- Sky News host Rita Panahi says the FINA decision to ban trans women from competing in female competition was “fairness” triumphing over a “twisted version of inclusion”.
“FINA, world swimming's governing body, made the only rational decision possible and restored fairness to the women's competition by imposing bans on transgender athletes,” Ms Panahi said.
“Men are bigger, faster and stronger. The very best female athletes in the world have no chance of beating male competitors whether it's in basketball, tennis, athletics or swimming.
“In the end sanity prevailed. Reality trumped fantasy. Facts beat feelings.”

Exactly. You see this attitude particularly in younger people. They will tell you that everyone has a right to everything because of freedom, right to expression, etc. and they don't know how to critically examine situations where there are competing interests. Sometimes one group's "rights" will impede on another group's rights, and you have to make the determination that one of those groups should not be entitled to what they are asking for because it isn't fair and isn't in the best overall interest. What 0.3% of men want should not be more important than the rights of 50% of the population.

The situation was all about trans women potentially dominating the field, but no one talks about how trans men (biological women) are mostly at a physical disadvantage when they compete against men. Bigger king capacity say goodbye to legitimate female swimmers ever winning and runners. If 300 high school boys can beat the fastest Olympic female runner that shows how unfair biology is. Natural born men are stronger and faster that’s just how nature is since they have hundreds to thousands of years protecting women and hunting. They needed to be strong so evolution made them strong that’s why humans are alive, women were homebodies for most of history. We didn’t need the same evolutionary advantages as men such as larger muscles. Women were gathers or they raised the children depending on the time period. Evolution gave women stronger sympathy and emotions to better teach children morals. If trans people are allowed into female sports some men might just lie and say they are a female not because they actually believe that but because they want to win. Countries would replace real women with the men identifying as females to win. Women would be completely thrown out of their own sports so yeah we want these people out.

Sports does technically fall in the entertainment category. Every entertainment category has to put in the work to have the spotlight of the public. They don’t want to do that, they want to be in the spotlights that already exists (men and women). People have to want to watch you. It’s a personal problem, not the world’s problem.
If you can't drink or smoke till you're 21, it's more than reasonable to not be able to gender transition till you're at least 21 as well.

It is selective rationality. The same types of arguments are used in furtherance of irrational arguments related to feminism and racism. The disease is still there, it is just that this small area of life has at least temporarily allowed that personality from growing. We are far from out of the woods, even in this sport.
But that still doesn’t solve the problem. Because trans women are also weaker than cis men. So competing with the men is also unfair for them. So now we need to make a sports league for transgender people.

Women suffer from enough inequalities in their profession as it is. Whether it’s about salary differences or job opportunities. This is just adding to it. I am all about trans rights but not when it alienates women’s rights further. Regardless of hormones levels, biological men have bigger hearts and lung capacity, which cannot be reversed.
The little bit of opportunities women get should be reserved for women. We should not have to share it with more males.
Nobody mentions that one of the biggest differences between men and women is the pelvic girdle. A woman is anatomically designed to give birth, which means her pelvis has a large opening through which a baby can pass. Thus her hip bones are located outward of her pelvis, which not only gives her that cute wiggle that men love, but also gives her a substantial disadvantage when she runs or swims. A man's hip bones are below the pelvis, giving him a mechanical advantage over a woman. No amount of hormones or drugs can change that anatomical difference, and no gender modification surgery can change it.
If you want to really see the difference, find videos of women sprinting with a camera angle looking at them coming toward the camera. Then compare to the same videos with a man. You will see the difference. A woman's legs are not vertical, they are at an angle from her hips down to her knees. In many cases her knees almost touch. That angle sucks up power. A man's legs are almost a straight line from hip to ankle. That gives him more power every inch from the gun to the tape. So Matt is exactly right.

This is in no way discriminating trans. People have that right to choose their way of life, but not because you think you are trans woman, everything else is woman anatomically and physiologically. Some things are innately built in to you biologically.

As a former competitive swimmer this decision made my day. It was pure insanity allowing the likes of that US college swimmer decimate the women. His wins and race records should be stricken from the records.

Sports is a physiological activity, so a person’s physiology should be the deciding factor of what division you play in. That’s why we have lightweight and heavyweight boxers; they are physiologically distinct. An excellent decision, and coming up around the same time as Roe v Wade being overturned gives me hope.

That age 12 restriction was a big mistake. There will be under 12 transitioning which would be sickening. Those under 12 won't be able to defend themselves. Beyond 12 transitioning will be hidden. scandals will come to light quite often for hiding a transition, medals taken away. Biiiiiig mistake.

This is actually not good news. The devil is in the details, the new law doesn't bad men from women's sports, it actually says the male athlete must transition before puberty in order for him to compete with women. Soooo all this does is incentivize transing the children younger and younger

To avoid getting confused with all these LGBT pronouns, we need to have a common ground. Since they accepted that they are biologically male and biological female, so it wouldn't be offensive to call them as "biologically male person (BMP) or biology female person (BFP)" as in like in a conversation, "good morning, biologically male person! or Hi, BFP!" Also, we need to change the bathroom sign as either biologically male bathroom or biologically female bathroom. If LGBT don't agree with this. I wonder whether this big, tall, and unmistakably male swimmer pushed this issue over the edge so that a major sporting body finally made a sane decision. I see that young man walking around in a women's swimsuit, and who could possibly be fooled? A large number of the female teammates made an awful lot of noise (thankfully!). This decision isn't perfect since it could spur some boys to start hormone blockers earlier, but this is a huge first step in the right direction. The sport of swimming (and other sports) could tighten the rule later to exclude all biological males, if there is a rash of boys who begin transitioning before age 12 and then come streaming into women's sports. (I'm wondering whether women's cycling may be the next battleground, since biological female cyclists are also becoming quite vocal.)
This is just an excuse to start puberty blockers at earlier and earlier ages.

If someone feels a child is being "encouraged" or "forced" to transition before their 12 years old in order to compete in women's athletics then you have to question the actual reason why are they transitioning.

In many countries, there is a code of ethics that prevents patients from being able to proceed with transitioning. Hormone therapy is not possible and certainly surgery is not possible. Parents or children can do what they wish, but Social Media doesn't make this very clear. There are so-called gatekeepers who follow a code of ethics. But, yes... I see what you're referring to. This encouragement is where the controversy is, because parenting looks different for everybody. Parents always criticize other parents for lots of things.

There's also a reason for leagues that have varying skill levels. Trans swimmers aren't the only ones that do this. I have a friend that's a cyclist and he tells me that more and more pro-cyclists enter local amateur races to kick the crap out of everybody and clean up on the prizes. Yay, feel like a winner and get a bunch of free stuff! It's enough of a problem that a lot of local races now require you to show an ID and utility bill with a local address to enter these races so that these ringers don't come in and ruin it for everybody.
