It’s films like this that prove that animation is more than just entertainment for children. From the mature themes, relatable story, and memorably emotional moments, this movie is without a doubt one of the best films I have ever seen! Every time I watch it, it only grows better on repeat viewings. Without a doubt, this film is a masterpiece, and I can’t deny it shaped my childhood.

I think Simba is the best Disney Character out there because of his arch.
He goes from wanting the throne, to feeling guilty thinking his ambition killed his father, to live without responsibility and finally to take responsibility and face the past.

There's just not another movie quite The Lion King for me. I always forget just how good it is until I watch it again, almost as though I've convinced myself since the last time that it's just not possible for a movie to be so close to perfect. This video captures everything I love about this story and even made me realize some things I didn't know I loved about it. Great job, as always.

THIS is my cornerstone movie, and for the longest time, I never could explain why: The Lion King was and still is magical to me, and your video summed up my feelings perfectly. Behind the wacky characters, stellar soundtrack and beautiful backdrop, it's a story about a child dealing with the loss of their parent and learning how to grow up, and loss and life in general. I will always come back to it no matter how old I get (:

I was just sitting waiting for my sister to go outside and I stumbled upon this video, didn't think I'd watch it to the end but I just couldn't stop and by the end I could not hold back the tears and then my sister showed up, saw me and asked "what's wrong?". I couldn't say anything so I just came up and hugged her like I never have. Don't ever wanna think that she'll be gone someday, like mom and dad, but thats the reality (The Circle of Life) and the only thing to do is accept it and cherish every moment you still have with the people you love. Thank you for this video, didn't think I would get so emotional today, but it was something I definitely needed! ♥️

I was also quite young when I first watched The Lion King. Probably really helpful since my first major loss was my paternal grandfather when I was 4/5. I watched my VHS so often I wore the tape out and I can actually quote a good chunk of it!
We recently lost a family friend and that reminder that the world moves on without us hit me hard when I was back at work. It's retail and to see so many people just going about and getting groceries felt so wrong knowing he was gone. But you're right, this movie is a cornerstone to preparing a huge generation for life.

Wow. I have so much emotional attachment to this movie, every scene evokes so much strong emotion in me probably more than any other movie in existence. But this is the first time I've heard someone actually voice my internal thoughts and feelings about the movie in such a beautiful way, you've explained exactly why the film is so special to me. Thank you so much.
The most emotional scene for me besides Mufasa's death (which never fails to make me cry) is when Simba walks up Pride Rock and Hans Zimmer's score plays. That scene always gives me goosebumps, it says so much without saying anything at all. It represents Simba accepting who he is and taking his rightful place after his father after all the time has past and overcoming his internal struggles, and it also shows the respect and loyalty of all the other character's faces as they watch their true king ascend to the throne (literally). The score and animation is so perfect at evoking the right emotions in you to make you feel the weight of the scene. So beautiful.

I think a major reason it resonates so deeply on a soul level with most is because many of us are rife with anxiety, carry guilt around that isn't ours and consequently run from our power just as Simba did for much of his youth.

Wow wow wow! This video seriously made me emotional. Especially the latter half this video had me tearing up and with this heavy emotion in my chest. I don't think I've ever watched a TH-cam video so eloquently, concisely, and lovingly explain what makes The Lion King so so special like this one. From the animation, to the music, to the themes, life lessons and more you just explain it all with so much heart and I loved it. I, like a lot of people am a huge huge fan of TLK to the point where I immediately put my weight behind any new TLK projects that pop up within the canon (like any of the sequel series or movies and the 2019 remake). I grew up with it and it means the world to me and I love how you were able to explain how so many people are able to have such similar, emotional experiences with the same movie. The universality of the movie this movie is extremely special and you explained it perfectly . So thank you! (From a Lion King fan)

    loved the video, bailey!
have always loved the lion king but find it so hard to watch as mufasa’s death and the subsequent scene of simba finding him is one of the saddest scenes in a film i think i’ve ever seen - so so confronting, and even as an animated death, it really hits you.
this video has made me want to go and watch it again right away bc i’ve been reminded of how goddamn beautiful it is. (also be prepared is a masterpiece)

You did a great job of capturing the raw emotions I felt as a small child watching the movie even if I didn't understand everything. It seems everyone else felt that way too! I wonder if the people who worked on it knew their art would successfully strike such a deep chord with children, not just distract and entertain them.
But man... I should've seen it coming, but I didn't expect you to make that sharp serious turn there. I just dropped my whole life to go and live with my mom after I found out that she has terminal cancer. This hit double hard. I guess it's time to watch The Lion King again soon.

I'm so sorry to hear that about your mom. I really am.
My grandma passed from terminal cancer last year and this was her favorite movie, so I kind of put a lot of those feelings I had into this.

@@LoverboyMedia Thank you, Bailey. I'm sorry to hear that about your grandma. I noticed that picture of her in the video. She sounds like she must have been a very cool lady! I'm sure she appreciated having great people in her life looking out for her, like you.

This is a perfect movie. Perfect casting, acting, instrumental songs, classic Disney songs, wonderful story that is super deep, funny, good for children, memorable, beautiful animation. It has so much symbolism and is a movie beyond so math movies live action lion king was bound to fail because it could not live up unless it was a factory the same as original or worse.
