  • The Dreamcast GDemu is a replacement for the GD disk drive. As the years go on the drives start to fail, the GDemu(lator) allows you to put your disk images onto an SD card, into the GDemu. as far as the system is concerned, you have put a game disk in.
    Here I show you how I installed the Dreamcast GDemu using 3D printed mounts. As well I show a little bit how to use the GDemu and how to set up the SD card and use GDmenu.
    A couple notes on using the card, instructions were not very clear when I looked them up; I think I showed it 'ok' in the video: each file placed on the SD card need to me in a numbered folder, i.e. '01' '02' '03' etc. '01' will automatically boot when turning on the system, so put the GDmenu file in '01'

    Here is the Thingiverse link for the 3D printed parts: www.thingivers...
    I'll add some Amazon Affiliate links to the parts used in this build, does not cost you anything to use these link but would help my channel, but as always, Amazon delivery is super fast, others are very slow, so if you can wait; its usually cheaper to buy on eBay or Aliexpress.

      It worked and printed beautifully! Great work!
      I did end up altering it to allow two slide switches, needed them for VGA on/off and the internal scan-line generator on/off.....I could not do this without your design tho, thank you very much!

    Just got this made up, what size screws did you use to secure the tray to the dreamcast and the sd card holder to the tray - having a hard time finding the right sizes - Thanks

    • @logicdb
      @logicdb  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      That was the tricky part for me as well, no where did I find a listing for these screws. I happen to have tons of screws from many years of working on game systems and electronics; the SD card part, I believe the screws I used were from a SNES controller, the tray is the AES one, very skinny and short, and a very wide head/use washers. I do wish I knew what the actual name/size of the screws were tho.
      I think the maker of the parts commented on the video, maybe reply to that comment?
      I will pin any comment that has the answer 👍

    It makes me wonder if anyone has just made a 3d replacement for the full opening lid then making the Dreamcast logo a flip up design with the SD card slot inside that

    This version does not have the base or insert that redirects the air to go thru the Dreamcast out thru to the fan to keep it from over heating and destroying the GDEMU.

    From within a Game Is Their a Controller Button Sequence Press Combination That Can Replicate The Little GDEMU Reset Back To EMU Menu Button Right From The Controller?
    Like My Modded XB Does Remotely without having to Run Up To the Console To Hit That Little Reset Return Back To Our GDEMU Button Every Time?
    If There Isn't ...There Should BE :-)

      Nikhchan's Gaming - all 4 face buttons + start, but you want to disable that option for multi-disc games, so the button will swap between the discs instead.

    • @logicdb
      @logicdb  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s true that people have tweaked the power supply by removing the 12v regulator (which powered the GDrom drive) but, that also runs the modem, which I intend to use with a raspberry Pi and DreamPi distro......

    • @lovelorn88nick

      I think this is only for Europeans that 'might' need to do this . I've been using mine for 2 weeks with zero issues. Yet people keep telling me I need to or itll overheat on me. Lol lol

    • @davidfairclough4458
      @davidfairclough4458 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can use 3 10kohm resistors in parallel over the 12v line, which I found still overheated and crashed during intensive games. I've just swapped out for a Dream PSU.
