They changed it later to erratic. I get that The Sims series isn't supposed to be overly serious in tone though and is a little sarcastic, so it would be difficult to integrate serious stuff into it for that reason. You can put a cash register or something else that needs a NPC, I remember it worked for me. You may also try to change the lot type to community (with cheats).
It would be interesting to see if it still shows up as an owned business, but I'm assuming it wouldn't recognise that and it will need to be a normal lot to show up.

Could it be possible to have ghosts appear on the CAS lot? Or do you think they’ll probably disappear like the other types of sims you tested? Also the noise at around 32:55 was probably the cowplant. At least that’s what it sounded like to me.
I was wondering about that while creating the video. I think it could potentially be possible if I save the CAS lot at night time, maybe just before the ghosts come out, or if I save with them as ghosts. I think ghosts are still recognised as Sims though and have most of their data attached to the gravestone, so it's possible they'll function the same way and not show up. Ah I did remove the cowplant later, but I can't remember when I did that but it probably is that then.
To avoid game corruption, there are a few files that you can change in the game. Basically, you change it to Read-Only, and the game can no longer overwrite those files when something game-corrupting (*cough cough, Mrs. Crumplebottom getting bitten cough*) happens. I can't remember which files it is, but it should be pretty easy to google. I found it a few years ago, I think it's only one or two that need the change. Have I ever tested it? Oh, no. No lol. I'm too lazy. But it does make me feel a bit safer when playing TS2 lol.
Oh I did do that with all the object package files before messing about in CAS (I can't remember the exact files either just followed instructions from the sims wiki,) I wasn't sure if it 100% prevents game corruption or not though.
i have a cas replacement I downloaded a while ago thats designed like a store and has an npc cashier. he's really quite annoying cos when you complete one Sim he moves to the photo booth area and seems to be stuck there as he complains he cant move the rest of the time. could probably be killed by fire that way. I would try it but I dont want to corrupt my game lol. its got like a decade of saves on it. but im thinking they must've changed the cas lot to a community lot to make an npc cashier spawn when a register is placed.
yeah that's really interesting so they managed to get NPC's on to the lot hmm. I thought it wouldn't still work if you changed it to a community lot. I think that doing that causes neighbourhood corruption in occupied buildings, I was reading about changing lot zoning with apartments before. I don't think it causes game corruption but will have to check. The CAS lot object package can be easily replaced again with a backup (have to back it up first,) which should remove any corruption that could be tied to it or the game as a whole but neighbourhood effects may still apply. Doing stuff like this is risky though.
Oh that's interesting. I didn't end up trying much like that in the video after Grim appeared, I didn't want to interrupt him doing his thing the first time I guess lol.
@@CalipersandTongs Also I think that thing you saw under the map might have been a sim. It looked long and flat like a sim body lying down. Least I thought so. Still thanks for doing these btw, its fascinating what strange things still occur in these games.
You have to find it in the game files, copy it and add it to the neighbourhood lot catalogue of one of your neighbourhoods. There are a few guides to do this floating around, I can't find the one I followed now but just found this one on modthesims which includes screenshots: modthesims.info/t/180469 I didn't use any game starter since I wanted strays to be on the lot + didn't mind the other weird seasons effects, but it you want to create a normal CAS screen you have to use that.
I haven't played much normally since messing around in CAS so can't really say lol, but it seems relatively playable. I mean the game still loads at least lol.
(comes back a day later with a video idea) I'm curious how broken breeding with broken skins actually is. People *say* you should always fix every Sim with a custom skin you've deleted in SimPE before breeding them, but what actually happens if you just breed them while their data shows a skin that no longer exists? Mannequin skin? Random skin? The infamous white-skin-with-code-on-it? I also found, related to vampires, some sort of problem where fangs can be tied to skins. This thread was certainly interesting: modthesims.info/archive/index.php/t-556190.html
Oh that's an interesting idea. I might try that later. I was planning on doing a video on something vaguely related at some point, so could include that as well. Also that fang glitch is interesting. I think they probably did download a default replacement for the vampire skin that still keeps the fangs.
@@CalipersandTongs No, it was just a custom skin with odd teeth! People have reported other weird issues with skins having funky teeth, though I can't remember where I found the last one. Would probably be hard to find distinctly messed-up skins, though @__@
I googled it before and apparently the penguin can show up during any season but it's much rarer when it's not snowing or you don't have lots of fish on the lot.
Oh I always forget they exist lol, and I think I thought they were universal Sims but they're not same with the social bunnies and social workers as well they seem like they'd be universal Sims but they're not.
I did do that temporarily actually in the alien CAS video, but I can't remember now if I changed it back before moving it or not. If I did then I don't think it had much of an impact. That was in the uni subhood too so there were some other weird things happening when I moved it from there like the CAS Sim being told that they had class soon.
