Hi all! This is Part 3 of a 3 part series using the same color palette for the bloom technique. I'm using the same Sheleeart recipe too. This is a bit of a longer video because I thought it was important to show why I kept failing at keeping 3 blooms on my canvas--I ultimately decided that the rectangle shape of my 12X24 coupled with the centrifugal force of spinning made it nearly impossible to keep the blooms on the edge on the canvas. All was not lost though as I was able to successfully able to spin out one large bloom with amazing results. Stay tuned to the end to see the dried results of all three pieces.
I post 2 videos regularly each week--one on Tuesday and one on Saturday. Both will air around 3:00 PM US east coast time. Occasionally you'll get a bonus video for premieres and collaborations--but Tuesdays and Saturdays are firm. xoxo --Karen
Colors/Brands/SheleeArt Bloom Recipe:
House Paint-base aka puddle for the canvas:
Glidden Essentials Semi Gloss White House paint (Home Depot) 4 cup batch mixed with 1/4 cup Golden GAC800 to prevent crazing.
Pouring Medium aka PM-mix with all colors EXCEPT the cell activator:
Sherwin Williams HGTV Ultra Deep Base UNtinted house paint (you can substitute with Behr Interior/Exterior High Gloss Enamel DEEP Base #8300 (Home Depot)); Minwax Polyacrylic Gloss varnish ; 2:1 ratio paint to varnish. Mix well.
Brands/Colors mixed: Golden Fluid Acrylics: Violet Oxide, Teal, and Iridescent Copper Light Fine; PearlEx Pigments in Pink Gold
Several drops of Golden Fluid Acrylics into a 3 oz cup of PM (filled about 3/4s to the top); stir well.
All pigments are 1/8th tsp. pre-disbursed with a small amount of JoSonja Varnish to wet it, then added into 3 oz. cup of Pouring Medium; stir well.
Cell Activator (last color on your puddle before you swipe or blow it out-no PM):
Australian Floetrol + Amsterdam Permanent Blue Violet mixed with a dollop of Black Oxide. 4:1 ratio Austrialian Floetrol to paint

I didn’t know that it’s possible to reuse the same paint| this is great !
Karen, This is stunning! So glad you kept it going! I actually love all three cause they are all so wonderful. ❤👍🌟💥🥰🌈
Ahhh Karen thank goodness you didn't give up, the result is beautiful. For me the second one was my favourite, made me think of water rushing over stones. So glad you ended the day wearing Happy Pants !

Number two is unique thanks for all your time
Talk about perseverance! Good job on that beautiful big bloom. But more than anything, thank you for showing us your fail. I started my fluid art journey 18 months ago after watching hours upon hours of videos on it. I was very frustrated when I would have one failure after another. I even took a three month respite from painting till I knocked that chip off my shoulder. Every video I watched showed such beautiful paintings! Why was it so hard for me? Then I realized that the you tubers DO have fails. They just choose not to show them. So when I see a video like this I feel consoled knowing that even experienced artists have fails. Thank you for showing it - I’m sure I’m not the only one who feels this way. Love your paintings and the way you explain the process as you paint! Thank you!
Look what persistence gets you! Love watching you work. ❤️
It's ABSOLUTELY amazing, please leave it as is... it's gorgeous !😍
What a fabulous series, and this episode was so great watching the struggle...thanks for sharing that the struggle is real even for accomplished artists like yourself!! Makes it easier to take the defeats in my own studio.!!
P.s. I really like #3. They say a really GOOD abstract should read well in every orientation! You nailed it!
Absolutely beautiful! Number 3 is my favourite.
So beautiful! 💛 Love it!
We don't always get what we aim for, but perseverance do pay off!!! It's a stunning painting!!! 😍xx
OMG the last two are stunning. I love your persistence. GORGEOUS ❤️
I love number 3. They are all gorgeous!
The 3rd one is honestly my favorite painting you've ever done! The dark purple was stunning!
Karen this a spectacular painting, you always find the way to save a fail painting, congrats because this one is a winner I’m going to try this one🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
Beautiful Karen! Your tenacity is admirable and necessary because I have none. I would have given up after your first scrape. Thank you for sharing... and you are the nicest grumpy pants I know.
This is purely beautious! You are the Queen of blooms. When I first started watching you...you were the Queen of silicone flip cups. Whatever technique you try you are never satisfied until you perfect it! Nothing but respect!
I love that big stretched bloom, the watercolor effects are very soft and give a nice relief for the eye.
I'm looking forward to seeing the big square canvas with 3 blooms spun out.
You're always a pleasure to spend time with, thank you!
This reminds me when of I taught jewelry classes or the few times I accepted a commission to make a piece for someone. It was almost impossible for me to make a piece that I didn’t really like, or thought was poorly conceived. They never turned out well and I was growling and cussing in my head the whole time I worked on them. I had to have some kind of artistic investment in a piece or a strong desire to demonstrate what I thought was an important skill. You are really hanging in there with this one. My hat is off to you. Your final piece was a great reward for all of your frustration. You’re a trooper!
Love all three and those yummy colors!! Envy your fabulous talent! 🥰🥰💜
I love all three but for me my favourite is the last one in the final orientation. Very dramatic colours. Also love your dogged perseverance.
I wonder if you could do the three bloom rectangle by creating the two outside blooms first, fairly close together (with no paint on the canvas in the middle), spinning them until they are stable, then, with minimum pillow, do the centre bloom (sucking any excess pillow out with a pipette) then spinning. Just a thought. I have confidence in you. You’ve got this.
Karen it’s absolutely beautiful, 3 is the magic number, this is my favourite out of the 3 💚☮️🏴
My heart goes out to you Karen. What a shame loosing all that paint plus All the effort doing the paintings. I would definitely say it was the shape of the canvas where the problem lay. Can't wait to see your 3 on a large square one. As for your AMAZING PAINTINGS . They were all great to me and so different. I think the last one was my favourite. I think it had more things to look at. Plus the hanging choice. I've never seen that since I started watching pours about 2 years ago. It's phenomenal. Well done for the perseverance lol.
Love from Scotland 🏴
And Sandra 🌹🌹🌹
I have a bunch of ideas about the three blooms. Yes. Square canvas. I love the final bloom. I love the horizontal orientation. Never give up, never surrender.

Lots of work, to do these, Thank You. I like violet oxide, it look wonderful with Turquoise. Have a good afternoon
I would love to see you try to gently scrape those beautiful cell centers with a wide spatula onto some nice flat rocks. Might be a really beautiful pour and save some of those beautiful centers. I love painting rocks.

3rd is my fave, in the last orientation you showed. Gorgeous.
This is gorgeous - loved the series & it was definitely too small of a canvas for 3 blooms 😁❤
Taaa Daaa already for goodness sake!!! It's gorgeous!!!

Gorgeous Karen... I think this one is my fave of this Series
Oh my goodness. Thus is incredible!!!!
I am in Love! This is gorgeous Karen!
Absolutely Stunning! I’m a new fan of a spun-out bloom now!!!
I think you’re right about the square canvas working with the 3 bloom spin-out but I’d suggest a tight triangle🔺layout with the blooms. I think they’d stretch out equally together.... (ps. I’ve never tried this) Lol! Wishes & good luck! 🍀 😊👍
SOOOOO BEAUTIFUL ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I live number 3...my fav is 3 2 then 1. Your amazing like usual. 👍
OMG, that's just GORGEOUS!!!

Oh my. Where did you get the patience to try the three bloom thing 5-6 times!!! I’d have walked away to the wine cabinet and left it for a few days. Your final bloom is a WINNER!!
