Just brought mine today. It's brilliant. Will definitely be my everyday tool along with 5 other Mesa products, and yes, I am biased. To those who think you can just use a mixer channel, you guys need to hear it first, it's like a very expensive console channel and it's nothing short of amazing.
I'm a Boogie fan and I'm getting one . I've had my mk iv since the 80s with absolutely no issues. I trust these guys 100% and I know I'm getting a good quality amp.
Short of just going out and getting an acoustic amp or PA system. I've found that my sun $ 100 Pyle PVAMP60 1x8 open back combo on the clean channel with a reverb is as close as an electric acoustic will sound to it's natural unplugged self. Pyle calls their PVAMP series an electric guitar amp because it has the OD & reverb integrated. The issue still with acoustic electric is that feedback at volume is the chronic issue. The Pyle solid state PVAMP series is really a starter pack level electric guitar amp. The clean channel is it's greatest feature. It's almost a toneless sound even with a 3 EQ tone stack. It's not the speaker because I was able to mod the Pyle combo to be a passive cabinet with a VHT 6W pedal amp & their Redline V-Four tone stack preamp and really get amazing sound from the open back cabinet. I see too many acoustic combo amps even as closed back speaker cabinets. To me, the acoustic unplugged is it's bowl projecting & filling the room ambiently from the sound hole. By using the open back which has a looser bass that escapes thru the back of the cabinet. Open back cabs are that way and fill a room with sound that it more ambient & natural, which is what an acoustic is really about. The mids & highs are present from the front of the speaker. But that little 1x8 fills the room quite nicely with 60W of solid state power. I don't need to turn the volume of the Ovation's preamp up to anything more than 1/2 way, the amp's volume knob can go to 2/3-3/4 volume for a sweet spot that is less likely to get into feedback problems. It's on the cusp of starting to find that feedback oscillation from the soundhole even sitting right in front of the amp. I use a wireless guitar system to retain the freedom and advantage of an acoustic guitars "unplugged" state. I can play higher gain crunchy style music and get more of an electric guitars style from it, but the feedback can come out of nowhere, so high gain rock is worthless to even attempt with the gear I'm using. At it's best though and no feedback issues, the Ovation blows away it's hollow body electric guitar equivalents (your 335 style electrics with F-holes). The Ovation I'm using has the traditional middle of the top round soundhole and not the Oak Leaf cluster of sound holes that add up to a single round soundhole. It's an Applause super shallow bowl AE-128. Comparatively that super shallow bowl sacrifices depth & projection. The upside to the SS bowl though is it has a little higher overhead before that nagging acoustic feedback appears. Many acoustic amps are more like stereo amplifiers, they will have a woofer 6-8 inch with a tweeter separately. The Pyle for me was an accidental acoustic amp that I originally bought for a Epiphone LP with P90's. As the Pyle failed to satisfy for the electric guitars I have, the LP & Squier Strats, it has proven to be the exclusive go to amp for the Ovation Applause AE. I could play the Ovation on the tube amp or even the solid state combos with amp models & effects, but the Ovation would lose it's natural sound and voice. The Pyle seems to let the Ovation shine in that regard. It's amazing, I can strum the Ovation with the preamp effectively turned off to hear it as it would be unplugged, even though it's plugged into the Pyle. A slight turn of the Applause's preamp volume and I'm getting that same unplugged Ovation voice & tone with the Pyle's reverb effect. I don't know if I'd be happier with an acoustic amp or the Pyle with an acoustic electric, but the Pyle does the acoustic plugged in so well, I don't see any need to buy an expensive acoustic electric solid state amp. I can amost run the Ovation into the Cambridge Soundworks Model 88 as a clock radio amp as well and get the Applause's natural & ambient voice & tone. Although the clock radio amp isn't quite nearly as loud as the Pyle.
I should not be watching gear vids! So broke, yet love to struggle and to play through what I do still have. A friend had a Mesa Boogie MK 1 combo. I fell in love with the tone that would could pouring out of that.
I really like this amp. This one is a little different and it seems as if A tone button has been turned way down low and you cannot turn it back up No matter what you do thereby giving the effect of a large blanket has been placed over the amplifier giving it a sort of a muted jazz tone. If this what you’re looking for you have found the goal at the end of the rainbow. Other people may not want quite that muted muffled jazzy sound but I really like it. Of course I really like jazz a lot. Aside from that. I took my D 42 Martin and was about to pull my hair out until I finally found the magic gold tone that I really liked. You are really gonna have to work to find the sound that you like with this amp but if you spend the time you can really find some gold here. Same thing with my nylon string acoustic Taylor. I spent the time but I have taken photographs of my settings of I find what I like for each guitar so I can get back to it easily rather than suffer through the long turning of knobs until I find that gold spot. It has a different sound it’s not like others. However if you want a clear True sound from your guitar right away you cannot go wrong with the Fishman Loudbox performer. I have both. But I just got to tell you I mean really if you spend the time with this Mesa Rosett amplifier you are going to find some gold there but you got a hunt for it. And you will find some gold that you will not find in the Loudbox performer even though the lockbox box performer is an outstanding first class a number one amplifier. It’s just that the Mesa has a different sound that you really have to dig for it but once you find it you’re gonna like it.

Absolutely! Direct to the PA, or a powered monitor, or a power amp input, or a regular amp input or FX Return jack. The back panel Outputs cover any base needed whatever the power / speaker source is.