Hmm I'm not sure I think that's just for certain controlled object movements. I once downloaded a mod though (well I still have it because I have all my old downloads, but I downloaded it over a decade ago,) that adds a potion to the game that allows Sims to fly and I noticed through boolprop that there's an NPC SimMacFly there, so some mods do add invisible NPC's like that: modthesims.info/download.php?t=169139 I'll have to look later to see if there's an NPC that shows up.
I think the CAS sims might not because I'm not sure their motives decline like normal Sims (or that they have motives at that stage,) and they also seem to freeze weirdly quickly compared to normal gameplay even when it's summer time on the lot, but it might be possible to get snow in there and things like that.
Like at the beginning? Some of it might be the custom content (I've downloaded a lot and used it in my intros,) also I use reShade: reshade.me/ which is a third party program that you can use with various games to make it look different which is good for cinematics and stuff like this (but it slows down the game, so often not great for regular gameplay unless the presets are optimised for that.) I think the preset I'm using in this video is sandstorm by Wanderlust: wanderlustonline.tumblr.com/post/162427355205/reshade-preset-download-for-reshade-30 There are a bunch of videos about reShade and how to install it for The Sims 4 on TH-cam. You can also use it for The Sims 2, and I assume The Sims 3, but haven't tried that yet. Herbalwhite on tumblr made The Sims 2 look kind of like Skyrim by messing around with the lighting and using re-shade: herbalwhite.tumblr.com/post/622267583554633728/the-sims-2-realistic-forest-lighting Also some other great stuff that looks really cool: herbalwhite.tumblr.com/post/625361126587351040/the-sims-2-reshade-snow-walled-off-zone-in herbalwhite.tumblr.com/post/624000247431036928/the-sims-2-reshade-nightcity-yep-this-is-all You can get some pretty impressive results with it for photoshoots/cinematic stuff.
Hey Calipers and Tongs, me and MONI were talking in Discord and I was wondering if you wanted to make a corruption collaboration video? I could send you the server or I could give you my email so we could all set it up. 💙
That could be interesting, though I've never done anything like that before so kind of anxious :P I'm planning on working on an Easter themed video next because there's a crazy bunny cryptid hunter guy in my neighbourhood and I thought this was a good time to talk about him and some other things, but could work on it after that or at the same time depending on what you all have in mind. I could join the server if you are discussing it there.
Oh no lol, that's a side effect of editing the CAS lot with seasons installed for some reason. That's why when you make custom CAS screens for normal use, you need to use a mod called anygamestarter to stop seasons running when you set it up, also pets because otherwise strays might wander onto the lot. I didn't do that in the video though since it just adds to the chaos lol. The really weird thing is that they freeze pretty much straight away, and even though the weather is fine.
I didn't upload it anywhere because when I was making it I didn't really know what I was doing and it replaced the original pet dish instead of working as a separate object, it's also very powerful lol (at least in the autonomous death form.) I didn't think anyone would want to download it though lol.
@@CalipersandTongs I like to purge my neighboorhoods from pre made "beings". Most sims can be killed with fire, but I have to use cheats to deal with pets, and therefore, there are still a bunch of pre-made strays roaming around.
Best way to stop corruption with "Objects" is to make them Read-Only, or for better protection, mark it as a system file so that even the game files can't modify it
Yeah that would be interesting. I may go back to this topic again later, I have some other videos I'm planning/working on for now but I do want to make one on the Uni Create a Sim screen later since you can edit that lot too.

I love your vids, also congarts on 1k subs girl!
Oh I did do that with all the object package files before messing about in CAS (I can't remember the exact files either just followed instructions from the sims wiki,) I wasn't sure if it 100% prevents game corruption or not though.
when you play sims 2 on drugs
i have a cas replacement I downloaded a while ago thats designed like a store and has an npc cashier. he's really quite annoying cos when you complete one Sim he moves to the photo booth area and seems to be stuck there as he complains he cant move the rest of the time. could probably be killed by fire that way.
I would love to see u try other sims corruptions!😊
Now I'm curious if the CAS sim will react to the death like how normal sims do lol
I actually did want to try corrupying me game for fun, but although, I know not saving the game may stop the corruption...I'm afraid to
I think he might want to make a zombie 🤔
thank you for destroying your game for this video it;s amazing
How did you place a Create-A-Sim lot?
You have to find it in the game files, copy it and add it to the neighbourhood lot catalogue of one of your neighbourhoods. There are a few guides to do this floating around, I can't find the one I followed now but just found this one on modthesims which includes screenshots:
modthesims.info/t/180469
I didn't use any game starter since I wanted strays to be on the lot + didn't mind the other weird seasons effects, but it you want to create a normal CAS screen you have to use that.
@@CalipersandTongs Thanks!
