    How cute is this?!? So versatile. I love Itch to Stitch patterns. They’re incredibly well-drafted, and I save so much time not having to do full bust adjustments.

    I am so glad to see you make this cute jacket out of your quilt. My mind immediately went to a pair of curtains I bought at a thrift store. Yippee!

    Love a little cream colored jacket. So clever for you to use that worn out quilt!! Had a thought about sleeve length. Could you just wack off cuffs and make new ones to make sleeve length shorter? If worth the trouble, that is.

    • @TomKatStitchery
      @TomKatStitchery  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I bet that's what the jacket is named for! Kennis names all her patterns after places and she lives in Costa Rica so I bet that's the namesake!

    Cute, cute, and smart, too. Whitney, repurposing your blanket is awesome. I trust you saved the scraps because quilted yokes and cuffs are mixed with all kinds for color blocking. That compound fabric can be dyed so easily for a different appearance. I like this jacket pattern especially the change in the neck area--really cute change. ~ L

    • @TomKatStitchery
      @TomKatStitchery  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! I did save the rest of the quilt. I was thinking it could be a fun candidate for dye as well!

    Love it. I have been trying to figure out what you had hanging on your rack done up in white. Very nice. As soon as you said it was your old quilt, as a quilter, I was thinking about all the quilts I have made and which ones would make a nice coat or jacket. Not that I will cut up one of my quilts and then I chuckled because I doubt anyone who has received one of my quilts would cut it and sew it. Although I do have an old quilted silk bed cover that would make a beautiful jacket. Another project recorded in my book of dreams.👍

      I am a quilter too. Making a quilted jacket last year is what got me into garment making. Estate sales are a great place to find old quilts. I used a hand pieced hexie quilt top from an estate sale as my lining in my quilted jacket last year. I love it! Planning on making another one this year.

    Love this jacket pattern and your white one! I bought it this morning and printed it off, hope to start mine soon in a khaki colored corduroy.
    So smart to use your old bedspread.
    I really like the neckline on this pattern. Itch to Stitch patterns it me well, I’m 5’11” so I pick the tall file but I still will need to add length to waist and sleeves. Itch to Stitch instructions are very clear and helpful.

    Oh boy. I have managed to resist buying any fabric or patterns in the black friday sales. Have so many patterns already queuing up to be made. Thought I could keep the no-buy up when I saw this new one pop up in my email. But now seeing it made up by you … and still have Karina’s version to watch … oh oh 😉💕

      @@TomKatStitchery It is a beautiful one indeed. I did resist. I can always buy it at full price once I am ready for it. It’s not gone. And for now it’s no added pressure on my back. That’s worth the extra cost.

    LOL..I have a matelasse coverlet in my linen closet dying to be this jacket! I noted the white quilt garment on your rack in yesterday's video and wondered what that might be..now it will be a great layering piece that I'll use in my spring capsule! It will take me that long to get through my current queue, winter is spoken for with so many of your great ideas (-;=

    Whitney, so clever to repurpose you quilt & in your color range. Double win! Looks great on you! I am a novice sewer. I also loved your fabric choice or the vougue 1643 sew along (Lady MacElroy Olive Tweed w/petersham ribbon.... Do you think the tweed fabric would work for the Itch to Stitch Poas jacket? Or is that olive tweed too heavy for this Poas jacket pattern?

    Hi Whitney, I love your jacket and I am prepping one in pink jacquard for the spring here in south France. I am 5'2" too and I was wondering if I should make a height adjustment above the bust, I usually do a 1/4"one when patterns are drafted for 5'6" . Do you think I should bother ?
