Been watching this series avidly as I have a '67 Bomber. Mine was a beautiful original condition ( I've seen the old photos of it) until the previous owner passed away, then was left in a damp out building for 10 years. I'm in the process of bringing her back and using some of the products and guidance I see in your videos, so thank you. I hope you do more BB's 🙂
New subscriber here. My late Father bought a `66 CB450 Bomber in the early 70`s. He kept it up until his passing in 2007. My brother had me paint it, then sold it soon after. Never gave me a chance to buy it. Fast forward, a local Motorcycle shop owner found me on fb from an expired reg. under the seat. He had cleaned up the bike to be auctioned off in Vegas in Jan 2025. He gave me first dibs to buy it. I bought it on July 4th of this year! It`s got issues but it`s all mine!! Of all your vids i`ve watched so far, this is my favorite!!
You did a great job on that Bike. I learned a lot from this video. I purchased a 1983 XS650 and I've been wondering how to clean up the chrome rims and the spolks. Maybe the stuff you used on this bike's rims might work. Thanks for an entertaining and instructional video.
I’m glad you liked it! I hope it helps with your project. I also like to use a brass brush on the chrome. BTW the XS650 is my favorite platform. Thanks for watching.
That bike came out looking so sharp! It looks great and it’s still a rider to be used on the road. I think the rider/driver condition is often under appreciated in older motor vehicles these days. Great job!
What a sweet bike. I've always wanted to ride one of those Black Bombers. I don't have time to watch this entire video right now so I had to skip to the end for the ride... but I'll come back and watch the rest of it at a later time.
Beautiful bike, I'd leave it as it is with the replacement engine. I think if the owner restores the original engine and swaps it back he will forever be trying to find that missing fifth gear! Great video well done.
Nice job, love the old 450s. Like you/ I remove and either tag or bag all the components, I have a terrible memory, so I find my way easier in the end. I also take pics of any complicated components before I disassemble. The last Honda I did was a CB 500/4. Cheers from AUS 🦘🇦🇺
You've turned an old rust-bucket into what looks like a loved but used sixty year old bike. I'm considering project involving a 1978 bike in the near future and this video has given me plenty to think about. Not least, what do I actually want to achieve? Ta!
Honda needs to make a reprise version of this model. What a beautiful build and motorcycle. The new reprise bomber will be permitted to have disk brakes, actual suspension, and modern tires!!!!
Eric you like your bikes like I do. I own 2 Suzuki GT750, 3 Puch 1967 250cc, 1980 Suzuki GT850, 1978 CB750A, 1994 HD Electra Glide. Everyone is a rider surviver. And that's the way I like em. If they got a little oil leak. That OK 👍 just add some.
Back in HS the CB450 was the bike to have. When I was a junior Honda came out with the CB750. We all thought you had to be a harry chested beast to ride one. Move forward four years and I found myself in the US Navy stationed in the Philippians. Still wanting a CB450, the Navy Exchange sold new Honda motorcycles and I had enough money to by one. Much to my disappointment the CB450 had been discontinued and replaced with the CB500T. That bike just didn't do it for me. So I settled for a new red CB360T. I had a Filipino friend who's family had a Black Bomber. He loved the prestige of riding my new 360 and I relished riding his Bomber. Jump forward from 1975 to 2010 and I bought a clapped out '72 CB450 K5. I did a full bare metal restoration complete with a new engine. Now at 71 years old I have a awesome 450 to go along with my '05 GL1800 and '81 GL1100. Love that 450, it will be the last bike I own.
That’s awesome. Such a great story. I also have a CB450 K1 which I like better than the Bomber. Just my opinion! th-cam.com/video/5BtSKOzXQoU/w-d-xo.htmlsi=0vETYMVuU-evU5Gp
When hammering out a dent it's helpfull to have a bag of lead shot or sand to rest the object on that will help prevent protruding on the outside. If you want to finish the surface you can use a file to remove high spots, keeping in mind the metal thickness. I'm a body man from back in the day metal work was done.
Ein schönes Ergebnis was du erreicht hast, sehr gute Arbeit. Ich denke du hast bestimmt ca. 500 Stunden Arbeitszeit benötigt. Beste Grüße aus Deutschland. Fahren Sie vorsichtig und genießen es.
What a sweet resto! Glad you did not paint the fenders and side covers cause the patina look is so cool. Questions: Did you replace the wheel bearings and fork oil. Did you balance the tires with glass beads? Thanks for sharing the whole resto! PS She sounds SOOOO GOOD!!
When penning the dent out of a fender"Hit it on a sand bag" (Full of Sand) Da! lol! Had a Yamaha RD 400 " hand sanded all aluminum covers on engine ,then polish with Mothers Aluminum mag polish! Only original once!! But should be niece rider!
I found a rust remover that's as good as Evapo Rust it's called Esprit Performer. It's a quart of concentrate that will make 4 gal. I've 2 rusted tanks with it so far and it's reusable. How's the Cushman coming along along?
Hello Eric, first time that I have seen your channel and enjoyed it, well most of it. Two points that stood out to me is that the throttle should have been checked it was working before starting, would have started allot easier, second,, refurb and not restore, good but putting another motor in is a sin, that original motor deserved being done as it is only original once and by the looks of that motor with the heads and barrels off it didn't look that bad, another motor, false economy. You know as well as I do, that motor will never be put back in where it belongs. So my opinion is, well done.
PS one suggestion if I may, when you have the camera in your hand, it moves in and out anda round too quickly at times and just about gives me motion sickness 😬, just something to watch. I hope the owner does a full resto on it once he has ridden it and had a bit of fun
@ But, I just booked a Classic 350, 👉🤡paid monthly 2500 baht ( $ 70) for 60 months. That is the only old fashioned bike I can afford here in Thailand👀 envy you can ride a so beautiful Honda
Your Grand-Kid is so cute! My first time seeing the Honda "Black Bomber" they were known for a "High Revving Twin Cyl" 305 cc Right? I Had a CB 500 T, P****of S**T Never again, NO,No,NO!! ☹🤮🙃😀👌👍✌🐢🏍

