Very interesting to see the build progress, thanks for sharing the level of detail that you do in the updates! I am swapping a 6cyl Jeep motor into my J10 and constantly struggle deciding whether to retain the fuel injection or not. I too love the simplicity of carburetors but on this build I’m not planning to modify the engine, so it’s really tempting to swap the modern dash air con etc from the donor XJ.
Be careful with the heat don’t forget electrolytes and other nutrients beside water!

Yeh nice. I definitely love my carbys. Yeh I'd consider a carby as the XJ ECU and wiring left a lot to be desired.
Definitely keeping up on the fluids etc 👍👍

As I advised the other week, I am pleased to advise that the experiment has been a total success with better than expected results. Going from 4 to 8 has really delivered results on the 85" frame. Looks great with your new motor - high end quality to be seen to be believed. I am going to check it out now on the hill climb stuff with Stretch and his gang. I recommend this upgrade to everyone for superior one-on-one interaction. And going from 4 to 8 is not just a doubling up of quality - it quadruples quality output. You should give it a go. Cheers Brian.

Buying online offers a lot of convenience but there is a cost, like errors and subsequent returns and reshipping.

Love your motor now. It looks really good. Very impressive. Sorry to hear about the toilet problems. It would have been a sh!t of a job having to re-fabricate the exterior cassette door. I am curious about the fuel management system that you have. I would like something similar. Can you recommend some reading for me so that I can understand it better? No Dad jokes today. I am too impressed with what Ray has done with the vehicle. Cheers Brian. I wish Bertha looked as good as your engine.......!!

@@jeepinoz Hi Ray, And thanks. I am going to watch your video again and try and take in more about what you did with your fuel system (and what the console on the glove compartment does exactly to allow as I understand, to tune your engine for best efficiency as you go along). I went to Mackay today for MRI Scans at the Mater Hospital from Airlie Beach. Around town I am chewing about 15 litres per 100 km. On the highway, I am chewing about 10 litres per 100 km. Towing my boat I am chewing 20 litres per 100 km. It is difficult to put it into words but on the highway I am in 6th gear, 2,500 rpm but it is still a bit thirsty (in my mind). Especially when going up a hill and the cruise control struggles to hold 6th gear. I would just like to read about your fuel management and see if it could help me improve my fuel economy. I only use Shell VPower Octane 98 which I "know" is good quality fuel. But I pay a pretty big premium for this fuel. That extra cost (20 odd cents per litre) means I am not really getting best mileage for fuel usuage. I will carefully study the video again. I understand the cooling side of your motor. I don't understand timing advances, leaning out the fuel etc. But it looks to be a brilliant iniative what you have done. And your engine seems to be very well designed and put together with gizmo's that give you real positive results. As Emma said, the motor kicks over easily. As you said, the motor is turning the crank easily. Cheers Brian.

@@cyrenacyrena3041 so our new system is now a carburettor which has technically gone backwards. Yours would be running injection. So this application doesn't always work in every circumstance

@@jeepinoz Hi Ray, that makes sense to me now. I hate all these new-fangled car computer systems that cost a fortune for the auto technician to even just look at. I remember in 2007, I bought the last of Harley Davidson's naturally aspirated carburettor systems (a Softail Custom FXSTC). Beautiful bike. Big raked forks, forward controls, ape-hangers - a proper American classic motor cycle - Indians are also beautiful but expensive. And now, I can't even buy 2-stroke outboard motors - I have to buy a GAY 4-stroke that doesn't use as much fuel. Anyway, don't get me started, I am from the old school when cars were cars and boats pumped out heaps of exhaust fumes. With my big boats, I would always say "I love the smell of diesel fumes first thing in the morning". The fish then would know that I am coming after them with the turbos sucking in heaps of air. Give me a pair of 1,800 hp Detroit Diesels any day of the week and I could go anywhere. Back to topic. You are going the right way with your Jeep motor - and it looks good. Will catch ya. Cheers Brian. Quick story - a had a 20 litre Jerry of 98 fuel in the back of my 4WD. Stinking hot up here. The fuel overheated and expanded. It spewed out 10 litres through the back of the wagon. It took me days pulling everything out, carpets, drawers, tools etc to clean it all out. And now the car smells like a paint factory. My mate said "good luck" getting the smell out. Any clues you might know on getting rid of the smell? I have been leaving all the doors, windows, tail gate open, spraying Joop Jump cologne by the bottle through the vehicle. Joop helps a bit. Cheers B.

@@jeepinoz Happy Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving in Australia is a special day of the year that we all need to celebrate. People forget that when Captain Cook first discovered Australia in 1770 he landed at Botany Bay. When the Endeavour crew first came ashore at Port Botany after many long days at sea and without access to fresh meat, it was the Australian Aborigines who rescued Captain Cook. The Aborigines bought a dead kangaroo down to the Endeavour crew so that they would have fresh meat. We need to thank Australian Aborigines for this kind gesture of support and caring. Happy Australian Thanksgiving everybody. The Aborigines found the kangaroo dead on The Kingsway road down to Cronulla through Sutherland Shire. And that is why the Aborigines named the main street in Caringbah down along the Bay to Cronulla "Captain Cook Drive". So much history in this country and not many people know the "true" back story like I do. I discovered this fact while reading one of Captain Cook's voyage journals. Cheers B. And if the women don't find Australian men handsome, they should at least find them as thick as a marble tile.

Without knowing the details of your V8, you mentioned a Performer RPM Air Gap intake. Is your engine a 6500 rpm Performer "RPM" Air Gap engine(or in the future) or a 5500 rpm Performer Air Gap engine ?
