  • As a pro, I often come across young fans who would like to receive a souvenir golf ball. In my opinion, there's definitely a proper way to go about getting one and when a fan does go about it the right way, it makes myself, and most other pros, keen to oblige.
So for my young fans, this one is for you- here's a few key tips to keep in mind if you want to increase your chances of receiving a golf ball from a pro.

Paddy, I was watching you hit range balls after your round during a PGA tourney. I was with two of my kids and we were just there to watch you. We were not expecting autographs but you came over to us and offered to sign our flags. The official nearby told us it was not the time or place to obtain autographs. You told him to go away and you signed our flags. We have never forgotten your kindness and you have remained at the top of our list of favorite golfers. We also really love all your instruction videos! Thanks again!

Paddy, your honesty tells a lot about the professional golfer that you are, you’re a gentleman who follows the history of the game and holds the high standards that the the game of golf deserves. Thank you

We used to live at a TPC course. One year, Sergio and his family rented the house next to ours. We had a soccer game, Sergio’s dad gave me chipping lessons. Sergio’s GF took our golden retriever out in the course to follow Sergio. It was awesome! Great family!!

Remember watching you on the practice range in carton House at the irish open as a child in the early 00s. Bob torrance was there with you, I was in awe, two legends of the game. Would have loved a souvenir

Great tips Paddy. I love seeing the pros giving the kids a second of your time on the course. The kids look up to you guys soo much. It goes a long way just to say hi or even a high five. They love it. I’ll never forget shaking the hand of the gold medal winner at the 76 Olympics in Montreal. That’ll stay with me forever. Cheers !

When I was a kid, if you were with an adult who didn't want to walk around all that much and just wanted to sit at a hole, I found hole 9 to have much better odds than hole 18. I got 2-3 golf balls, as did my brother and he even got a golf glove when the pro switched to a new one for the back 9.

Paddy practices what he preaches. Also, the best time to be gifted balls or autographs are at the driving range. Top players usually are at the practice area after their rounds - Back in the early-mid 2000’s, I’d often see Paddy, Tiger and Vijay at the range after their rounds at the Target World Challenge tournament in LA area. At this tournament in 2004, I watched Tiger and Paddy hit range balls for hours after their round and there were about 10 spectators until Tiger left. My GF and I remained and were the only ones watching Paddy while he continued on the range for another hour.
As he was about to leave, he was about to carry his golf bag back to the clubhouse. I chimed in, “Padraig, I’ll be your caddy and carry your bag.” Surprisingly he said ok lol I carried it about 300 yards to the clubhouse and he hooked me up with signed balls and also signed the Wilson Staff golf glove he was using during practice…and he came off as just a regular good dude.
I wasn’t a kid, I was about 28 at the time but this experience turned Paddy into my favorite golfer ever since. Then soon after, he won PGA events in 2005 and went on an incredible Major run. Now, here I am today at 45 living in LA watching Paddy on TH-cam as he’s still my favorite golfer. Lol
I still have everything he autographed and I also have video footage of him and Tiger on the range and during their practice round from 2004. I snuck in a small camcorder and I was the only one filming since it was before iPhones. I will post it on TH-cam one day! Cheers!
    **cool story bro**

Great video topic. An older machinist I worked with attended a tournament when he was a kid here in Pennsylvania. He acquired the autographs of Nicklaus, Palmer, Nelson, along with most of the other big names. He tried to get Ben Hogan. Asked politely, calling him Mr. Hogan. Ben turned him down because he was in the middle of an intense range session and told him to come back later. He never made it back to get Hogan's autograph, but from what I've read before this was fairly common for Mr. Hogan. The tournament program he had with all the autographs was fantastic to see in person.

Great vlog as always!! On a different note, did you play the Fybrid woods back in the day or were they more for handicappers? Only Reason I ask is I just bought the Fybrid 5 wood for a tenner and absolutely love it!

As always Padraig, a great video, promoting the game as a gentleman. Here’s a question…
How many sleeves of balls does Ronan put in the bag before the round, and on average how many do you through on a competition round? As a Wilson ambassador (freebie balls) could Ronan carry a few extra balls to hand out.

Hi Mr Harrington, I’m your biggest fan, you’ve hit so many amazing shots, I’ve seen you hit a 3 wood out of a bunker in competition to the green. A souvenir golf ball from a 3 times major champ would take pride of place on my mantle piece in my house ! Regard Stephen age 51 and a half . You’d have to post it, can DM my eircode