Nice job on what I, and others, call a rustoration.
I agree it’s a pretty rider not a restoration. Thanks for watching.
Neverdull is magic when you're fighting rust and really need something to shine
Neverdull. Looking it uo now! Thanks for the tip and thanks for watching!
Great tip! I got some Wizards Metal Polish and I think it does the same thing. But Neverdull is cheaper. 🤙
That bike looks fantastic!
Really came out good! Thanks for watching!
That bike came out looking so sharp! It looks great and it’s still a rider to be used on the road. I think the rider/driver condition is often under appreciated in older motor vehicles these days. Great job!

I agree. 5 speed is gonna make it so much better. And no more hope shifts. Where you know it’s a 4 speed, in 4th and you still try for 5th.
WOW, what a transformation you have achieved Eric, the bike looks incredible now.
I think so too! Thanks for watching.
Fab video, shows what you can do with knowledge, time and patience, v.nice i bet your mate loves it
It was loads of fun. Thanks for watching.
eric, as always fun watching.
Thanks so much for watching.
Back when bikes had class. That and a Superhawk are on my list.
Agreed. Both are such cool bikes. Besides I am a sucker for chrome side covers.

I disagree. If the brakes are done right and you ride it properly the drum brakes are plenty functional. Newer is not necessarily better.

I used to use SOS Brillo pads dipped in water to take off rust on the rims, makes 'em look like Brand New !
Gonna have to go get some Brillo pads. Thanks for watching!
Great job!

It’s a runner. Keep it as is. I think it looks great.

I would paint the fenders and side covers, but that’s just me 😁
Awesome.
Yeah. Me too. This bike deserves that kinda love.
Awsome
Fun project.
I need to go find one of these locally and work on it. One that isn’t 5 - 7k already 😂
I agree. They are hard to find at any price.

That is the rubber oring that goes between cam chain and the sprocket gear for chain. It's used to quiet the cam chain.
There are 2 o-rings
That’s where it goes.

Yes! My favorite part
Yes she did and I’m ok with it. ❤️
Yes paint fenders wont take long will look new.

That’s a great idea. I get my wife to come out and help when I can. Most of the time I alone.
How about fresh fork oil?
Some folks want to paint but a good wipe down with some good products makes a world of difference.
I agree. Fork oil and new bearings are on the list.
Yes. Man have many rustremover but i think Sand lasting is best
Sand blasting is the best. Especially when you are taking it completely apart. Thanks for watching
Good work. Did you change wheel bearings and front fork oil?
No to wheel bearing and fork oil. Have to leave something for my friend to do.

Saving the engine to restore if he decides to.

Yes they were. Thanks for watching.
You got lucky putting the pipe wrench on that gear, next time wrap a thick rag around it first
Rag is a good idea. Thanks for watching.
I would paint them to keep them from rusting again.
Good point. Thanks for watching.
Instead of painting a person could just spray a clear coat to keep the patina. 👍
Great idea! Thanks for watching.
Honda should bring this back, better than GB350 , and much better than royal enfield

Where did you find the OEM seat? Is it a '65 or a '67? I heard it called both in the video.
It’s a 65. I get mixed up every now and then. The seat is a reproduction I found on eBay.
This is a beautful design.I remember in 1969 seeing one of these dumped on a roundabout in London .It was bashed up and rusty .What a waste .
