Jada Edwards on Building an Authentic Life

  • Are you showing up authentically? My longtime friend Jada Edwards joined me during this year’s Sister Circle Live event to chat about how she embraces her authenticity. She encouraged the ladies (and myself) to get clear about what is true about our design and to walk freely in it.
    Trust me, I know that living authentically is a process. There might be parts of your story that require you to seek outside support for healing. But the work is worth it.
    Learning how to show up authentically in your life looks different for everyone. Spend some time learning what works for you and lean into who you truly are.

      Absolutely, we cannot do the Holy Spirit job. Minister to the person to plant the seed and pray for them.

    The old way of thinking I need to let go of is comparing my spiritual life to another. I am judging myself by a fake stick that God is not a part of. He just wants ME!!! Time with me. Genuine relationship with me. Not the way someone is showing me their relationship with God is. Not downplaying my love and relationship with God because I don't feel like it measures up. He just wants me to just do it!!! Live and love for Him!

    WHEW!!!! This is sooooo GOOD!!!! I've been praying for CONNECTION, but I think the missing link has been AUTHENTICITY... allowing Holy Spirit to be my Discerner to know what to share, when to share, and with whom!!! I have to stop being my own discerner... I have to be authentic, not matter how hard it is!!! Whew!!!

    When Jada talked about consistency, that hit home for me. It's been my challenge in understanding why am I not consistent. Why do I start things, then stop? The light bulb moment was I need to define what consistency means to ME. It may not be getting up at 5am to start my day. It may be starting it at 7am and being ok with that. It may be having my quiet time with the Lord while doing errands some days and other days it may be early morning...be ok with that.

  • @FollowGoddaily
    @FollowGoddaily 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    That consistency part was crucial for me. I could absolutely love an activity or a person but put a time or date on it especially have it be on a routine and sometimes it will feel like I’m entering a slow death. 2 weeks later when the new car smell wears off I won’t want to do it. I have to own that and learn how to adjust to it instead of forcing it.

    Question #1: Yes there are times when I do hold back parts of my story due to shame. Not only this, but also because of fear of being vulnerable. There are times whenever I would just let everything flow like a fountain and pour out too much information to a close friend. But as Jada said, that's whenever you have to learn discernment...let the Lord lead you.
    Spending more time with the Lord has not only allowed me to be more vulnerable, but of discerning when to share and when not to share. You never know who is going through something and what may or may not cause them to stumble or look at you in a way that is not encouraging in the Lord. It may not be the season for them to receive certain parts of your story.

    ☆Start at 34:08-37:38
    "Living a Christian life is just as much about subtraction as it is addition." Sometimes we think we can live our life the way we want AND study scripture looking for our lives to change. Yet, we will never see the fruit of what we're reading in scriptures if we decide we're never going to change our behavior. Letting go of how we've always done things is essential to our growth and development so that we can see the fruit of the Holy Spirit being produced in our life and gain all that God has for us. 🙏🏾
    So good! Thank you for sharing this content!

    For me, a way of thinking that I have needed to let go of is:… I must be perfect to be loved/lovable. This lie has dictated so much in my life and it has hindered my building well and my fruitfulness.

    To the question of, "Are you holding back parts of your story out of shame?" my answer is, "If I am, it's way less than I used to hold back prior to a couple of years ago. It was then that I "bit the Christian bullet" and went to therapy despite my fear of confronting what I went to therapy for and feeling shame for being a believer who needed to go. Since then, I have gotten a bit of education on the psychological part of spiritual warfare and trauma and now have excavated space within to be authentic in my walk with God. This process has been eventful, emotional, exciting, and God-kissed. Grateful.

    Good morning Chrystal! So much good information. It helped me to know how prayer changes things. I start on things and keep praying through it and before I know it it's done! God is great and greatly to be praised. I'm in the process of getting my home organized and career going. That's good to say now because last year I was saying Im in the process of renovating my house and just beginning my business. So God is working in my life! The biggest thing I learned through getting things going for myself is to not compare myself to to others that are where I want to be, but to pray for them and learn from them so I can get there also! I BELIEVE that I. can do all things by the strength of Jesus Christ. I enjoyed the speaker, Jada's message, she showed how "real" things are and the truth about the process and i was so glad to hear that Im not alone😊. Thank you for your ministry it's so comforting and motivating! God bless you all and your families.
