- After driving m 2003 Corvette Z06 cross-country on Route 66 and then back to Florida, I give my review of the car.
Some things about the car are absolutely fantastic. Others, not so good. A couple of things are downright annoying for a cross-country touring machine.
But there's no doubting the performance and overall panache of the C5 Z06. But is it just a sports car? Is it a good cross-country machine? Watch the review and get the nitty-gritty details!
I have a 2003 Z06. Original owner. I still get into it with a huge smile! I have owned multiple Corvettes, but this is the one I will keep to the day I die. I have updated with a Double Din with Apple Car Play and all the latest with Bluetooth, rear camera, HD Radio. Thanks for posting!
Great cars just supercharged mine 650whp, she's a beast
good review, I have a 2002 Z06 I have actually added sound dampening insulation over the centre of the car. it has greatly reduced the heat generated into the cabin.
I suspect the sound dampening over the tunnel would help a lot with road noise. I did the rear "trunk" area and that cut down a lot of noise. Surprisingly, a lot came through the tunnel. But still fun to drive!
Best car ever made
What a great adventure, driving a Vette down Route 66. God bless America!
Cut the music. It adds nothing. Only distraction.
Great video, I own a 2002 zo6 and I agree it’s a great sports/tourer car
did you say maps?
Based on this review I would NOT recommend people buy a C5 Z06 especially yellow one 😁
So prices may drop little bit 😉
They’ve dropped a lot since I bought one during the price peak few months ago. Definitely a good time to buy if you have cash
I would say it depends on what you're looking for. As a daily driver and long distance tourer, the Z06 isn't the best choice. As a track beast and short trip fun machine, pretty incredible.
Pops review was great. But cmon. This car is meant to be driven hard. Not cruise in it. Personally I’ve owned a c6z06 and c5z06. Both great cars for the price and smiles it will bring. A lot better then spending $200-300k on a car you worry about where you can park it.
It is meant to be driven hard, and it does that well. I might have been better off doing Route 66 in a standard C5, but I couldn't resist getting the Z06.
Thoughts on a c5 that’s not a z06 and with an automatic?
Well, I don't like automatics for my sports cars, I like to choose the gears in my cars, especially sports cars. I think the C5 is the nicest looking Vette, love the curves and body style. The standard version is probably more refined - but that's relative! Sound is probably less annoying and a little smoother overall. Ride height is probably higher, I hit a lot of entry ramps with the front spoiler, especially in LA. Fortunately the front spoiler is spring loaded so it doesn't get ripped off easily. If you want all-out performance, the Z06 is the way to go. If you're looking for a more enjoyable driver, get the standard version.
Got to have the manual. That when this car or any car for that matter really shines. It’s a shame the C8 does not have a manual option. Progress I guess….
Do you think replacing the weather-stripping around the window areas would cut down on the wind noise? Could the vibration be from ball joints. tie-rod end, bushings needing to be replaced?
The road noise seems to be coming from the tunnel. I agree, it's got a great torque curve and goes like mad! And a LOT of fun for short jaunts.
Should have bought a C6
Zo6 c5 is better than a c6
@@ah4800 have to agree. lighter...... significantly cheaper.......
@xtop23 just cooler. Nothing special about a base c6. 05-07 c6s are about the same price as a 03 z06 where i am.
