. He was "my hero and my greatest foe" I have been a fan of Bruce for years and for a looong time Nebraska has been my favorite album. (Right up there with Blue, Tapestry, Late for the Sky, Eli and the Thirteenth Confession, and so may others) I was right in front of the stage when he performed at Hershey in May 2014 in front of tens of thousands of people, but seeing this show was entirely different. I was there on my birthday on 7/13/18 and there were maybe 1,000 people in the auditorium including the ushers and people backstage. What an amazing songwriter, performer, and entertainer.
MrRUKnight It’s the narrative as you’ve quoted gets me every time. I reckon a lot of people can relate to this with a close family member. Even if not, it’s hard not to feel for Bruce and his own relationship with his dad. Very sad. No money in the world can repair a strained or damaged relationship once somebody has gone.
@@mankydave67 absolutely, I think a lot of people can relate to this and those who can't now might be able to in the future. It's not rare for Bruce to talk about his father. He sang about his father in Independence Day, and somewhere he introduced it as a song about a father and son at a kitchen table. He also sang about him in Factory. On the tracks "Growin' Up" and "The River" from the album Live 1975-1985 he goes into great detail of two different stories about his father. As far as repairing a relationship with someone who is gone, my own experience is that it can be done through forgiveness and living amends.
Last night I dreamed that I was a child Out where the pines grow wild and tall I was trying to make it home through the forest Before the darkness falls I heard the wind rustling through the trees And ghostly voices rose from the fields I ran with my heart pounding down that broken path With the devil snappin' at my heels I broke through the trees and there in the night My father's house stood shining hard And bright the branches and brambles tore My clothes and scratched my arms But I ran 'till I fell shaking in his arms I awoke and I imagined the hard things that pulled us apart Will never again Sir tear us from each other's hearts I got dressed and to that house I did ride from out on the road I could see Its windows shining in light I walked up the steps and stood on the porch a woman I didn't recognize came and spoke to me Through a chained door I told her my story and who I'd come for She said "I'm sorry son but no one by that name Lives here anymore" (spoken) My father's house shines hard and bright It stands like a beacon calling me in the night Calling and calling so cold and alone Shining 'cross this dark highway Where our sins lie unatoned
He DID! If you knew anything about Springsteen, you'd know he is a HUGE fan of both. He has several songs and a couple of albums that are homages to both.
The dream is stunning. I cried hard the first time I watch this on Netflix. And every time since. Just beautiful.
That story about his dream is just stunning. Totally speechless. This dude is legendary!
you mean Fakendary lol

Thank you Bruce Springsteen 👍 ♥️ 😊 👏
Last night I dreamed that I was a child
Out where the pines grow wild and tall
I was trying to make it home through the forest
Before the darkness falls
I heard the wind rustling through the trees
And ghostly voices rose from the fields
I ran with my heart pounding down that broken path
With the devil snappin' at my heels
I broke through the trees and there in the night
My father's house stood shining hard
And bright the branches and brambles tore
My clothes and scratched my arms
But I ran 'till I fell shaking in his arms
I awoke and I imagined the hard things that pulled us apart
Will never again Sir tear us from each other's hearts
I got dressed and to that house
I did ride from out on the road I could see
Its windows shining in light
I walked up the steps and stood on the porch a woman
I didn't recognize came and spoke to me
Through a chained door
I told her my story and who I'd come for
She said "I'm sorry son but no one by that name
Lives here anymore"
(spoken)
My father's house shines hard and bright
It stands like a beacon calling me in the night
Calling and calling so cold and alone
Shining 'cross this dark highway
Where our sins lie unatoned
Thank Bruce for this incredible song for me and my papa

Hi!
This is no Christic 1990. This performance is getting into Clint Eastwood territory

😂
Inauthentic. Sounds like Springsteen spent days listening to Pete Seeger and Woody Guthrie lol. The fake twang doesn't help.
