The episode had a short bit in the water tunnel that is a line from Star Wars said by Luke Skywalker. One episode tied in Burt Reynolds and Jon Voight for Midnight Cowboy and Deliverance . If you know enough Movies you can spot LInes for the actors ot items in the backdrop. The homage to the Coo Coo Nest was in 2 episodes an was for Nurse ratchet and when Jack Nicholson was playing basket ball.

It's moments like this that really show what this show is all about... Not the swearing- Dope -liquor fuelled mayhem... Those are just the things that tie down the show to reality... What the show is really about is their sense of community and "how far their willing to go to make each other happy for that brief moment"

I weirdly get teary eyed sometimes in this episode when Alex is talking about how the Boys went through all that trouble just to make Bubbs happy for that little second......True friends hard to find.
The first 3 seasons had quite a few scenes that pulled at the heart strings. It was the genius of Mike Clattenburg. It's a shame what the show has become but I guess the boys gotta eat.
This is what the show HAD, that it now LACKS in every regard. The entire show is nothing but swearing, arguing and other shades of bullshit.

The acoustic riff to Closer To the Heart is usually played on a 12 string guitar. In this scene Alex and Mike are both playing six string guitars, harmonizing together to create the same effect. Must have been a pretty amazing experience when they shot this.
@@silversnail1413 The guitars you're hearing aren't live. It's an overlay. You can hear strokes and picks that don't correspond to anything Mike or Alex are playing. I would have thought this would have been obvious considering the guitars aren't mic'd, and would not sound anywhere near that crisp from just being picked up on a boom mic.
the cast all wear lapel mics. i wouldn't be surprised if they mic'd the guitars for this. it's not a low-budget show, they don't record the whole thing on one boom.
This is the best moment in the entire show, and here’s why:
It caps off what I refer to as the holy trinity of trailer park boys episodes, s3e3-5 (if I can’t smoke and I can’t swear I’m fucked!, microphone assassin, and of course closer to the heart) this trilogy completely embodies why this show works. Unique high jinx and brilliant characterization. Also the part where they get kicked out of the arena, get a cab back to the park and literally step out of the cab back into the sewer is the single funniest shot ever in tv

Best episode of trailer park boys ever. The right amount of crazy schemes, asshole jim & randy schenanigans, corey & trevor screew ups, ricky bone head moment, celeb cameo done right! It just all comes together neatly in what the shows strengths can be.
I always think about when they start throwing trash back at Lahey and Randy and also squirt mustard at Randy earlier in the episode. The episode is perfect lol

Rush is my favorite band, and seeing bubbles and Alex lifeson play closer to the heart actually made me a little teary eyed.

Okay...I think I've finally figured this out. I've been obsessed with this since the first time I saw/heard it, and I know I'm not the only one. I also know I'm not the only one who felt goosebumps or chills. Bubbs represents all of us. All the nerdy wannabes...All the Everyman...Here, he succeeds, and it's really beautiful and touching. Thank you Bubbs for giving us all hope...and proper chills...

It wasnt until season 4 and stupid ass conky came around that bubbles went full retard. Mike Smith is an asshole that even though he created the character didn't understand it and once Mike Clattenburg stopped writing for the show bubbles turned into a joke. Michael Jackson the actor that played Trevor saw the show becoming a bastardized version of it's former self and left never to return..
Getting guitar lessons from Alex Lifeson almost makes up for living in a tool shed in the middle of a trailer park.
This and "It could happen to you cuz it happened to me (AND T)" are my favorite outros from this show.

BlackDogsMatter I attended a show of theirs a couple years ago, and was talking with one of their roadies before the show, and he said that Smith can be a dick quite often, but is still forgiving.

The first few seasons of the TPB’s are the best in my opinion. all the other ones don’t give the sense of “Trailer Park Community”, the first few seasons and the bad equipment used to film it gave it a really good vibe. All of them were good though and I don’t think anyone knows how much I’d give to be able to watch this daily.
This clip was what got me into RUSH and what a ride it has been.
This scene was always EPIC! The boys were clearly blown the hell away to have Alex on and Mike (Bubbles) getting to play together was mind blowing? Wow! Mike is a guitar player but the way he looks left to right like a novice would "whats goon with the left hand, the right hand". lol He acted it so perfectly! lol

Thanks for posting this. Just watched this episode. Amazing. Seen Rush a few times in my younger days, just now getting around to watching TPB's. .... from the beginning each show seemed to have a moment that was actually very sentimental. This is beyond anything I had ever expected.

I saw this episode so many years ago and I knew I had to learn Closer To The Heart on 6 string, completely got me into Rush and love thier stuff now! Picked up my guitar to play this iconic riff with Alex and Bubs, TPB is elite.
