Diezani was born in Port Harcourt on the 6th of December 1960. Following the completion of her primary education in Port Harcourt, she proceeded to Howard University in the US, where she obtained her first degree. Following the end of her studies, she returned to Nigeria and immediately joined the Shell Corporation Development Corporation. Again she jetted out after a short while to the UK and later obtained her MBA degree from Cambridge Business School.
