That girl washing cars with the kid on her back is probably Burmese not Thai. Many of these low pay jobs aren’t done by Thais but by Laos, Burmese or Cambodians.
The term shitty job does not reflect well on them, why not use the term menial jobs ?. They work and provide for themselves and/or family. At least they’re working trying to provide . It makes us in other countries realise how lucky we are .
Food delivery drivers are exposed to high danger being in the road and also having to breathe in exhaust all day, and be in the sun. I see someone on a motorbike get rear ended a few days ago. Not at all pleasant.
Horrible statistics on deaths on the road there. My guess is these drivers on scooters are having one of the roughest deals out there. The heat and constant exposure to a chance for an accident for tiny pay is just so bad.
Yes it's fine to come here from the west when you spend time here you see how hard life is for regular people what amazes me is how pleasant most of them are regardless of Thier own plight
@@jacksonj3082 Most people in the west forgot how to smile decades ago and work till they die . In debt up their eyeballs and always at work . Low earning Thais have a far more fun and engaging life than the average Westerner ( Stuck in an office paying for a car and house they are never in as they are always at work ) .. Thats Why people love it here . This guy is viewing Thailand through his western eyes ,comical as fxck . Materialism has shafted the west . I retired at 36 here and view things slightly different .
Don't be feeling guilty about your car being washed for 200thb and wondering how little they get out of it. Quiet simply do what I do and give them a tip, and I don't mean a measly 20 or 50thb. Give them 100thb and u won't feel so guilty as u will have done a good deed for such a small tip out of your pocket but a great deal to them.
Teaching in Thailand is a shitty job in most cases. Not physically but mentally and you are treated like crap and unable to actually teach the way that works.
Really like how you keep it real mate. My Thai ex wife whom is a computer programmer, makes over 100k in the states. Even with almost a decade of working in the states she never wants to go back and work in Thailand in spite of preferring to live in Thailand. Talks about how even with a higher status job she would still be dragged over the coals, and basically be a slave to her employer.
Last February i stayed near KSR Bangkok and there was a group of men cleaning the road drainage pits .It gets all the grease and effluent from the many restaurants .The men were on day release from a prison .Dirty job but i suppose it offered them the opportunity of a few hours out from the Prison cells .
I see many workers on my walks🚶♀️, tree cutters , street cleaners, market traders , they are very hardworking & resilient people for sure .. a lady I speak to in the local market said she wakes at 230am, gets to her fruit stall at 430am here & works until 2pm..
Could you pick a job that gets your hands dirtier but still keeps you legal in Thailand? You know, something where the dirt’s on your hands, not your record.
See the same - construction workers, hard laborers, street sweepers, bus fare collectors, security guards, etc - all not easy jobs but these workers are pleasant to others. Yes might be "bad jobs" (low paying) but they at least have a greater degree of pride and respect compared to their counter-parts in the West. What really angers me are the Western commenters in the media (i.e. BKK Post) who look down on these "stupid low educated" Thais.
What always amazes me about Thailand, is how the extremely rich & very poor co-exist next to each other . Especially very modern commercial buildings neighbouring the very poor, a BMW or Mercedes-Benz dealership in what appears undesirable locations etc...it all seems to be in harmony. Never ever do you see this in the West, infact there a generally clear boundaries between such.
@@keepitreal1547 there are clear boundaries between the rich and poor here in Thailand. You haven’t lived here long enough to discern the differences. 15 years here in the kingdom and I know a persons social class based on how they dress, where they studied, and how they speak with me.
After 7 1/2 years living in Bangkok, it amazes me how great the customer service is under such terrible wages. Almost everywhere I go. I’m greeted with a friendly smile and very cordial attitude. Maybe it comes from the Buddhist teachings.
I disagree, it's not that good - face masks everywhere even though it is nearly 2025. Face masks are depersonalising and incompatible with good customer service. I travel a lot, and only Thailand wears masks this incessantly, even China has moved on. The Land of Smiles tagline is a complete con.
