NOTE: If you get the 3-D printed tray, it SHOULD be designed to move airflow over the 12v regulator on the power supply to cool it down from the lack of power load in the absence of the GDROM. HOWEVER, if you didn't get the tray, you might want to consider modding your power supply to reduce heat from the reduced load on the 12v regulator.

I love how you do your tutorials. You make it so easy to follow. You've been a great asset for my PS2 and Wii U mods.
an important thing you might want to add is to use SD card maker, it creates the folder structure automatically and it modifies the gdmenu so it eliminates the loading time when booting your Dreamcast, normally it can take up to 2-4 minutes to load everything each time you power up so having 0 waiting time is AWESOME!

Anyway to speed up gamelist loading (populating)? Im using clone GDEMU V5.20 with 256gb Samsung Evo Plus approximately 140 games using cdi and gdi files.
I got in line on 9.9.99. Love dc. Now all we need to do is make some wireless dc controller mods.
My birthday is 9/3 the DC is what I asked my parents for that year
I've had a GDEMU installed for about 6 months and love it. I still need to get me a GDEMU 3D Printer Tray though. Pulling that card out from down in the machine is a pain.

Crazy! Looking at the gdemu's and they're back up to around $112!! In this video posted 2 years ago they were around $40. Insane how the market fluctuates.

You can get a v15.5b for around 100 currently. Few months ago I saw them for 200 plus. Wish I bought one when they were 40.

Next you should do a Video on installing an SD2SP2 and xeno chip on a Gamecube. I just got done with it using a Nickdisk mini DVD from Ebay so I didn't need to tune the laser.

If you mean the 12v delete mod, yeah..that bothered me too that he skipped it
The low priced ones are the ones that come from China and will take at least several weeks if you choose the fastest shipping method or over a month if you choose standard shipping.

I'm using a GDEMU clone I believe. Specifically the "RetroScaler V5.15b GDEMU Optical Drive Simulation Board"
Will the GDmenu v0.6 for GDEMU link you refer to in the video work, or will this cause issues with my board?

How do you add a game with multiple disc's (shenmue is 4 disc)?
You'll put the files for each disc in numbered separate folders and the folders must be in order in the gdemu list. When it asks for next disc, press the button on the gdemu card itself. The dreamcast will reset launching the next folder (next game)in the list.
I think some multi disc games will automatically go to that next disc when you save between them.
What's the maximum number of games you can put in? How do you name the folders if you go over 100?

Hey Blaine, Have you ever experienced the GDEMU saying "UNSUPPORTED DISC / EMPTY FOLDER" For some reason every game i put on the SD card does this when the gdemu menu loads :(
This is the issue I'm having right now
i have been able to get my cdi and gdi games to register dropping everything manually into numbered folders. but only on gdi files does the reset work when trying to press abxy start to reset to gdemy menu. i haven't gotten it work work on cdi files. any suggestions or is that just how it is?

Okay, so I actually have two Dreamcasts, and the other is 1 NTSC. I took both apart and the optical assembly is completely different between them. I assume that 2 NTSC will not work, and that is because the optical drive is shaped differently. I hope this helps someone in the future.
Do you still need to use a memory card for game saves?
I do have a VA1 Dreamcast.

Everything worked except my games won't show up. They are gdi files. What site to you download you game from. I'm stumped. Should I try games in cdi?
Is this mod region free? Can you do it on NTSC and PAL systems as well? If yes which version number should you look for on an NTSC system?

Hello there i got today my gdemu 5.15b . My dreamcast is the v1 and its all ok .
But on my Screen i have no scart or component conections and i use an Adapter to hdmi vut Image its horrible its posible to repair that ?

You shouldn't need a solder tool for this mod. I have no idea what you purchased.

Any body ever deal with an overheating issue, while using the 3D printed tray? My kit came with 2 heat sinks but I cant install them on my GDEMU cause the plastic tray goes right over the GDEMU where they would sit. But I have a tray and the SD card extender thing, everything is nice and secure. But I did not modify my PSU or add a fan... Any issues?
Don't you have to rename all gdi files to disc?

Grabbing one on ebay for $86 from China as we speak..If you don't hear from me in a month when it gets here, ask me how it's going and I'll let you know. Looks like other stores are $120 and up right now. Retro hardware based emulation/revival is definitely peaking right now for some reason.

This unit is very instable stuff . Some times working, after totally error . Not reading the games, freezing ect.,,,

I love your content and have used your tutorials for DS, Wii, etc. and everything has worked flawlessly. I read today that the PS 4 can now be hacked all the way to Software version 7.5. Do you plan on doing a tutorial for this?

get a 3d printed tray from gregg collin at laser bear its a better tray and routes the cooling better he also sells fan upgrade and take the 12v regulator out of system
Anyone having trouble with the gdemu causing no video signal to be sent out of the dreamcast. I confirmed that I have a VA1 motherboard, i cleaned all the pins on the power supply and drive port. I verified that the gdemu gets 3.4 volts with my voltmeter. When I use the original GDrom drive, the dreamcast boots fine. The gdemu, blinks once at start up which is supposed to be normal, but then no video. When i put a bad sd card in the slot, the led stays on which is also normal. So I believe the gdemu is booting and checking the sd card has valid files. I have tried 2 gdemus and get the same result. I'm almost ready to buy a MODE and try that
Hi I know this is a bit late, but did you resolve your issue? Did you try a MODE? I'm curious. I love my DC, a lot of my chinese store bought burned copies have died on me. Tho, I have a Japanese made Dreamcast. I don't have that 1 with a Circle on the sticker. Mine says NTSC J and not U

@@danielzapien7783 you need to setup a partition on the Mac’s Hard Drive to allow it to run Windows. I never did it because I’m not too familiar with how to do it.

This numbered folder structure is a dealbreaker for me. I like to sort games into folders for different genres or series.
