My man here across the pond in the USA has all the tools and his grubby little fingers on the nicest of nicest bikes 😂😂.... On a serious note though, I said a few weeks back that your simple no-nonsense "cheapest because it's what you got" approach - inspired me to work on my bike that's been rotting in my yard for the last 18 months whilst I played with the Reliant Robin... Well *update* - the Deauville 650 turned out, due to an unfortunate tarping situation to be full of water, siezed with gunked up carbs.... WD40 soaked cylinders got them free (it's what I had) carbs soaked in white vinegar for 4hrs and blasted with a can of (cheapest) carb cleaner and a blast from the compressor and "knackered" gel battery charged via the passenger seat of the Robin for 2 30min journeys - managed to start and run, with herding cats effort, for about 30 seconds today before dying... But tomorrow's another day 😈😈 This isn't the best or greatest bike I've ever had BUT it's the first my kids went on, the first my partner went on, a survivor of a muppet in a car U-turning into it, a survivor of drops from front brake lock ups on gravel at the traffic lights... A bike I bought back off the insurance company for £100 after the 30mph U-turn incident and stripped the fairing off and ran for a further 3000 miles... So yeah, I'm loathed to spend on it... But Motorcycle Rewind somehow re-inspired me back into my usual "bodge it and scarper {but properly}" repairs using the "what you've got" and "because it's the cheapest" method AND I'd recommend the same to anyone mechanically driven... Thank you MC Rewind... And PLEASE don't give up on spreading your joy and your word!!! {or Howard's word as it might be 😉}
This is the best comment ever. One of the main reasons why I started the channel was to tell stories of my late friend/mentor Howard. To have you, someone who has never met him mention his name means he lives on. Mission Accomplished.
