She's a beauty! Would have liked to have seen an example of the tuning stability - just using the whammy up and down and showing it staying in tune or what small changes it may cause. Obviously I'm more than happy to take Darrell's word but it would have been cool to see.

Cool series, Darrell! I like the mods, and I'm especially interested in the Solo Jazzmaster trem as a potential substitute for a similar trem in my Eastwood Gemini. The Eastwood whammy bar just falls out - no detent to hold it in - making the Solo version attractive as a replacement.

From Leo: You did a great job on the demonstration and build. The black pickups are a good choice for the color of the body. I am curious about the lack of shielding on the pick guard. In all fairness, I fully shielded mine before it was ever put it together, so I cannot quantify that it made a difference.

I would have liked to hear more about the pickup selection - especially the dimarzio - I have had the opportunity to buy a stk1-90 lightly used - did a lot of research on it, and the jury is still out for me, but if I was going to go all in like you did, I'd probably give it a try, it's a 4 wire unit, a "stacker" model, which makes it a strange thing, it's noise canceling in its default position, two wired opposite poles, but you can series wire then or tap them - which made it sound like a good classic p90, just basically adding another 3 way switch gets you the series(either with itself or the other neck pickup, coil tap and the default stacker humbuckeri-and each was a usable kink to explore. The complaint is that it isn't a true p90 unless it is set in coil tap, and the sound is slightly different. I was hoping that you were going to do that since it would have added a bunch of new sounds. Anyway, I really loved the build, and the work put into it with the frets I'll be taking on when I get my TL deluxe kit still haven't decided what bridge - the easy option is to use cut down 3 saddle back loaded for total ease and known quantity - no precision drilling and routing, I already have a similar bridge in my partscaster tele which also uses p90s btw. :) and a 22 fret 60s strat rosewood fingerboard. I'll be needing to source tools and stuff, so 'solo' will be great go-to. Thanks for the great content

Wow man, what an interesting set of tones. The clean neck sounds very "Strat neck pup" to me, while both clean together sounds kind of somewhere between "both Tele pups selected," and "Strat position 2." The bridge pup sounds very unique, but the closest I can think of is Seth Lover Wide Range neck pickup. That bridge pup also sounds bright and perfectly balanced with the tonal profile of that single up in the neck. From where I'm standing (well, listening, actually 😂) you hit one of the best balanced H/S combinations I've ever heard, bar none, and I mean from both the tone AND output standpoints. Very well done, sir!
