    Thanks for the videos. A side effect of advertising the planes for sale is, we get to see the performance and characteristics of many airplanes. Typically most of us out here don't get the opportunity to fly so many types. I have learned a lot from your work. So thanks again. Please keep making content for us.

    Did my multi in a 310R, love those 285 hp motors 😁 - with 160 gallons of gas you can go a looooong way if you want. Was a great airplane to land, rock solid.

    Got a chance to fly a 310R a few years back, it flew like it was on rails and one of the best looking GA planes in my opinion!

    Sometime repaired planes/cars are BETTER than new as the tolerances are a little more closely followed during repairs and they try for middle road tolerances vs during manufacture you can have tolerances on each end of the spectrum!

    Appreciate your videos. How many type ratings do you hold?

  • @brianb5594
    @brianb5594 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hey Rich, the STEC55X is rate based versus the Garmin is attitude based so it’s not as precise. You can set heading and approach on the STEC. You have to hold the heading button and press approach and then it should fly a set heading until capturing the localizer on VTF. The Cirrus SR22-G2 has similar setup. Great video!

    • @FlyingwithRich
      @FlyingwithRich  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the tip! Seems like I’ve operated the 55X before like that and it and it held the previous heading until LOC capture. This one wanted to turn away from heading and intercept. Probably user error!

    • @brianb5594
      @brianb5594 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@FlyingwithRich it probably depends on how it’s setup or could be an issue with it. I usually just fly heading mode until close to the localizer and then hit APCH mode. The Garmin and Avidyne are better than the 55X AP but I know STEC has rate based models now too that are great. I think 310 Pilot has one of the newer STEC’s. That would be a good upgrade for the 310 you demoed.

    Great looking plane! With the avionics this would be a great platform for a family who doesn't need turbocharged engines for high alt. flying. But if the budget is a bit more (about 150k) I would got for a Seneca V, roomier club seat cabin, slightly lower operating costs, turbo charged engines for those mountain getaways, no critical engines as they're counter rotating, and newer airframe overall.

    Now, I like that plane. For the last several yrs. I've been lookin for just the right one. 185 on 20ph is what I'm talkin bout. Very nice plane. And, your camera man ain't as pretty as the one on the last video.

  • @mr.ginnationfunlifestyle3891
    @mr.ginnationfunlifestyle3891 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    The price discussion here is so useless. The plane is worth the money in the actual market and the avionics have there value too. If this is to expensive to you: ok. But don’t blame the plane for it. I think, if people spend 1 Million for a Cirrus and they sell quite a lot, this nice beautiful 310 is a bargain even with two engines and built in 1978 and not in 2022. Nice video like always, very good useful content, keep up this great stuff and I will enjoy. Save flying. And I want to say, that it’s a huge amount of experience to sit in so many different planes and fly them professional. And have the guts to do this with foreign planes. Thanks for this great content.

    Wondering if that’s the ol’ Parks College airplane….. The only thing that bites about an R model 310 is that you probably can’t get them into a standard size T Hangar like you can a Q model or even 58 Baron.

    I notice you always lean your T310 variants following startup and go full rich on TO. I never did that with my T310R. Do you see problems with idle mixture in your airplanes?

    • @FlyingwithRich
      @FlyingwithRich  ปีที่แล้ว

      I got that technique from long time twin Cessna pilot who worked for Cessna. The instructions were really to listen/feel the engine for smoothness and adjust mixture from there. I guess I’m in that habit for about all the engines.
