    Hey Titan ! How you choose your spindle speed limits when machining ? You just go with SFM and machine limits or you limit the spindle max speed ? If so, how you choose the limit with a random part ? Thanks !

      Mori Seiki should be at the very top, come with high price tag but built like a tank and hold 2 micron tolerance daily basis.
      DMG Mori is one tier lower than Mori Seiki, and perform similar to Doosan, Okuma, Nakamura-Tome, Matsura, Mazak, Hyundai, Samsung/SE.

    We run parts that need a 16 micro finish. Easy with the right insert and good steel. Have to polish almost every part cause our buyers get the cheapest shit they can find. It's called "strategic procurement".

      Lucas, try this for POM: for roughing od's 0.3 mm/rev feed, 3000some rpms, depth of cut as much as your insert will take. leave a mm for finishing with 0.1 mm/rev for a decent 3.2 ra. no stringy chips, no worrys.

    Surface finish is governed by the drawing specification. There is no point in trying for 10 micro finish if the spec is for 63? Most manufacturing today is specked using SPC. So all parameters especially tight tolerances should be specked using SPC.

    honestly I'm not impressed. Show me the tolerances and surface Ra and Rz

    • @johnkeefe20
      @johnkeefe20 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Right on. These are the critical specs that a machine shop needs to work to. I know we are showing the process, but no coolant? Surface finish is a function, in a geometric sense, of feed and nose radius. Many, many other factors then come into play like material type, hardness, and machine construction. If we ran 5 different materials with the same process parameters they would all have different measured surface roughness. Also, do any of the machines have an ultra-rigid headstock? If I needed to get an awesome finish my manufacturing process would include in-process burnishing.