We need to send this to Call Me Kevin so he gets ideas 😈
The scariest part for me is how corrupted game becomes when you are messing with it 😅
I still sometimes have a weird feeling when I play normally in CAS now lol.
Your game works after that all? :D
I forgot I had a youtube video open and I grabbed my phone and saw this 31:04
Love your videos 👏🏽
from what i know pengiun that shows not during winter means corruption but I might be wrong
I googled it before and apparently the penguin can show up during any season but it's much rarer when it's not snowing or you don't have lots of fish on the lot.
Add human statue Sims to Cass and see if they show up lol
Oh I always forget they exist lol, and I think I thought they were universal Sims but they're not same with the social bunnies and social workers as well they seem like they'd be universal Sims but they're not.
So the literal object sims are not literal objects?
@@CalipersandTongs right me too lol but you have to give it a try I believe they are like objects so maybe it will work fingers crossed lol
@@Human-hs8sp I'm not sure but I believe they are objects ? or it just spawns them ?
@@Gabbydirectionsims I'll have a play around and find out.
what happens if you make cas lot a community lot
I did do that temporarily actually in the alien CAS video, but I can't remember now if I changed it back before moving it or not. If I did then I don't think it had much of an impact. That was in the uni subhood too so there were some other weird things happening when I moved it from there like the CAS Sim being told that they had class soon.
I wonder if there's an invisible scissors NPS generated, same as with a remote control car.
Hmm I'm not sure I think that's just for certain controlled object movements. I once downloaded a mod though (well I still have it because I have all my old downloads, but I downloaded it over a decade ago,) that adds a potion to the game that allows Sims to fly and I noticed through boolprop that there's an NPC SimMacFly there, so some mods do add invisible NPC's like that:
modthesims.info/download.php?t=169139
I'll have to look later to see if there's an NPC that shows up.
Maybe they would freeze to death if it was winter?
I think the CAS sims might not because I'm not sure their motives decline like normal Sims (or that they have motives at that stage,) and they also seem to freeze weirdly quickly compared to normal gameplay even when it's summer time on the lot, but it might be possible to get snow in there and things like that.
Wait ur sims 4 game looks like sims 3 graphics!! HOW
Like at the beginning? Some of it might be the custom content (I've downloaded a lot and used it in my intros,) also I use reShade: reshade.me/ which is a third party program that you can use with various games to make it look different which is good for cinematics and stuff like this (but it slows down the game, so often not great for regular gameplay unless the presets are optimised for that.) I think the preset I'm using in this video is sandstorm by Wanderlust: wanderlustonline.tumblr.com/post/162427355205/reshade-preset-download-for-reshade-30
There are a bunch of videos about reShade and how to install it for The Sims 4 on TH-cam. You can also use it for The Sims 2, and I assume The Sims 3, but haven't tried that yet. Herbalwhite on tumblr made The Sims 2 look kind of like Skyrim by messing around with the lighting and using re-shade:
herbalwhite.tumblr.com/post/622267583554633728/the-sims-2-realistic-forest-lighting
Also some other great stuff that looks really cool:

herbalwhite.tumblr.com/post/624000247431036928/the-sims-2-reshade-nightcity-yep-this-is-all
You can get some pretty impressive results with it for photoshoots/cinematic stuff.
@@CalipersandTongs Yess! Here add me on Discord and I will give you the server link
Do sims usually act like they are freezing in CAS?
Oh no lol, that's a side effect of editing the CAS lot with seasons installed for some reason. That's why when you make custom CAS screens for normal use, you need to use a mod called anygamestarter to stop seasons running when you set it up, also pets because otherwise strays might wander onto the lot. I didn't do that in the video though since it just adds to the chaos lol. The really weird thing is that they freeze pretty much straight away, and even though the weather is fine.
the real way to get a ghost in ts2 cas
Thx for this video
I wish the deadly dinner dish was downloadable.
I didn't upload it anywhere because when I was making it I didn't really know what I was doing and it replaced the original pet dish instead of working as a separate object, it's also very powerful lol (at least in the autonomous death form.) I didn't think anyone would want to download it though lol.
@@CalipersandTongs
I like to purge my neighboorhoods from pre made "beings". Most sims can be killed with fire, but I have to use cheats to deal with pets, and therefore, there are still a bunch of pre-made strays roaming around.
8:18 "GRWM in Hell :) "
genius!
Best way to stop corruption with "Objects" is to make them Read-Only, or for better protection, mark it as a system file so that even the game files can't modify it
Oh yeah I've done that now.
running with scissors has a death for females but if you get a male to run with scissors they will just stand still and die.
Oh I didn't know that, that's weird.
What I wanna know is if the CAS sims will grieve/react if the dog dies.
Yeah that would be interesting. I may go back to this topic again later, I have some other videos I'm planning/working on for now but I do want to make one on the Uni Create a Sim screen later since you can edit that lot too.
Congrats!