How long have you lived In Thailand? Maybe your experience is completely different than mine. If you stay in Pattaya that’s a whole different story. I personally don’t stay in tourist areas. I’ve had nothing but positive interactions in my time here. Hope things improve for you!
(Almost) Every job in Thailand is shitty. I couldn't imagine busting my ass for 9 hours a day for 300-400 baht. It's still crazy to me after 7 years here. I have a Thai wife and a 3-year-old.
I've lived and worked in Thailand for over 25 years. The first minute of your video was enough for me to know you don't really know what you are talking about.
Every country has people doing jobs they would prefer not to do IMO , sure you would nt see a woman with a baby strapped to her back in the UK , but she will be paying through the nose for child minding costs or getting a favour done by someone to look after the baby if she is a mother . all the small cogs are part of the larger cogs which make for a cohesive society , Somebody has to do them ! For example I done a 4 year apprenticeship as a bricklayer on the North East coast of England , for too long we had to grind through winters which we called an endurance test , not a job , on price work , so you only got paid for how many bricks you layed , no guaranteed income , as the winds whipping in from Scandanavia and the Arctic cutting you in half , you just got on with it and tried to improve your life and do better for yourself , knowing that you will most likely finish up tossed in a corner full of arthritis on a shit pension , its the way of the world , graft , we re not bank robbers or drug dealers , so we have to graft , that s it
Those nana girls have it good. They learn English and speak it better than any Thai with a master degree in English plus they meet faring and travel abroad
Face masks for 7-11 employees have not been mandated for over a year now, these people are just brainwashed. It is dreadful customer service to serve someone in a face mask. And like you said, it's a shitty job and wearing a face mask all day just makes it even more unbearable.
You are absolutely correct, it is utterly depressing and infuriating to see how much of the population still cling onto them like a big kid who cannot let go of their dummy - Land of Smiles is bullshit
do you remember what day it is today ? like Fathers day on Thursday how can you not know given the time you have lived in Thailand hope your memory improves
My philosophy when I go to Thailand is to tip every service worker every time. Even if it's only 20 baht; that's nothing to a foreigner but makes a difference for them. They really appreciate it.
I noticed in Thailand I see lots of signs in front of little shops everywhere saying “ขายยา” meaning “selling medicine”. Again, Thais refuse to use the word “pharmacy”. In Cambodia, they use the word “Pharmacy” or blue cross sign and the stores are bigger and look more like Pharmacy. th-cam.com/video/hqpZsmw9Jm0/w-d-xo.htmlsi=9zaRQxLy6SZyvshs
My father used to say to me growing up every once in a while "You don't know how lucky you are".
My Dad, used to say the same!
Yes and it is true! I think today often the same
Hats off to all hard working honest people
Well said!
Have to respect those that do low paying jobs to better their financial situation rather than mugging or stealing from others.
That girl washing cars with the kid on her back is probably Burmese not Thai. Many of these low pay jobs aren’t done by Thais but by Laos, Burmese or Cambodians.
The Laos, Burmese or Cambodians are also illegal immigrants.
By the way, the children begging are also of that group.
There’s a lot of wealth inequality here same as everywhere I go. The poor are always exploited.
Teaching 45 screaming kids in a class was as bad as it got for me. Thailand great for retiring, painful for working
Their attitude towards work is completely different to the western mindset. Absolutely fantastic people.
Lol. You're funny
I agree.
I don't think you quite get it still ...

I can relate, I barely make enough to eat and every so often people with cameras who don't even speak my language filming me at work weird world
I respect all honest jobs and workers. I only look down on those who intentionally hurt or take advantage of people.

seeing that the minimum wage is 370 baht a day was shocking to me no wonder people don't want to do them jobs.
It's about the average wage. There's a big gap between the rich and the poor in Thailand!

You felt guilty getting your car washed after seeing that woman, but you dont feel guilt going to the parlours?

The same jobs are in every country. It’s the pay that sucks. Their minimum wage is ridiculous
Every body has to work to live,to est & i admire them for it.some of the thai system should be brought into the west
