Hey Dave great to be in one of your races finally, I was the #25 Mustang @42m I did have a hardware issue. PC on my end screen froze on the banking came back live just before I'm at the wall, got all my controls back and tried not to kill anyone else which I thankfully was able to get it stopped before I hit the other side
Yes looked like it. Nothing worse 😳
Love that whistling sound of that AMG ❤
Thanks for the consistent content as always Dave! whenever I see your videos on my feed it's an instant click.
"Wheres my rear grip?!!" I find myself asking this every time i drive the Merc GT3 lol
I agree Dave, you can't change what has happened and just need to get your head down and do the best you can for the rest of the race. 👍
You sure you are not racing the dirt road series? I'm stating to question it after that extended detour you made! Keep up the good stuff man
Nice recovery Dave. Cheers mate.
Great vid, matey! Really enjoyed that one.
We all make mistakes but it is the way you handle them that makes a difference, as you did, just remain calm and drive to fight back. Good race. Nice to see even some of the best make mistakes. The Benz is sometimes on ice skates.
Great work on the Bus-stop🏁👍🏼👍🏼
Dave your videos are really well done I always enjoy checking them out. Thanks for the work. I hope I can be as fast as you when I reach your age!
I'm only 25. Sim racing is stressful 😁
Loved watching this one
Might be a new quest, other than oval? Dave does dirt 😂😂 Well driven back Dave! And thanks for adding the “pitted lap” ❤️❤️
Hello Dave. Thank you very much for this entertaining video. Really like it. About your driving experience: I think that sometimes iRacing does seem to have a bug deep into their physics code where the physics of the car changes violently. I mean pressures seem ok, temp seem ok. Why should you have loss of grip. Maybe iRacing simulates oil loss of other cars maybe? LOL. And my personal oppinion about these slow downs. It´s the worst invention iRacing has ever made to the service. Why not get rid of it and penalize it with -0.0X of SR or so. And if repeated several times, you should get a time penalty or Drive Through depending on severity though. But these slow downs is mostly the thing that turns me down of racing iRacing..... But I still do ;)
That wouldn’t have happened with the triples Dave! 😂 just Poking fun.
This summarizes every single attempt of my career at Daytona road lol
a little emotional driving there after the initial off lol Daytona also has felt very slippery after the update though it must be said (from my 1500 rated ass) but great recovery with the pitstop. shame p1 barely made it by. great race though Dave!
Ich finde deine Videos einfach genial, vielen Dank dafür... 😎👍🏼
Danke 😁
IMSA at Daytona is always a good time, it's a fun track in GT cars. Absolutely murderous for SR though
when Dave decides during the race to do a Mac from the Back... xD
I learned that gt3 tire is kinda broken atm. Like one bigger slide and its done.
Hey Dave, grt content! What dashboards is what u r using? Tnx!
40:49 idk if I agree... yes I know he bumped him, but he hit the brakes mid bus stop
hey dave keep up the good wok what overlays are you wind track temp etc
It's the Racelab overlay. Linked in description 👍
OH you wanted rear grip?? How about NO! Well done collecting yourself and finishing well.
pls fix your car number location on the liverie😉
Good video love your work
But still no shout out to Ms Dave Cam ( Happy wife happy life)
Next video 🤣
Dave, can you explain how you decided how much fuel you put in? I was unable to see, maybe since I’m on mobile, but how did you come up with that amount?
I did a race the other day in the Mustang and put 17ltrs in and was short. I just added a couple of litres. I worked out what my usage was before the race and multiplied that by how many laps I thought it'd go 👍
@@davecamm I'd rather just overfuel by a decent margin and be slower due to extra weight than have the stress of not finishing the race
@@GRamerDim the extra weight is irrelevant. You lose much more time due to the refuelling itself, which is about a second for every 2 litres.
@@davecamm be careful translating the fuel use of one car to another in the same class, all the GT3 / GT4 cars have very different fuel consumption stats. iRacing have normalised the refuelling times so a pitstop is about the same, which I think is pretty bad form but I guess they do it to make BoP simpler to calculate.
MY GRASS 🤬
Oh boy, 23 litres, Jim was way off. Sorry about that, but still better than the iRacing autofuel so I shan't hang my head in shame too badly.
Was this with "experimental fuel" enabled? If so I think the lap discrepancy can be explained by one of two things: a) something happened to the GTP leader and they didn't get an extra lap in or b) you didn't record a pitstop benchmark in your practice so Jim wasn't able to deduct ~40 seconds from your race time. He always adds an extra lap for safety by default which means you ended up with TWO extra laps of fuel because of this.
I have considered automatically teaching Jim the pitstop times based on previous races (and early stoppers), but I intentionality decided NOT to do that because it gives people who take the time to record a pitstop time a competitive advantage and I like playing it safe by default but leaving a bit on the table for people who go to a bit more effort. You'll also be able to ask things like "where will I rejoin if I pit now?" which can help with fuel saving and/or traffic avoidance.
BTW, the setting "Experimental fuel reserve (medium tracks)" (default 1 lap) can be tweaked to match your risk tolerance. I personally use 0.5 laps, but the default is to err on the side of caution.
You can also tell Jim if you've been fuel saving or if you plan to fuel save after the stop, which influences the algorithm... but that's a more advanced topic best saved for another day.
So, how do you benchmark the pitstop exactly? 😁
@@davecamm you should be able to bind a button to "benchmark pitstop" or similar. Press it on your in lap and use roughly the fuel (eg 20 litres) and any tyre changes you expect to do. You can record multiple stops with different levels to cover endurance events and fixed vs open imsa vs gt3 sprint.
I use voice recognition so I just say "record this pitstop". It only works in practice sessions.
Finish your stop and keep driving to at least sector 2. Jim will tell you what he found. Repeat if you change car.
You'll see a json file show up in your crew chief folder that you can keep around when moving computers or share with teammates. You can also edit it manually if you know what you're doing. There has been some talk of garage61 automatically populating that file one day (as well as the fuel usage file in the same folder).
You always say you're bad in a bunch of different types of cars and then end up doing well in them, must be some sort of reverse psychology going on here haha
Fixed setups suck. I race in them only because an open series isn’t available. You guys can usually have a comfortable drive by lowering the ride height and resetting your camber to pass inspection. Of course, real setup wizards can do so much more.
and what are you? a grand wizard?
iRacing is really not good at letting you slide the tires a bit. You slide alittle bit and youre absolutely screwed for the rest of the lap... when in reality it's not like that at all lol
@@DanielOliverRacing I hate iracing Your driving on ice. One slip and you’re gone
Get back in the Ford.
The Mercedes GT3 is the best sounding car in the game. But an absolute pig to drive and ugly as sin.
